As was previously reported, DevilDriver has begun writing new material for an upcoming album. DevilDriver drummer John Boecklin issued the following statement about the new songs:
"Just to clarify a few things on the subject of us writing new material!! Not one note of these songs are left over shit songs we could not pull together for our last record. I personally started writing for this album a week after recording 'Pray' and we have always done this. Writing for us is the fun part of all the stupid crap that goes on in this business. This is also not a quick attempt to get out of our record contract, even if we were trying to do so, none of us could release material we all felt was blatantly sub-par while giving each other high fives cause we got out of a contract.
"On our last record, I would say we stretched as far as we could outside of what we had done in the past, trying new and slower songs with vocal melody like 'its in the cards' or the rock like feel of songs like 'Back with a Vengeance' and 'teach me to whisper.' For our latest effort, we feel like musically going for the throat so to speak. Are we gonna make a death metal album? no! We always have a heavy emphasis on groove and hook. That will not change. We just feel we have a certain anger edge about us and the songs we are writing compared to our last one. It will not be rushed and if you are a fan, you will not be let down!!"

We, The Undersigned have issued the following road report from their Canadian tour dates:
"November 5th - Mikado’s - St. Catherines, ON. On our way to a Thursday night shindig in St. Catherines we skipped down to one of Canada’s greatest wonders, Niagara Falls. For most of us this was the first time and I must say, it’s pretty badass! Go Canada!
"This particular bar is equipped with a projector and so along with cold beer and live music, the patrons are also subject to whatever sort of visual stimulation the DJ deems appropriate. I looked up at one point and saw teletubbies... during our set. Imagining our tunes with a backdrop of those little creatures is pretty comical.
"We rocked Mikado’s with 2 local bands, The Overfiend and The Flame of Iris, and had a great time doing it! Ninjaspy administered some serious pwn, as per the usual. It’s great to see brothers making music together, and doing it so well. This was the 1st show/bar that gave us a beer tab so that was kinda nice. We demolished it in a timely manner. Hopefully we caught a few eyes and ears in the St. Kitts because we’ll likely be back in the future since this show went so well. Mainly though we just want to see the Falls again! Tomorrow we backtrack to Montreal, the metal capital of Canada! More...
Pennsylvania metal band Ethereal Collapse has issued the following update regarding the departure of guitarist Dave Kline
"It is with a very heavy heart that I announce Dave Kline's departure from Ethereal Collapse. Dave has been with the band since the very beginning, and it goes without saying that we are deeply saddened by his departure. Simply put, things won't be the same without him, and it will be quite an adjustment for all of us."
"This means that for the first time since the band's inception, Ethereal Collapse is in need of a guitarist. Interested parties should contact us on Myspace or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The ideal candidate will live in driving distance of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and be equally proficient in rhythm and lead playing. The ability to write good melodic metal is a plus, and he or she should be able to practice at least twice a week."
"If interested, please contact the band immediately. Thank you."

"From the very beginning we had a very good feeling about MAP. The way they acted and their attitude towards us was more than we expected. They were simply the underground label we were looking for. A label with great ambitions and down to earth attitude. They were serious and ready to tell us about their visions whenever we wanted to. We have had this record deal in the works for quite long and we are both relieved to have this contract sealed as much as eager to begin the journey towards higher levels."

Father Befouled, whose drummer Anticrhistus recently took his own life, have issued the following update about recruiting a new drummer:
"In the wake of the tragedies of last week, we have added Chad Davis from Hour of 13 and SET (Former Demoncy, Profane Grace) to our ranks as our new drummer. Chad stepped up the plate and has already learned and recorded one of the new tracks for the NWN 7" to be released soon. We could not be happier with his inclusion in the band, and look to move forward, however never forgetting the importance of our former member.
"Yes, Decrepitaph's Elektrokutioner was originally lined up for the position, but dynamically Chad's style better fits our sound, and logistically it is an easier move, with us being in Georgia and CD in North Carolina. Elektrokutioner remains one of my personal best friends, so there is no love lost there. (Speaking of, our other band, Festered, has our new album out on Razorback Records TODAY, go buy that shizz).
"No shows lined up for now, but all in due time."

British thrash metal legends Onslaught has checked in from their first headlining tour of South America after finishing their shows in Brazil. The message reads as follows:
"Well here we are for our first time in Brazil, I've been looking forward to this for many years and what an eventful start we got off to...
"First show was in Manaus, a city in the middle of the Amazon jungle with no roads in or out, truly amazing. We arrive at the venue to be greeted by hordes of thrash metal maniacs hanging out around this, I must say gargantuan venue, its a really cool scene... I think within an hour we managed to get our photo taken with everyone there... ha ha ha ha.
"The equipment is not the best and it takes some huge compromises to get things together but with the help of William our sound tech, everything works and he gets a crushing front of house sound. The Force album seems to be order of the day, so we try to play it in its entirity, unfortunately our show is brought to a very abrupt end by the local Police (this is a big problem over here) and we are several songs short which was a huge disappointment at our first appearance here.
