After being cleared of blasphemy charges in Poland last year stemming from an on-stage Bible ripping incident, apparently Behemoth front man Nergal is now facing legal issues again due to a recent decision by the Polish supreme court.
The Guardian is reporting the supreme court has now ruled against Nergal, who may potentially spend up to two years in jail for tearing up a Bible. Excerpts from the report follow:
Poland's supreme court has issued a landmark judgment against a heavy metal musician who tore up a Bible at a gig in 2007. Although the judges conceded that Adam Darski, AKA Nergal, did not intend to offend his audience, they ruled that he could still have "offended religious feelings," violating Polish law. If found guilty, the singer could face up to two years in prison.
After being cleared by judges in 2010 and 2011, the singer/guitarist is again on trial. Officials in Gdansk asked the supreme court how Darski could be "offending religious feelings" if most of Behemoth's fans expected theatrical sacrilege?
"One should respect the court's verdict," Darski told journalists. But the Catholic church is also "immature," he said, "trying to gag people … [and] freedom of speech." Speaking to Reuters, Darski's lawyer said they would continue to oppose the charges: "We are still arguing that we were dealing with art, which allows more critical and radical statements," Jacek Potulski explained.
Nergal has now released a new autobiography titled "Sacrum Profanum," which details his battle with leukemia. The latest trailer for the release is available right here.

New Zealand based metal group Sonic Altar is currently mixing the band's second album with Finnish producer/engineer Mikko Karmila (Children of Bodom, Nightwish) at Finnvox Studios.
“The first time around, we worked with a fantastic producer called Mike Exeter just after he had finished Heaven and Hell's The Devil You Know,” comments vocalist Kane Bennett. “We flew him out to New Zealand and worked with him in our own studio over a period of 6 weeks. I learned so much working closely with him during that time. When it came to producing and recording the new album, I felt I had enough experience to handle it myself, but we wanted to get someone with an impressive catalogue of previous work to mix it. One of the first people we thought of was Mikko Karmila, as we are all massive fans of what he has been involved with.”
Bennett will be travelling to Finland to work on the mix alongside Mikko. Regarding the album, Bennett says, “We have put a huge amount of work into this album! For instance we have probably recorded two or three different versions of it, reworking things each time, but now we finally feel like we have got it right. There are 12 songs on the album, just like ‘NO SACRIFICE’. The band’s sound and direction has evolved and so has the songwriting. It’s more modern and definitely heavier. This has had a lot to do with ‘fresh blood’ coming into the band in the form of guitarist Dave Hudson. He brought a lot of killer ideas in. Dave and I wrote about half the album together. It’s a very exciting time for us, all we need now is a title for it!”
The album is currently expected for release in early 2013.

Therion is currently in the midst of the 25th Anniversary tour and will be releasing the new album "Les Fleurs du Mal" on November 27th in North America through End of the Light Records. The band debuted the new track "Polichinelle" exclusively on Noisecreep today at this location.
The album "Les Fleurs du Mal" is a part of an art project that Christofer Johnsson has been thinking about for some time:
"The time was never right for it, but in celebration of the band's 25th anniversary, I thought now will finally be the right time for it," Christofer Johnsson explains.
The album title refers to Charles Baudelaire's (French author and poet 1821-1867) famous poem collection "Flowers of Evil" ("Les Fleurs du Mal" in French) that caused such an upset of emotions in France that the author was brought to court and got fined for "insulting the public" with six of the poems, that remained forbidden in France until 1949 when the ban was finally lifted. The spirit of the project is a tribute to Baudelaire, and is imbued into both music and artwork. The album was recorded at Adulruna studio, located in a separate building next to Johnsson's decadent "Villa Adulruna" where the band lived together while recording.
"Les Fleurs du Mal" is available for pre-order on Amazon.
