After releasing “Ki” in May 2009, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT is preparing the second installment of the series of four albums. Entitled “Addicted,” the album is set for European release on the following dates:
GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, ITALY: Friday, November 13, 2009.
UK, BENELUX, FRANCE, GREECE, DENMARK, NORWAY, PORTUGAL, REST OF EUROPE: Monday, November 16, 2009.
SPAIN: Tuesday, November 17, 2009.
FINLAND, SWEDEN, HUNGARY: Wednesday, November 18, 2009
The album’s title track can be heard now on Noisecreep along with the first U.S. interview with Townsend concerning this release.
Townsend states: “Musically, ‘Addicted’ is along the lines of the big, wall of sound hard rock/heavy metal of Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution (even Physicist at points). It is a very direct and 'to the point' album with an emphasis on groove and the chorus. In the past, lots of my records end up taking a kind of Pink Floyd-ish route (between song meandering, etc.) ‘Addicted’ is really simple: 10 rocking songs with no bullshit.
“The vocal duties on this record are handled by myself and Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering). I wanted to have male and female vocals kind of 'tell the story' so to speak. It's an honor to work with her and she has a lovely, lovely energy. I absolutely love this record and it affects me in a way that I wasn't prepared for. It's a fully rocking album of optimism.”
As previously reported, the multi-instrumentalist has just been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010 as a very special guest appearance. This will be his only UK show in 2010.

Amon Amarth has issued the following statement about a special guest appearance on their November 1st tour date:
"We are excited to announce that Perttu Kivilaakso from Apocalyptica will be making a special appearance during our show in London on November 1. The idea came up when Perttu made an appearance with us during three shows in Finland, where he performed two songs with us. We thought it was such a blast having him along that we decided to extend this performance with three more songs in London. We're really looking forward to playing with Perttu again, and to treating our London audience to a special experience."

Astral Doors is currently set to release their new album "Requiem of Time" in Europe on January 15th and in North America on February 16th. The band has issued the following update about the album:
"All the previous releases from Astral Doors have been mixed by the master Peter Tägtgren. He has done a great job for us and we love and respect him very much. This time around however, we decided to give our very own guitar player, Martin Haglund, the chance to be in control of the mixing process. Martin has really improved as a sound engineer and technician the last couple of years, and we felt that he could do as great job as his best friend Tägtgren.
"The release is set to January, but we hope that we can give you a sample from the upcoming release within a month or so. Martins mix is just incredible and we can't wait to share it with the entire world. 'Requiem of Time,' our 5th album is nothing but a killer. Songs like 'Testament of Rock,' 'Power and the Glory,' 'When Darkness Comes,' and 'St. Peters Cross' will be classics for any Astral fan, that's for sure!"
Pennsylvania metallers Ethereal Collapse have issued the following announcement about seeking a new drummer:
"Ethereal Collapse is once again seeking a drummer. The requirements are simple: you must be reliable, live in driving distance of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (or be willing to relocate), have the ability to play fast thrash beats and double bass (listen to the song 'Slave to the Empirical' on our MySpace for instances of both), and have decent equipment.
"Though our old drummer, Matt Rodriguez, is leaving, he’ll be filling in as often as he can until we find someone new. However, until that happens, activities will be quite limited, so please help us out. If you ARE someone or you KNOW someone, please help us out. You can get in touch with us on Myspace or through the means provided below. Thanks everyone."

"Just checking in to let all our friends and fans know what's happening with the band and the new CD. Well its official, all the drums and rhythm guitars are all done. YEAH!!!!! (finally). The process has taken a bit longer than we had hoped but we are now in the final stages. We've enjoyed making and recording this new music... but to tell you the truth we cant wait to have it all done as its getting a little grueling now. However all we have to do now is 3 songs of Bass, 2 of guitar solos, and 5 songs of vocals and then mix it. The artwork too is close to completion, being drawn and designed by bassist Bruce.
"CD is shaping up to look like:
Dedication To Black
Fight In The Shade
Pedal To The Metal

"Then there's the extra cover we've done of War Ensemble just for our youtube and myspace pages. More...

Reverend Kill has issued the following update about re-recording their first album:
"Reverend Kill has decided to re-record the first disc RK1 this winter, we are changing the title to Feces of the Damned. The booklet design is once again by Sylvain Bourdais and Joe Sikorski will once again be our recording engineer. We are doing this because we still play these tunes live and after the changes we made they are a little different and we wanna hear it on a disc, also it will be funny hearing Graham sing So Long Sister. I know I will be crying. I (don) wrote most of the lyrics on this disc so it will be cool to see if people dig my style of silly lyrics. Also we will likely release it as a 2 disc set with the original and the updated disc, plus some extra goodies as well. Also Stay Tuned we still have one more thing to do this winter as well."
Karma To Burn has posted a video online for the song "20," which can be viewed below. The band also issued the following statement about the video:
"Naturally, when we first sat down to concoct a video for 20 we thought to hire some genius who would yet again juxtapose religious iconography and bodily waste. However, we found no such horrifying, blasphemous excuses for video directors in Hollywood. We were told in fact time and again 'American people will no longer stand for vulgar, nonsensical displays that masquerade as art.' Undaunted we used our entire video budget to hop a jet to the most depraved city on the planet, Berlin.
"There we met Nat Fowler, a man who once lived in Baltimore for 27 years straight. He demanded we allow him to create a dream video directed from an idea that came to him in a dream. We agreed as he also agreed to let us pay him in dream dollars and primitivist painted paper masks. We mutually bellowed inanities and fired pistols into random crowds to conceptually evoke the hideous irrationality of the collective unconscious.
"Using a few simple and surreal ingredients this may or may not be that video." More...

Swedish doom metallers Skeletal Spectre have issued the following update about releasing a new album through Razorback Recordings:
"The American artist, Adam Geyer, has completed the cover painting for our debut CD on Razorback Recordings. It is a dark piece of work that we are very thrilled with. We will be posting it soon once the album gets closer for pressing. You can see Adam's killer art at his official web site! Total support to Adam and his excellent haunted paintings of horror... In other news, the great Putrid is working on our new band logo which will be finished very soon."
The track "Amulet of Impurity" off the new album can also be heard on the band's official MySpace page.
God Dethroned has posted a series of photos from their American tour dates online, which can be found here. The band also issued the following road report:
"We are into the first week of our American tour and things have been going pretty smoothly so far. After having relaxed for 6 days at a hotel in Tucson we were all energized and ready to start this tour. We played our first show at the Rock in Tucson and met our tour manager Erin Lynch, aka The Queen of Booze, the guys and girl of Abigail Williams, who we are sharing our tour bus with, and the guys of Woe of Tyrants.
"The second day we played in Mesa and the third day in Vegas we went to the Strip, saw lots of casinos and the watershow at the Ballagio hotel. We played our show at the Cheyenne Saloon and met up with the guys of Augury. The show at the Galaxy Theatre went really well for us and the audience was great!
"After a cool show at the Key Club the day after we went for a drink at the legendary Rainbow and since we were in Hollywood we weren't surprised to see any celebrities, but we didn't expect to see this guy ;-) (together with Ron Jeremy at the Rainbow, LA)
"The atmosphere at Thee Parkside in San Francisco was very rock 'n' roll and we played a very good show. We found out afterwards that we had played in front of people from Origin, Stratovarius, who were celebrating a day off, and there was also a member of Whitesnake and Death Angel. I would love to have seen the Golden Gate bridge but sadly we went another way out of the city, so maybe next time. More...
Danish modern metallers Mnemic have issued the following recording update:
"So happy we are all done with guitars for 15 songs, its been really heavy, heavy as in sitting hours and hours recording to perfection, listening and being focused. I totally forgot how much work there is when layering track after track, bouncing and listening. 2 years ago we actually got really tired of spending hours and hours in the rehearsal and made the smart move of investing in studio equipment for everyone in the band, and voila, everyone in the band works with ProTools. We are probably the last band on earth to have done this, but in the end, and as you probably know, it makes the whole process easier, as we can work whenever and wherever we want.
"Well, moving on to the bass parts, today we setup some of the new gear we got in from our friends at T.C. Electronic. Again we are trying to go different ways, as we always recorded with Ampeg but now its time to try something else. We setup both the Ampeg stack along side T.C.’s RebelHead 450 bass amp for comparison, and came quickly to the conclusion that the RH450 had a much more raw but clear sound than the Ampeg. As all digital processor units are trying to emulate tube based amps and analog units in general, we must say the DSP took us by surprise in the RH450. By comparing the two we quickly decided to try out the RH450, and it did give us a more clear sound but a very thick sound, which was satisfactory to record. So we trashed the Ampeg, and we’ll go digital all the way, as for the bass lines. More...
Norwegian doom metallers Syrach have issued the following road report:
"We are now in the chech Republik, and will be playing at the masters of rock cafe in zlin. Getting here was a small adventure in it self. It all started when we got up the 'morning' after the show in switzerland, and started driving for budapest. Some kms outside vienna, one of our tires started leaking air. It would prove to be the rim that was broken, and we needed to fix it. We organized late night with a new tire, to be delivered to where we stood parked with our camper the next morning at 8am. Of course the guy showed up at 9, with no tire... he took the broken one off, and left us with a promise to be back with a new one in one hour. This one hour turned to 4, and we started to get in a hurry to get to budapest in time. When he finally arrived, he wanted €1267 for the job, which we obviously refused to pay since we'd get no receit for it, and really, who would pay this much for a tire?! At this time we had no believes in the austrian people, until we made another call to a rescue company. the guy showed up within the hour, took a look at our camper and made a few calls, and took us with him to a tire dealership. We got a new tire and rim for €60, and even the 5 bolts that the other guy ran off with was included. so this unknown austrian guy, is our hero of the day.
"However we regret that we didn't get to budapest in time, and therefore had to cancel our apperance there. we are really sorry, because we had really looked forward to see the city and play our first ever show in hungary. The previous shows has gone well, and we have had an absolutely fantastic time together with Trouble and Pentagram and the crew. We are now looking forward to play the rest of the tour, and to see as many of you as possible the next week!"
The Dillinger Escape Plan has posted a new studio recording video for their upcoming album "Option Paralysis," which can be viewed below. The band also issued the following update:
"Yessir....today we're like Santa....and goodies abound. Here's a new video from about the midway point of recording Option Paralysis....week 4. Sorry we're a little late, but as you guys know, quality takes time(sometimes a lot of time!) here in the DEP camp.
"So...we started recording around September 6th...we're a month in, we have a few weeks to go. This time next month, we will have a new FINISHED RECORD in our hands. Release date, pre-orders, wave of tour dates, all that stuff, coming soon. We'll check in with you next week with a new video. 'Til then, I want you all to be, and I know we'll be, DOIN' IT LIVE!!!!" I'm extremely proud to have the opportunity to finally bring these albums to you, I have been planning this for many years. It will be an experience that I hope we will all remember for years to come.

Illinois metallers Thyateira have issued the following update about recording new material and their upcoming tour dates:
"Hello boys, girls, both, and yonder.
"Anyways, to business...we thought we should throw your pretty faces a little update as to where we are now, what we have done these last couple months, and what we have coming up.
people like lists because they are simple, easy to read, and fun. so we'll list everything for you :)
"WHAT HAS THYATEIRA BEEN UP TO LATELY? 1) we recently recorded a cover for the song "House That Pain Built" by industrial 80's rock band Killing Joke. this song will be on a compilation CD included in a book that is being written by a former member of the band. so keep your eyes peeled on bookshelves near you!
"2) we have been aired on over 500 radio markets across the US and Canada, and am also being played on the Music Choice Metal channel (where many of you awesome friends have discovered us from). keep your ears open to a local metal station near you, and hey, call in and request us eh? :)
Texas death metallers Decrepitaph have issued the following update about finishing the recording of their new album:
"After a couple of small delays, we are proud to announce the second full length Decrepitaph album 'Beyond The Cursed Tombs' is now completed! It is being sent to Patrick Bruss for his mixing/mastering skills and we hope to have a sample song up in a month or so.
"Since we are without a bassist, Sinworm and Elektrokutioner split the bass duties with 4 and 5 tracks done respectively. Also, Elektrokutioner laid down a lot of backing vocals for this album, so expect a different voice in the mix as well. We have uploaded 60+ pictures from the recording session, so go check those out if you are interesting in seeing how the madness gets finished.
"Also, we will have a nice surprise available with the second album orders. We aren't going to say what it is now, but the people that are quick to buy 'Beyond The Cursed Tombs' from either us OR Razorback Records will get something extra for their support. It's a very limited 'collectors item' type of thing, so stay tuned for that as well! Thanks to everyone and we will unveil some surprises soon!"
Swedish progressive melodic death metallers Scar Symmetry recently shot a video for the first single, "Noumenon & Phenomenon," off their upcoming album, "Dark Matter Dimensions," which was released on October 2, 2009 (Europe) and will be released on October 20, 2009 (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records.
Bassist Henrik Ohlsson comments: "We're pleased to announce that the video for the song 'Noumenon and Phenomenon,' shot in early September this year is coming together nicely. The director Maurice Swinkels is currently editing it and from what we've seen he's doing a damn fine job! We shot the video at two locations here in Sweden, the first one was basically a photostudio and the second location was...get ready now...an abandoned and haunted insane asylum!"
Maurice Swinkels comments: "Was great meeting up with the Scar Symmetry guys again since I produced their very first, one of the 'The illusionist' videos as well. We had 2 locations, one was shot with greenscreen, one was an old mental hospital which was actually near the studio of Peter Tagtgren! Very cool!"
