Forever Still Releases New Album Trailer

On October 21st, the Danish high flyers from Forever Still unleash their debut album "Tied Down" via Nuclear Blast. Today the band launches a new album trailer available below.

In this new clip, front woman Maja Shining speaks about the aspects of being a "do-it-yourself" band producing the music, shooting music videos, designing artwokr, and taking band pictures without outside assistance.

“We had talked about the album artwork for a while and one day it just hit me while scrolling through Tumblr, as I saw nothing but a pair of hands reaching for the sky on a white background," singer Maja remembers.

She goes on to say, "Everything else just shaped itself around it in my head and I quickly put together a made-up image in Paint consisting of cutouts of whatever I could find on the internet to simulate the different elements I had in mind and sent over the idea to Mikkel. Luckily he liked the concept and could see past my ridiculous cut and paste creation and how we could make it come to life under the title 'Tied Down' - a title we had already discussed for the album and which was the perfect fit for this cover art.” More...

Chasing Safety Announces New Album

After taking time to write and record new music, post-hardcore outfit Chasing Safety is thrilled to announce the release of sophomore album "Nomad" on January 6th, 2017 with Outerloop Records.

The band makes this announcement shortly following the relaunch of Outerloop Records in partnership with Cooking Vinyl America. "Nomad" was co-written and produced, mixed, and mastered by Kile O'Dell and Curtis Martin. The theme of the album is a relatable one: how no matter the size or amount of people that surround you, the feeling of being alone is still present.

Johnny Galivan elaborates: "'Nomad' is a genuine album about life. A lot of the songs on this album are about the thoughts I have about growing up and seeing how fast life goes by. The album is called 'Nomad' because the overarching theme comes down to the idea that you are on your own to figure life out and make your own decisions.

"It was a blast to create - we wrote this album collectively in the same room with one another and it goes to show that writing together not only makes us better musicians but we've also come up with an album that is our best to date and one we're extremely proud of." More...

Green Bastard Streaming 18 Minute Song

New England stoner-doom trio Green Bastard recently announced debut LP "Pyre" is due out November 16th via Midnight Werewolf Records on cassette and digital download.

The band has now unleashed a full (18 minute) version of opening track "Thoros," which is streaming below. Midnight Werewolf comments:

"'Thoros' epitomizes the heft that makes 'Pyre' such a formidable listen. It builds with a patience that gives tension ample room to build, and when the time comes for it to deliver on its fuzz-drenched promises it does not disappoint. It is this skill that sets great doom apart from the uninspiring masses, and Green Bastard slowly hammer their greatness home with this 18 minute monster.

"‘Pyre’ is an immense listen. Comprised of three sprawling tracks, it takes just under an hour to run its course, but has an intangible gift of drawing the listener into its own reality. In the vein of Sleep, Green Bastard churn out groovy, driving riffs, which are further blended with the filthy fuzz of Boris and Monolord. Touches of post-rock and post-metal reveal themselves in evocative guitar lines that glide over the top of the rolling mass. Mastered by Will Killingsworth of Ampere and Orchid, and following on from a storming set at RPM Fest, it is an excellent new work from the fertile New England heavy music scene." More...

Craving Issues Details Of New Album "By The Storm"

In the eye of the storm! The music from Germany’s Craving carries influences of extreme metal, folk, power metal and classic with it to leave a real battlefield behind. The self-titled debut and follow-up "At Dawn," as well as numerous shows and festivals all over Europe (alongside Ensiferum, Equilibrium, o.a.) already proved the strength of the band and the songs. The band also won over artists like Helge Stang (ex-Equilibrium), Nils Loeffler (Orden Ogan) and Chris Caffery (Savatage), who did gueat appearances.

On the newest piece of work "By The Storm," the band is feistier than ever with a matured songwriting and a production that leaves enough space for all musical ingredients. Guitarist and singer Ivan Chertov produced the album on his own and once again left the mixing and mastering to Christoph Brandes (Finsterforst, Necrophagist, Imperium Dekadenz). The band's passion for the literature of George R. R. Martin not only inspired the lyrics but it also lead to the idea of doing a cover-version of the "Game Of Thrones" theme. This bonus track rounds down the album perfectly. More...

Backdawn Declares "I Saw Him Drowning" In Video

Continuing on the success of recent album "I Shall Burn Your Empire," French metal outfit Backdawn now released a brand new video for track "I Saw Him Drowning," which you can enjoy in the player below.

The video clip, showcasing the band's abrasive metal from start to finish, was shot in The Alps by director Sylvain Renault. "It follows a Satanist Guru, introducing a new follower into the sect, he passes his powers to the person in a codified ritual that caricatures similar rituals found in Christianity, explains vocalist and guitarist Chris Snaeder. "At the end the leader commits suicide by drowning."

The song subject came from a personal experience of Snaeder's having come across someone drowning during the time that he was writing lyrics and songs for the album. "I saved his life," states Snaeder. "I needed to write a song about the event, I was so upset that day. The person was dying in front of a dozen people without anyone going to help them. The song, and this clip are a way to say that life goes on, no matter who's alive or dead, but also that life deserves to be lived, with passion and determination. Death is a part of life and yet everyone should have the time to accomplish something and to leave their trace about them."
