In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, Slash (Velvet Revolver, ex-Guns N Roses) says that he considered Axl Rose (Guns N Roses) as one of the singers for his recent solo project, explaining that Rose would be able to sing the shit out of all of his songs. I also believe this would give the two an opportunity to bond; each day calling Steven Adler (Adler’s Appetite, ex-Guns N Roses) and ask if he wants to get the band together then yelling “psyche!” Then hanging up the phone… More...

Slash has announced that he, in association with Scout Productions (of films Transsiberian and Fog Of War) has started his own production company called Slasher Films. Their first project, Nothing To Fear, is already underway. The horror/thriller will follow a family as it looks for a big change by moving to a small town in rural Kansas only to encounter an ancient demon with an insatiable blood lust. The screenplay was written by Jonathan W.C. Mills.
Slasher Films plans to produce contemporary horror films with a nod to the thrillers of the 70's and 80's. "I've always been a huge horror fan and creating films that take you back to the days where horror movies actually scared the hell out of you is something I've always wanted to do. My audience is made up of young, edgy, discerning consumers, with an appetite for quality and a hint of anarchy," explains Slash.

Eternal Tears of Sorrow has issued the following update about the band's recent and upcoming activity:
"Hello guys and gals, it's been a long time since we've been writing a blog entry here, so I suppose it's time to summarize what we've been doing during the past 12 months. We started our Finnish / European tour a year ago with several gigs here in Finland. You know, between 2001 and 2008, we only played four gigs(!) of which only one took place outside Oulu, our hometown(!!). There were a lot of reasons for not playing live shows during that time, and the most important reason was that between late 2001 and late 2004, we were in an inactive state - in short, this band didn't even exist at that time.
"But during the last 12 months, we've been doing more gigs than ever (excluding the year 2000 that was an exception in many ways). So, thanks to all who came to see us in Finland, Romania and Russia! We still have one more gig this year - Hamburg in a couple of weeks. There may be a gig or two next year, but we want to work on our next album in 2011.
"Currently, we're writing new songs. We already got a lot of 'em but you know, there's always room for new great songs. We have several ideas on how the next album should sound like... I can't tell you guys much about the ideas but let's just say we (once again) want to be versatile and try to to something new. We also want to make the album heavier, more extreme, more beautiful, more atmospheric than ever before.. Well, not in one song but as a whole. More...
Mike Conte, frontman and founding member of Early Man, has issued the following statement after the departure of drummer Adam Bennati.
"I haven't had a chance to get to a computer until now so here's a much-needed update for you.
"It's been a crazy few weeks, to say the least.
"About five days before this tour started, I made the decision to part ways with Adam, our drummer of the past seven years. A plethora of things were taken into consideration before making this difficult decision, but as the leader and founding member of the band, it is my responsibility to make decisions based on what I feel is best for myself and the band in both the short term and long term.
"I wish Adam the best in the future and have some fond memories of his time spent in the band. That being said, my number one interest as always is to take EARLY MAN to the next level, and that process continues.
"EARLY MAN has been my musical creative outlet for nearly 15 years, the band is essentially an extension of me. As always, the creative vision and everything that the band has been about since its inception continues to be steered by me and remains unchanged. There have been numerous musicians involved with the band over the years and there will be more in the future and I appreciate the time spent with all of them. For me, the beat goes on. I've already recently turned my attention to writing songs for the next EARLY MAN record and am eagerly looking towards the future with newfound interest.
"Speaking of time, I realize parting ways with a bandmember five days before the start of a U.S. tour is far from ideal, but it is what it is. We'll soon have another permanent drummer. In the meantime and in order to salvage this tour, I found a drummer through a good friend by the name of Jabari Parker in Los Angeles who learned six of our songs in one day, something that I would've thought was impossible when I started spreading the word that I was looking for a fill in for this tour. Rather than cancelling any dates, I practiced with Pete (our other guitarist) and the new drummer for about five hours and then we got into a van and drove 24 straight hours to Tulsa, Oklahoma to start our current tour. We played four shows without a bass player and then we picked up an old friend of mine in Austin, Texas who is the guitarist and singer of a band called LIONS OF TSAVO to play bass.
"Although it's been a whirlwind of insanity, we are having a fucking blast! I honesty haven't laughed this much in years. I can't remember a time in the recent past where I was having this much fun on a tour, something that has been missing in the band at least for me for many years now. Everyone from the fans to the bands have been such a huge support and they've made it easy to keep the fire burning.
"So if we're hitting your city over the next few weeks, come out and say hello, share a drink and bang your head.
"I apologize for the fact that we are playing an abbreviated set (6-8 songs a night) but the important thing is we're making it happen, and to be honest, it sounds pretty goddamn amazing given the circumstances, which attests to the talent and ability of the the fill-in drummer and bassist."
Operatika has issued the following update about working on a new album to be released in 2011:

This time we follow front man Johnny Haven as he enters Jacob Bredahls (Purified In Blood, The Kandidate) studio to lay down vocals for the album. Check out the third webisode below."
Finland's To/Die/For has checked in with the following update about recording new material:
"Heya, now drums are now recorded for the 5 songs and all feels good. Our next album will be more like real playing and it is not gonna sound as a machine would be playing it. (Like 99.9.% or more bands are doing nowadays and TDF also did before) We are bored to that 'shit' for now. Music must be more natural, and that is the only way to get more feelings on it.
"But we are also gonna use some programmed stuff, and on those parts we need to do editing and etc. anyway. And this studio talking is fucking boring too. Show me the way to the next whiskey bar and to the next little girl and let's fucking drink and make love until our brains will explode!
"Lyrics are gonna be from real life or at least based on real life. Not any meaningless gothic fantasy. 'Birds on the tomb stone.' I mean there is gonna be strong feelings from my life anyway. Love, deaths, fears, influences from another cultures, and also a bit hope in it....maybe. Also we will record (with respect) one Iggy Pop´s song. (cry for love) More...
Primitive Graven Image has issued the following announcement about a mini-tour this weekend supporting Skaldic Curse:
"Darkest greetings all, we'll be a part of a mini-tour this weekend supporting Skaldic Curse along with Swansea based black metallers Ghast (Todestreib Records) and new to the scene Bristol black metallers Throes over the following dates: 8th October - Camden Unicorn - Free Show, 9th October - Birmingham Ayslum, 10th October - Bristol, The Croft
"Skaldic Curse is of course the home of ex-Akercocke guitarist Paul Scanlan, and we're immensely looking forward to these dates. Extra support for the Birmingham Show comes from Towers Of Flesh, and at Bristol from Rosicrucian.
"Finally, with our regular bassist Psi unable to play the Birmingham show due to prior commitments, we'll be helped out live in Birmingham by none other than Abgott vocalist/lead guitarist Agamoth who'll be lending his talent and black metal fury to the lower 4 strings for a change! Here's to a weekend of Black Metal!"
German black metal outfit dark Fortress has posted their new music video online for the song, "Ylem," which is the title track of their latest studio album. You can check it out below.
Vocalist Morean states: "The title track of our last album is a spell summoning the death of the universe in an accelerated "big crunch". The end of all living matter in the universe is inevitable, and in this invocation the sorcerer is a witness to this inevitable cosmic disaster. The clip is set in an atmosphere of desertion, with no more signs of civilisation, after the exponentially growing sun has scorched away all traces of life. As a last refuge, going underground offers the only shelter that is left, where the protagonist willingly surrenders to destruction and embraces his own end in a vision evoking both the distant past and distant future of our planet." Candlelight Records has issued the following announcement about inking a record deal with Sigh:
"Candlelight Records is proud to announce the signing of Japanese Black Metal Experimentalists Sigh. Sigh were formed in April of 1990 and did two demos before the 'Requiem for Fools' 7" EP on Wild Rags, which led us to sign to Euronymous' Deathlike Silence Productions. The debut album 'Scorn Defeat' was recorded in 1993, but Euronoymous was murdered before its release, and Voices of Wonder Records took over DSP and released the 'Scorn Defeat.' Sigh then moved to Cacophonous Records and released: Infidel Art (1995) Ghastly Funeral Theatre (1996 mini album) Hail Horror Hail (1997) Scenario IV: Dread Dreams (1999) 'Hail Horror Hail' was chosen as one of the most important 100 heavy metal albums of the nineties in Terrorizer Magazine.
"Sigh signed to Century Media Records and then released 'Imaginary Sonicscape' in 2001. The album was again well received worldwide. The sixth album 'Gallows Gallery', the debut album for the newly recruited Junichi Harashima, was released in 2005 by Baphomet/Season of Mist Records (US) and Candlelight Records (Europe). It was chosen as No.14 album of 2005 in UK's Terrorizer Magazine. (This was re-mastered by James Murphy and re-released through The End Records in 2007.)
"The seventh album 'Hangman’s Hymn' , which is the fastest and the most symphonic album by Sigh, was released in 2007 on The End Records (US) and Osmose Prodcutions (Europe). 'Me-Devil' from this album was featured on the Canadian heavy metal documentary movie 'Global Metal' directed by Sam Dunn. ‘A Tribute to Venom’ was released in September 2008 on The End Records to coincide Sigh’s first US tour with Canada’s Unexpect. This is the first stuff to feature Dr. Mikannibal who joined the band in the end of 2007. More...

Germany's Blood of God has issued the following update on the recording process for the band's new full-length album:
"Hi metal headz, so, today is, so to speak, the second day of recording, we're currently taking the guitars - the rhythm guitar in particular. What can we say... for all of those interested: yes, we employ psychological manipulation tactics to influence the guitar player, risking serious conflicts, which burst out in wild outbreaks of pure aggression, to make the guitar player perform 110% of his abilities on this given record. Yes, you get crazy while recording! Stick around for more, and we got more coming up!"
Sweden's Within Y has checked in with the following new recording update:
"Yesterday night Jonas managed to record his last tracks, and the results were satisfying to say the least. The guitars are all done since a couple of days back. We all think that the overall sound so far is really great and that it has exceeded our expectations that we had while entering the studio. We've had some talented people over to help us with all the preparations, which is reflected in the so far unmixed tracks. It sounds amazing!
"Andreas is currently in Denmark together with the rest of the Amaranthe-crew, taking care of some serious business. But as soon as he is back we'll initiate the preparations needed for recording the vocal tracks. Check back soon as the 2nd studio report will be up any day now!"
