A new musical short-film type ad for a Guitar Hero/Doritoes tie-in is airing in the UK. While the video and song are both comical in their own, normally you want to promote something positive with an ad. You know, characteristics of cool and attractive people get associated with the product. What happens if the opposite is true? Boston thrash metal band Ravage has issued the following tour update regarding their recent cancellations:
"We'd like to apologize now to our friends in Idaho as we have been forced to cancel both Idaho shows. We are still stuck in Eugene OR. If you can believe it - we couldn't - the repair shop told us that the part was LOST...LOST! In the mail by the company shipping it! This is unreal... we have been forced to stay here until Thursday - when hopefully we will have things fixed and be back on the road in time to make it to our Vegas show. We were really looking forward to thrashing with our friends in Idaho, but it unfortunately will have to wait for a later tour. Hopefully we can make it back next year under better circumstances."
Glam metal band Steel Panther both pays massive tribute to and also mercilessly mocks the various cock rock and glam pioneers of the '80s and '90s. Samples of the band's music can be found at their official MySpace page. Mille Petrozza, the lead singer and guitarist of German thrash metal legends Kreator has checked in from South America with an update on how the bands world tour is going so far. The message reads as follows:
"We're right in the middle of our world tour as I'm writing this from a hotel room in San Salvador. This tour has led us through Russia, China, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Guatemala and now El Salvador. It proves ones again that metal has become a worldwide phenomena!
"No matter what cultural or religious background, there is always a huge audience on this tour! I'm overwhelmed by the reaction of the crowd every night and even though we have a tough schedule and we all have been jetlagged a lot, this is one of the most fun tours I've ever been on!
"We've met up with EXODUS, who are with us on this South/ Central American part of the tour and it's great to see them kill at every single show. This package is brutal, the fans are getting the full treatment - with Exodus and Kreator on one bill, this is a true night of violence! More...
In an update from Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn, he revealed that the band have been in the studio recently putting their own spin on the classic Pantera song, "Fucking Hostile." The message reads as follows:
"Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. After two and a half years of touring we're (finally) two months into a three month break, and let me tell you, it's been awesome!!! I've been out camping / wake-boarding a ton, Adam (Duce) is taking flying lessons and just did his first brief solo flight, Dave's (McClain) hanging in Alameda enjoying his new Yamaha drum kit (amazing!) and was hanging in L.A. with the KORN dudes and his long time buddy Ross Robinson, and Phil (Demmel) was most recently Best Man at his best friend Shack's wedding. We've also found time to hop into Trident Studios with Juan Urteaga and record a PANTERA tune for a b-side. We're doing 'Fucking Hostile'!!! Dave is done with drums (nailed it on the 2nd take!), and I finished guitars yesterday and got vocals in the bag. Phil comes in tomorrow, then Adam, then it'll be mixed and mastered by the end of the week. Mike Sloat has been documenting, so we'll probably have video snippets up when the whole thing gets closer to release.
"We also just announced our sole US. headline date on November 6th in NY, so fuckin' A!!! Come make a road trip to N.Y. for some raging metal!!!"

3 INCHES OF BLOOD is back with their new album, "Here Waits Thy Doom," and a massive worldwide touring schedule. The group just completed a lengthy, highly successful North American tour alongside In Flames, Between The Buried and Me, and The Faceless. The group immediately followed this up with a few headlining shows, which kick off on Oct. 7th and run through Oct. 29th.
3 INCHES OF BLOOD will take about two weeks off before hitting the road once again assuming the headlining role on a BloodyDisgusting.com sponsored trek with Saviours and Holy Grail in the support slots. This kicks off on November 13th and will be the last U.S. run until the spring of 2010.
In other band news, the group recently shot a video for the album’s vicious lead-off cut, "Battles and Brotherhood," that was produced and directed by the acclaimed Rick Podd, who has worked on such movies as "The Watcher" and "Hellraiser." The clip basically features the band set in the middle of a medieval battle and also showcases their acting abilities. Stay tuned to BloodyDisgusting.com over the next week for an exclusive video teaser to give you a little taste as to what’s to come with the full-length clip.
Cam Pipes (vocals) states: “We're off to a pretty good start in support of Here Waits Thy Doom. Our hometown show in Vancouver sold out beyond capacity and was amazing in every way. We had very supportive crowds at the few Western Canada shows we did afterwards. Currently, we are nearing the end of the U.S. tour with In Flames, Between the Buried and Me and The Faceless and as we had hoped, it has been a great tour. We usually get along with all the bands we tour with and this is no different. The shows have been hugely attended and fans have been quite enthusiastic to say the least.
“We have a week of headlining shows on the east coast with Children and Mantic Ritual before we go to Canada and tour our way back home across our home country. Saviours will be meeting up with us in southern Ontario to do the last week of Canadian dates. After a bit of time off we embark on the BloodyDisgusting.com (our favorite website) sponsored headlining North American tour. Again, Saviours will be joining us as well as Holy Grail. It's a busy fall season for us, but we wouldn't have it any other way.”

After three days, the full and uncensored version of the brand new video from Dark Funeral, “My Funeral,” has been pulled from MySpace.
Guitarist Lord Ahriman comments: "So, it took about 3 days, and from what I have been told, 30,000 views, for MySpace to pull our new majestic video for 'My Funeral.' That’s fucking lame to say the least! Even though I respect My Space and their rules, I’m totally against censorship. The way I see it, and as long as it’s not illegal (and there sure wasn’t anything illegal in the video), if you find something on the internet you don’t like, just don’t fucking watch it! How hard can it be? Let everyone else who enjoy it do so without your interfering. Either way, whoever flagged it should know that you just did us a great, great favor, thank you! Now people will hunt the uncensored version and I’m absolutely sure that you’re pathetic action will increase the plays with thousands of thousands of views. So once again, thank you, but fuck you!
I hope the rest of you enjoy our new tune and video anyway!
"Let them hate us as long as they fear us!"
An alternate, censored, version of the video will be added during the day at www.myspace.com/darkfuneral

In a recent interview with The Metal Den's Randy "Rocket" Cody, former Anthrax lead singer Dan Nelson revealed that he has two new projects underway, including one with current Testament drummer Paul Bostaph, who was also a founding member of Forbidden, long time drummer for Slayer and former member of Exodus. Some excerpts from the interview are as follows:
Rocket: You told me you’re now working on a new musical project. Is it going to be a solo Dan Nelson effort? Or with a new band entirely?
Nelson: "I have been writing my own music. But I am singing and playing guitar in the band Inside Hollow, as well as working on a new metal project with (drummer) Paul Bostaph (Testament, Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden) that is coming out killer! Where is it being recorded and who is producing it? No set studios or producers just yet. We are still in the writing process with both bands."
Rocket: When can fans expect to see it released?
Nelson: "I would say definitely 2010 for Inside Hollow, and hopefully the same for the other project."
20 Buck Spin has announced the signing of Providence, Rhode Island band Megasus for their self-titled debut album.
Megasus was formed by four guys working for Harmonix - the video game developer who brought the world’s most popular video games, Guitar Hero and Rock Band, to life. They decided to get together to create a metal band of wild power. Featuring long-time Providence musicians, most notably Brian Gibson, bass-player of noise-rock duo Lightning Bolt (here showing off his own drum skills), the band set out to simply have fun and write killer, memorable heavy metal songs. After having two songs, "Megasus" and "Red Lottery," both featured on this debut, placed into Rock Band and Guitar Hero 2 long before this album’s release, the band has already created a large awareness of their music to lovers of these video games.
Earlier in 2009 MEGASUS self-released an extremely limited edition vinyl version of their self-titled debut, a mere 200 copies. 20 Buck Spin got hold of a copy after happening across the band online and immediately contacted them about releasing the album on CD format to a wider audience, feeling these songs shouldn't be limited to such a small run. A mini-tour and a 2nd album are already in the planning stages.
"Megasus" will be available worldwide on November 24th. In the meantime, check out the band's music on their MySpace player.
Here's the "Megasus" tracklisting:
1. Ten Kingdoms
4. Hexes / Szaadek
5. Paladin Vs. Berserker
6. Red Lottery
7. Iron Mountain
