Maladie Announces New EP Release

Following the 2015 album "Still," Maladie has a new EP titled "Symptoms" that will drop on December 2nd via Apostasy Records. The label comments:

"Its running-time of nearly 42 minutes and the fact that there’s only one song on it doesn't really correlate with the expectations on this format. The contained song 'Divinitas – A Journey' also crushes conventions with its combination of unleashed extreme metal fury, mellow passages with pianos, saxophones, oboes and strings as well as polyphonic vocals and choirs. Their musical journey never unveils the next step to the listener which is perfectly shown on the atmospheric artwork (once again created by Remy of Headsplit Design)." More...

Anthrax Jams With Norman Reedus

After meeting Muary Povich and then Robert De Niro, Anthrax has now jammed with Norman Reedus (better known as Daryl Dixon on "The Walking Dead."

He joined Anthrax on stage last night at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, jamming on guitar during the band's classic "Indians." Anthrax's Frank Bello and Scott Ian are both huge fans of the show - in fact in 2015, Ian appeared in an episode playing one of the zombies, and unfortunately met a horrible demise with a metal pole through his head.

Before last night's show, Bello and Ian dropped by "The Walking Dead" set, hanging out with Reedus and the show's director/special effects artist Greg Nicotero. Anthrax is current on tour with Slayer and Death Angel, upcoming dates are below. More...

Holycide Crowd Funding New Album

Holycide is finishing the mixing and mastering process on new full-length album "Annihilate... Then Ask!" that is going to be a must-hear for lovers of good old 80's styled thrash.

"Annihilate... Then Ask!" contains 9 new songs plus a Detente cover, all recorded at Blood Cadillac Studios by Andy C. who's also doing the mix & mastering. Cover artwork was crafted by artist Andrei Bouzikov. Holycide has launched a crowd funding campaign for the album here, with the band also commenting:

"Even if the album will be released on Xtreem Music on 1st of February 2017, we are conscious that this is the underground and with such low and decreasing sales on physical formats, labels can't afford to pay studio & artwork costs that later will be difficult to recover, so we're financing everything by ourselves.

"For a relatively new band like us, of course it's quite some money, but we believe we're bringinig hell of a fucking awesome album and hopefully with your help by pre-ordering any of our items & combos, we'll get back, if not all, at least a good part of what we're investing in 'Annihilate... Then Ask!'" More...

Cokegoat Releasing "Drugs And Animals"

On November 25th, Chicago-based death doom collective Cokegoat will drop the torrential fruit of latest full-length, "Drugs And Animals," upon unsuspecting souls.

Engineered, produced, and mixed by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats) at Bricktop Recording and mastered by Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang, Earthless et al) at Saff Mastering, the nihilistic sounds of "Drugs And Animals" displays the unit manifesting a own unique brand of heavy, sullen music.

Comments the band: "'Drugs And Animals' is a tall refreshing Long Island Ice Tea in a craft cocktail world. It's trashy, it will get you fucked up, and you'll probably wake up in a strange place needing a double dose of antibiotics. To quote producer/engineer Andy Nelson during the recording sessions, 'This album is dense.' Since our 2013 debut LP Vessel, countless group texts have helped Cokegoat achieve growing friendships, razor sharp focus, mental stability, financial instability and a more advanced writing process. In other words, we are beyond stoked to get this record to your earholes."

Side A - Drugs
1. Quiet Tyrant
2. The Burner
3. Winter Of Fear
4. Nurture
Side B - Animals:
5. The Ruiner

Cognitive Posts "Haunted Justice" Video

"Deformity" is the impending new full-length album from Garden State-based death metal deviants Cognitive.

Set to drop via Unique Leader later this month, the nine-track slab of inexorable brutality was captured at Full Force Studio by Joe Cincotta and mastered at West West Side Studios by Alan Douches. In advance of its release, today an official lyric video to the track "Haunted Justice" comes online.

"'Haunted Justice' is about a town of tortured people attempting to exact their revenge on the witches that have stolen, sacrificed, and consumed their children," elaborates the band. "The only problem is, when you kill the Host body to Pure Evil, you only wind up doing it the favor of releasing it and unleashing true terror onto the world. Give it a listen, read, and learn the lyrics so you can sing with us next time we're in your town. Also, listen closely to the amazing guest spots from Misery Index's very own Mark Kloeppel who absolutely killed the track and brought a visceral sound of hate to life in his performance." More...

For Today Announces Farewell Tour

With heavy hearts, Iowa's diligent metalcore quartet For Today recently just announced the band's very final U.K. show. Today the band reveals that special guests at that show will be Loathe and Nothing Left. For Today put out the following statement:

“After over 11 years as a band, 6 full length albums and 1 EP, we have decided to make 2016 the last year of For Today. When we started this band in 2005, we never imagined that our music would make it out of Sioux City, Iowa, let alone take us all around the world multiple times.

"Our lives have been hugely impacted by the time we've spent making music and touring. We met our wives, had kids and moved to different states because of For Today. It's been an incredible experience, but we feel like now is the time to close this chapter of our lives and move on. There's no behind the scenes drama happening or disagreements between band members. We're all still best friends and will continue to be long after the band is over.

"We want to thank everybody who has made this possible, especially the fans who have kept us going for so many years. That's why we're excited to announce that we're doing an extensive farewell tour, hitting all our favourite cities. Come hang out with us one last time and let's make these last shows some that we'll never forget!”

Loathe comments: "We would like to thank For Today for inviting us to join them on their Farewell Tour, it is a great privilege to be a part of such a prestigious tour."

For Today’s final U.K. show will take place at renowned London venue The Underworld on the 27th of October, 2016. The band's last show ever will take place in Texas on December 18th. More...

Kickstarter Launched For Isometric Mech Shooter

A new Kickstarter just launched hoping to let gamers re-live the SNES Battletech era with a next generation online mech shooter inspired by the likes of Front Mission and Metal Slug. Check out the announcement trailer for "Antraxx" below, which features an electronic metal-inspired soundtrack.

All info on the crowd funding campaign can be found here (and if online-only games aren't your thing, a single player campaign is included in the stretch goals). The developers also comment on the game's background and story:

"Countless generations ago, mankind unleashed a devastating plague upon itself. Technology was developed to the point of perfection, wars were won in days and fought with squadrons of giant, piloted mechs. Nations grew greedy, their thirst for land and power was never quenched and almost all of Earth's resources were diminished.

"After generations of war, desperate for a resolve and each side too arrogant for a peace treaty, they began to research a type of weapon that no amount of armour or firepower could save the fragile human body from. Wave after wave of biological weapons were released - thousands of species extinct, the air left un-breathable, cities vacant and what was left of humanity had to live underground in bunkers. Any trace of government slowly dissolved, morals tossed aside for resources, land and weaponry.

"Many factions spawned as a result, humanity divided yet all living for the same purpose - to survive. Stuck in a perpetual war, will mankind exterminate themselves or find peace? You decide." More...

"Our new album is an exploration grief, isolation, and loss, shifting seamlessly between states of sheer terror, disquieting serenity, and crushing dissonance. It was written with a focus on emotional catharsis, lyrical honesty, and a thick, suffocating atmosphere.

Voodoo Terror Tribe Posts Guitar Playthrough

Voodoo Terror Tribe is just one month away from the November 11th, 2016 release of third full-length offering, entitled "The Sun Shining Cold." Following the release of a new track entitled "Cell" last week (featuring guest vocals by producer Cristian Machado of Ill Niño), the band today reveals a guitar playthrough video for the track featuring guitarist Emir Erkal.

Erkal describes the guitar set-up he uses: "This guitar that I used in this video (which I also used on some of the recording of this new album and also on stage most of the recent tour), is very special to me. I guess, like every old school metal head I'm a big Slayer fan as well, and this is a limited edition LTD Slayer 'Reign in Blood 25th Anniversary' Guitar by ESP, where the body is splattered with a reproduction of Larry Carroll's artwork from the cover of the controversial and influential thrash metal album 'Reign in Blood' released in 1986.

"The headstock has a special LTD logo in the famous Slayer typeface, next to the words 'Reign in Blood 25.' Pentagram inlays are set in the lower half of the fingerboard, with the Slayer logo inlaid near the 12th fret, with the Xtra thin U neck contour, ebony fingerboard with 24 extra jumbo frets, and the fierce EMG-81/85 active humbucker pick up combo. Black hardware and Slayer/Stars inlays add to the extreme vibe. It's an axe that's sure to set ears bleeding... And I have some beautiful DR Neon Green Strings on it to complete the great sound..." Famous Last Words Checks In From The Road

After we premiered the full new album "The Incubus" from Famous Last Words, the band hit the road with Alesana and Oh, Sleeper for a U.S. tour.

Still embarked on that trek that runs through October 12th, JT of Famous Last Words has checked in with us for the first in a series of exclusive tour diaries!

Check out his rundown of how the tour has been going, along with some stellar show photos courtesy of Justin Conant. JT comments:

"We left my house the night of September 23rd. It was a 14 hour drive to the first show. When we finally arrived at the venue, it started as most shows do. We checked out the venue, loaded in, and set up Merch. But the best part of the first day of tour is meeting all of the people on the package that you will be spending the next few weeks with. Immediately, there was a super positive energy among the package and it hasn't changed since then.

"A few days into tour, we played at Webster Hall in NYC. This whole day was a crazy experience. Between fighting cabbies for parking spots, one of the craziest shows on the tour so far, and the absolute craziest load out ever through a crowd of hundreds of people, it made for a pretty epic day of tour.

"The rest of the shows have been incredible too. Everyone in the package is getting closer and we are all finally starting to get each others names down (one of the biggest tour struggles ever). It's definitely been one hell of an experience and a great time and we don't expect it to slow down at all on this run."

Stay tuned for the next tour diary to arrive next week as Famous Last Words continues to support new release "The Incubus." More...

At some point it became clear that Jarmos holiday is stretching longer and longer, so it became evident for Tuomo to step in. And why the hell not - since the show #1 with the dude it was clear that the chemistry, the energy, the friendship and the brotherhood is there. So we’re proud’n’loud and pleased to welcome the man from south-west Finland to join us east coasters! Many good things will follow soon!”

Tuomo’s words of wisdom: “My first encounter with OG was around 2001 when they and one of my previous bands played at a same metal happening in my hometown Turku. I bought their demo CD and thought they played the crap out of the bands performing that night. We have bumped into each other every now and then, but it wasn’t until 2010 when I had a chance to get to know Markus a bit more. More...

Sound Storm Announces New Album "Vertigo"

Italy's Sound Storm is ready and more than excited to reveal the long awaited upcoming album "Vertigo." The album will be released by Rockshots Records in collaboration with Stageblast Entertainment on Friday, December 2nd.

The album is not simply the follow up to the highly acclaimed "Immortalia" (see review here), it's the new Sound Storm World teased massively by the band in the last couple of years.

"Vertigo" can be considered both as a metal album and a multiple episode TV series created by Sound Storm and realized by Grey Ladder/DImago productions under the direction of Taiyo Yamanouchi.

The new album has been engineered by Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, After Forever, Ayreon, etc.) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, the whole artwork was created once again by renowned artist Gustavo Sazes, who has been working with the band since 2007.

The first single/prologue episode of "Vertigo" - "The Dragonfly" will be available November 4th and the entire project will premiere live on the mainstage of "Lucca Comics and Games" on Halloween night. Pre-orders of the album will begin soon through the band's official website. A short video teaser can be viewed below.

"Vertigo" is a huge step forward in the band's musical style because more influences come along with the songwriting and the visual creations. The electronic and symphonic scores lead the listener to the catchiest tunes and the most epic chorus ever, while the extreme metal riffs and the sweetest melodies have never been so combined together in the band's career.

The first show of the tour will reveal how the band will handle the live appearances from now on: not just a classic metal show, but a journey inside the gates of "Vertigo." More details about the series, actors, characters, storyline and setting will be unveiled day by day, in order to let you taste small snippets of this world entirely appreciating its grandeur.

The track list for "Vertigo" is:

1. Vertigo
2. The Dragonfly
3. Metamorphosis
4. Forsaken
5. Original Sin
6. The Ocean
7. Spiral
8. Gemini
9. Alice
10. The Last Breath More...
