Death metal pioneers Incantation have recorded an exclusive track for Decibel Magazine's Flexi Disc series, which is available only to subscribers. For their contribution to Decibel, Incantation founder John McEntee dug into his vault and pulled up the tune "Degeneration," off the self-titled 1989 demo from his pre-Incantation tech-thrash band, Revenant.
Incantation gave the song a proper reworking and the deathed-up, newly-recorded version of the song will appear inside the December 2012 issue of Decibel. Non-subscribers have until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10th to visit Decibel Magazine to sign up in time to receive the disc. Incantation is set to release the follow-up to 2006's "Primordial Decimation," a concept album entitled "Vanquish in Vengeance," this November on Listenable Records.
For A Life Once Lost, the five years between “Iron Gag” and “Ecstatic Trance” was a period of transition that drastically restructured the band. The lineup was cut down to vocalist Bob Meadows and guitarist/vocalist Douglas Sabolick, who forged ahead as a duo in the aftermath of these changes. Working on a new album took years, and after a few complete ones were scrapped, they hunkered down and got down a collection of songs that proved satisfactory for the two musicians.
A Life Once Lost has been a polarizing band ever since they got noticed back in 2003 with the excellent “A Great Artist,” and Meadows is proud of how they have always done their own thing without worrying about fan response. That looks like it will continue with “Ecstatic Trance,” judging on the mixed reactions the few songs that leaked so far have gotten. I got into a lively discussion with Meadows about this situation, what “Ecstatic Trance” represents to him as it relates to the band’s status, and his thoughts on the Internet’s influence on the music industry. Dave Suzuki, former guitarist for Vital Remains (1997-2009) and Ray McCaffrey (Sin Of Angels/Grief) have resurfaced with a new musical project callefd Churchburn. Dave comments, “Churchburn is very different from Vital Remains. Ray and I wanted to do something slow and heavy...just something pummeling to the listener.”
You can check out a song from the band titled "Kneel Upon Charred Remnants" in the player below. The following press release was also issued:
"Churchburn is the musical collaboration between two of the undergrounds masters of misery Dave Suzuki, best known for his mesmerizing guitar work and brutal drumming in Vital Remains and Ray McCaffrey, who carved out sonic drum patterns for Sin Of Angels and Grief. The two have set out to share with the world their love of the riff, not only the heaviest but also the most haunting. Each song is crafted with the most sinister of intent. Churchburn wants the listener to feel a true sense of dread as the song progresses. This is only the beginning..." More...

The release features new drummer Fauzzt (ex-Impiety) and follows the "Woe To The Conquered" album. The following press release was issued about "The Heretic Priests of Amon:"
"This release consists of two epic tracks and a 'bonus track' with majestic guitar riffs, a series of tempo changes and technical extreme drumming accompanied by chugging subsonic bass and breakneck blast beat drumming syncopated to classic tremolo death metal riffs. The titular track is lyrically driven by evil practices of ancient Egyptian priests in the context of Islamic history. "
Umar Khan, song-writer and vocalist of Oshiego explains, "The priests of Amon were one of the most defiant groups of people who opposed the teachings of Prophet Moses. There's no better figure than that to represent such an extreme song. The dark orchestrations of these priests definitely suits the violent approach of the song." More...

"Building their anthems on straightforward punk beats with the filth of unholy black n’ roll running through their veins, Okkultokrati proudly let their influences from the masters of the genre bleed through, yet their spine-crushing anthems speak for themselves with unique guitar atmospheres and a mix of high/low-end riffage busting through the thunderous percussion and gnarled vocals. As part of the infamous Black Hole Crew scene, their local nihilistic brethren in Obliteration, Haust, Dark Times and a handful of other local henchmen remain their only comrades, purposely." More...

"It has been a while since we last toured Europe and the UK and quite frankly, we can't wait for it. Between the Buried and Me are one of our favourite bands and to share a stage with them every night for over a month is just awesome. Then to be reunited with our brüs in Periphery after our US stint with them will no doubt be a fun time for all. We shall see you at the shows, come by the merch stand and get involved in the jokes!"
The Safety Fire will be touring in support of debut album, "Grind The Ocean," which was released to critical acclaim at the beginning of April this year through InsideOut Music. After nearly two years of nonstop live demolition, West Coast gore-torn death metal goliaths Exhumed recently entered the studio to record to the follow-up to 2011’s "All Guts, No Glory" full-length. The band is currently tracking drums at Trench Studio in Corona, California with John Haddad (Hirax, Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). Everything else will be tracked at Arcane Digital Recording in Chandler, Arizona with Ryan Butler (Misery Index, Landmine Marathon, Phobia).
The as-yet-untitled long player is expected to offer up ten tracks of audio sickness including “Carrion Call,” “Sickened,” “The Rotting,”and “Coins Upon The Eyes,” and will be released via Relapse Records sometime next year.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the new material: “We're super psyched to be back in the studio working on a new record. The songs we've worked up are a bit darker and more open this time around, but of course built on the same disgusting foundation we've been repulsing people with for years.
"It's a really natural progression from All Guts... and it's a lot of fun to work with the lineup that's done all the touring. It feels a lot more like a ‘real band’ situation this time around. There will be periodic studio reports on our blog if you want to stay abreast of all the excruciating details. We can't wait to get this thing ready to assault your ears!"
Exhumed 2012 features the smoldering lineup of Harvey alongside bassist Rob "Body Bag" Babcock, drummer Mike Hamilton, and guitarist/vocalist Bud Burke, who played bass with the band from 1999 – 2004 and recently rejoined the legion for their live rituals on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour. Further studio updates to be announced in the coming weeks. Upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...

Greek act Phase Reverse has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new vocalist and bassist:
"Hey everybody! It's been awhile since our last update so let us first start by saying we hope everyone had a great summer! Our summer was a bumpy one but we are looking forward to a smoother ride after our somewhat chaotic last few months. We have some changes to announce that can only be said if bad things happen for good reasons then we hope this is the case.
"With a heavy heart we must inform everyone that Tas Ioannidis, vocals/bassist, has left the band for personal reasons. We fully support his departure and wish him all the best and much future success.
"This change came to us as a shock due to the sudden nature, during the recording of our second studio album. Sadly we had to cancel many shows that were booked, while we apologize to our friends and fans we hope you understand it was out of our hands.
"After holding many auditions we are proud to reveal two new additions to the band. Takis Mark is our new vocalist and Kostas Dragon-K is our new bassist. Takis and Kostas are both great musicians that are a perfect fit for Phase Reverse. During the auditions and subsequent rehearsals its as if we have all been playing together for years!
"We are now prepared and very excited to enter the studio to work on our second studio album. It is our outlook to release the album in 2013 with the blessings of Aural Music. We will be performing shows throughout the fall with the new line up so our Greek fans will have the opportunity to hear fresh new songs with the new line up before the album's release.

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody announced that guitarist Dominique Leurquin suffered an injury to his left hand, which occurred when he was working with a circular saw at his home. The injury was serious enough to cause some to believe that the former Rhapsody of Fire guitarist would potentially lose his left hand. However, doctors were optimistic that Leurquin would regain the ability to play guitar, with most of the injury centering around his thumb. Luca Turilli stated that the planned European leg of the Cinematic World Tour will proceed without Leurquin, and his guitar parts will be present as backing tracks mixed to the right as if he was there.
The injury delayed the release of the "Fantasia Gotica" ballad, which was the song that wasn't ready for the band's "Ascending to Infinity" LP. The song was planned as a free download. However, the band will release a new music video for the song "Clash of the Titans" next week.
The full announcement reads as follows:
"Around two weeks ago the members of RHAPSODY lived one of the most dramatic moments of their career and they finally want to reveal to everybody the difficult moment they had to face because of what recently happened to their guitar player DOMINIQUE LEURQUIN.
" 'Some days ago my girlfriend Nadia received a phone call from Laurence, the wife of Dominique. I understood from Nadia’s tears that something terrible just happened…' says LUCA TURILLI. And adds: 'A river of blood and then the dramatic run to the hospital with Dominique almost dying for all the blood he shed. Three hours of surgery and the risk to lose the left hand definitely. I could simply not believe it…'
"Dominique injured himself with a circular saw while working at home. One wrong movement and the saw reached the center of his hand. After the complicated surgery and everyone around thinking it will be difficult for Dominique to play his beloved instrument once again, the doctors spent some more optimistic words to describe the situation, speaking about a long period of rehabilitation and some major problems eventually related to the thumb only. Therefore it seems there will be again the possibility for Dominique to play a guitar, and maybe sooner than what can be expected. What is needed is a lot of strength and mind power but everybody knows what represents the music for Dominique and so there is no doubt he will do miracles in this sense. More...
