Chilean thrash metal band Warchest has announced the departure of its lead guitarist Domingo Vidal, recruiting Jose Tomas Garcia as the new guitar player, and the addition of Raimundo Correa (Ex-Nuclear) as permanent bass player. Bassist Raimundo Correa commented on the addition:
"When Cris and the members of the band Warchest contacted me to see the possibility of playing with them, the first thing I did was to listen to their material and it was a no brainer… Immediately I called them back and told them 'yes.. I'm in.' I have many expectations, first of all coming back to the live shows. We are already working on rehearsals for that, and in the meantime writing what may be the new material for a new album some time in the future… For now I will focus on playing the material and keeping on growing with them internationally".
Guitarist/vocalist Christian Pelaez added:
"We feel really sorry for the departure of our friend Domingo. He was a very important part of the history of the band right from the beginning and we wish the best for him in the future. We thought about on looking for a new guitar player, but I made sure to convinced Jose to take over...it was the right thing to do. Now, the addition of Raimundo Correa makes us happy, he brings new expectations and experiences and we just want to come back to the stage and rip it out!"
Currently Warchest is working on the filming of its music video for the track "Fear Of The Machine."
Weapon will unleash "Embers and Revelations" this coming October 9th and you can stream the entire new album through Invisible Oranges right here. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Canada's black/death destroyers Weapon have made a name for themselves as one of the most crushing new bands to come along in the extreme metal underground over the past few years. After two successful underground LPs, the band announced earlier this year that they had joined forces with Relapse Records and would be recording their third full length offering. Soon after, the band embarked on one of the most evil tours of the year, joining forces with Marduk and 1349.
"The new effort is certainly the band's finest work to date and will find an instant connection to fans of Behemoth, Deicide, Morbid Angel and Septicflesh. The album artwork was created by Benjamin Vierling and can be viewed (along with pre-orders and a lyric video for the track 'Crepuscular Swamp, Unhinged Swine') at this location."
German progressive death metal titans Obscura have announced a special 10th anniversary show this December in Landshut, Germany. This one night only event will take place on December 15th at Alte Kaserne with special guests Dark Fortress, Hokum, and Illegimitation, an incarnation of the band’s original lineup, which will play the band's first demo in its entirety. More info on the show, including ticket information is available via the band’s official website here.
Guitarist/Vocalist Steffen Kummerer commented on the upcoming anniversary show: “After years of recording, touring & building up a loyal fanbase around the world we invite all of our friends & fans to our 10 year anniversary show in Landshut, Germany. We celebrate the end of the ‘OMNIVIUM Worldtour‘ in the same city where it started early 2011. To make this event something special we reformed the original lineup of Obscura for a short set, playing the full ‘ILLEGIMITATION‘ demo as a whole. While DARK FORTRESS and HOKUM share a long history of links with OBSCURA, it seems almost self-evident to have both booked for ‘10 YEARS OBSCURA – A Decade Of Progressive Death Metal‘. Let’s make this a great evening for everyone.”

October 30th, 2012 sees the North American release of Killing Joke’s new album, "MMXII," through Spinefarm Records. The following press release was issued about the album:
"2012 is the perfect year for Killing Joke to be releasing an album that is as dense and dark as the surrounding swirls of madness in the world. At a time when the news is on fast-forward and the planet seems to be descending into lunacy, who better than Killing Joke to reflect such a sentiment?
"When their original lineup of Jaz Coleman, Geordie, Youth and Big Paul reconvened in 2008 after working together intermittently, that strange voodoo once again filled the room. Individually, they have a power, but together they have something sulphurous and strong that few bands can match. Killing Joke are not an average band with an average agenda; they lock the door and let the ritual commence, and MMXII is the result.
"MMXII’s 11 tracks are an avalanche of sound -- empowering whilst jolting you awake. They are as fascinating as chatting with Coleman, as he talks of future humans living forever but with no emotions, and of the Age Of Aquarius and the cycles of time, the shift in the earth’s electro-magnetic field, the end of extreme capitalism, the Arab Spring and how his trips to Cairo to record music have added to his belief that when Cairo falls everywhere else follows… MMXII is possibly Killing Joke’s best album ever; a dense and multi-layered work. The songs are great washes of sound – a death disco with huge slabs of guitar that soundtracks these dangerous times. It’s an end-of-time album that somehow finds moments of optimism in the downward swirl of the planet. Finding hope in the apocalypse, this album just could be their masterpiece."
Coleman comments: “I can’t see the point contemplating extreme life extinction -- it’s good for nothing. It’s nihilism in the absolute even considering it.” This kind of thinking sets the tone for the record, with 2012 and the state of flux the key issue. “It’s in many different calendars – the great unveiling, the sky and the earth coming together. It’s a significant date. Everything is speeding up. It’s not just our minds shrinking. We are heading towards the Eschaton and no-one really knows what’s going to happen.” More...

Warseid has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitarist:
"We have a great many things to announce this day! First and foremost, it is with sorrow that we must announce that Brandon Salaway has relocated permanently to Nashville, Tennessee in order to pursue an individual musical career and attend college.
"He remains a close friend and we will likely continue to work with him in the future, but he is no longer a permanent member of the band. To that end, it is with joy that we reveal the identity of our new lead guitarist and the newest member of Warseid: Mr. Steven Hoff!
"Steve has been rehearsing with us for a little over a month now and has well shown his talent and personality. We are happy to say that both are a terrific fit. He has learned the existing lead parts and added his own personal touch to them, and has jumped in and is contributing heavily to the writing process, which brings us to our next announcement: the first ever Warseid full length.
"That's right, we are officially working on a full length album. We have no date or name to release as of yet, but we have several songs in the works and a concept around which the album will be based. As more details become set in stone we will reveal them to you. But, for the time being you will just have to wait patiently and enjoy Where Fate Lies Unbound!"

Warbeast just wrapped up a string of U.S. tour dates with Down, and is now on a break before heading over to Europe, also alongside Down, on the 19th. The band has now issued the following road report:
"Warbeast has been on the road home since about 1am. Looking like we will be home around 6:30. Once again we want to thank DOWN for this tremendous opportunity to tour with them. Anselmo, Kirk Windstein, Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower and Patrick Bruders Also thanks to Kate Richardson, Scott Earnhart, Chad Piriano, Carter Withey, Mike Thompson, Eightball and Darrin Jones for being such a great crew and making us feel welcome.
"Also thanks to our brothers and label mates in haarp! Plus Big Okie Doom, Mount.Carmel, Pentagram, Saint Vitus and Child Bite for also sharing the stage with us on some of the shows during this tour.
"Easily the BEST and most successful tour for Warbeast so far. Got to play in front of some very large and receptive crowds. We sold tons of merch too. It was obvious we gained some new fans too.
"Some typical comments after our set at shows: 'I've never heard of you guys before tour, but you've got a new fan now.' 'Your album and YouTube videos don't do you justice, you are so much more intense live.' 'Thanks for bringing back true old school thrash metal.' 'You guys are the best band out of D/FW since Pantera.' 'The new songs ruled!' 'When you guys come back here I will be there.' Needless to say, hearing that shit is very cool for all of us. More...
New York City native, surrealist, and metal artist Vincent Castiglia recently announced his upcoming solo art exhibition entitled "Resurrection," taking place from October 4th - 31st at Sacred Gallery NYC (located at 424 Broadway 2nd Floor between Canal and Howard, NYC). Vincent handled the artwork for Triptykon's "Eparistera Daimones." The gallery will host an opening reception on October 4th from 8-11pm. "Resurrection" will include collection of Vincent’s paintings, which are created exclusively in his own human blood.
In the privacy of his studio, Vincent practices a kind of modern-day phlebotomy, siphoning the life force which he believes contains his own psychic energy, while giving it an outlet and form. In doing so, he dissolves the barrier between artist and art in a most literal and immediate sense. This retrospective encompasses all of Vincent’s available work from the beginning of his career and aims to examine the congruency of life and death.
Vincent recently took the time to explain his two favorite pieces in the exhibition, “Feeding” and “Stings of the Lash,” which are displayed below. More...
After previously streaming the new song "Aeons Black" online, Swedish death metal squadron Aeon has now released an official lyric video for the track. Check out the video below.
The tune comes off the band’s forthcoming new studio offering of the same name, set to drop via Metal Blade Records on November 20th, 2012. The mammoth 15-track "Aeons Black" was recorded at Empire Studio in Östersund, Sweden, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Ronnie Björnström (Garageland Studios) and features cover art by Kristian “Necrolord” Wåhlin (Bathory, At The Gates, Dissection, Emperor et al).
Notes founding guitarist Zeb Nilsson of the album: “This is definitely our most varied albums to date; it has heavier songs yet it also has lots of fast blastbeats and double bass drumming. It’s groovier this time, which I think we lacked on our last album, Path of Fire, which was fast paced almost all the way through. And no, we have not gone softer in any aspect; it’s just easier to catch with all this grooviness. It’s metal right up your ass!”

Today Decibel Magazine hosts the premiere of Nidingr’s “Greatest Of Deceivers,” the title track from the band’s upcoming new long player, slated to drop in North America on November 20th. Check out the song at this location.
The recent Indie Recordings signees feature within their illustrious ranks past and present members of Mayhem, Gorgoroth, DHG (Dødheimsgard), 1349 and God Seed, among others. Comments guitarist Teloch of the offering, "With Greatest Of Deceivers, we wanted to try a new approach on things. We are actually working together on every song thus making the material much stronger. What we also did was slow everything down a little bit. Now it’s aggressive and at the same time very listenable. We even had this ‘grazy’ idea to not use any triggers, and have everything recorded and mastered through old analog gear. This album is the most alive, organic and raw album we’ve ever made."
"G.O.D." was recorded at Crystal Canyon Studios in Oslo, -- home to a host of prominent Norwegian acts including cult experimentalists Ulver -- produced by guitarist Teloch, mixed by Anders Møller (Kitchie Kitchie Ki Me O, Euroboys, 120 Days, Turbonegro, etc.) and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios.
This third full-length continues the theme from "Sorrow Infinite And Darkness," based on Enochian texts. As on the previous album, ten Enochian Æthyrs are evoked through the course of the album. For pre-orders, point your browser right here. More...
Bay Area death metal act Autopsy and E-Comix are pleased to announce that Halloween 2012 will be ground zero for the release of "Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral," a fully-authorized comic book.
"Autopsy has driven the hearse to bring death metal to the masses since the late 1980s," said E-Comix President and Publisher, Vince Brusio. "It was a natural fit to fuse their brand of music with a grisly ghost story. So we took the cover image of Severed Survival, expanded on it, and developed a story that takes place on Halloween night. It's pretty gory stuff. As it should be."
Vocalist/drummer for Autopsy, Chris Reifert, commented, "We're damn excited about this, and know it will be a real killer when it's done!"
Fans can now order "Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral" online at this location. Shown the cover and told the plot for the book at the 10th Anniversary Maryland Deathfest, Autopsy gave the green light for the project, which brings to life the band's brand of doom in a ferocious full-color nightmare. Finland's SoulHealer has entered the studio to record a new album, and the band also posted the following statement online:
"For the next few weeks the studio of sound engineer Teemu Ojalehto in Kajaani will be the home of SoulHealer. In several sessions the band will record the follow up for their debut album 'The Kings Of Bullet Alley,' which received almost only great reviews by the press, and also the fan reaction was more than positive.
"So the expectations for the next album are high, as it will be also the first release through Pure Legend Records, SoulHealer signed a worldwide deal with the German label in June 2012.
"But the band does not feel any pressure, as they are more than confident that the new song material is not only as strong as 'The Kings Of Bullet Alley,' but maybe even stronger. A release date for the still unnamed album is not set yet, but you can expect it to be out in spring 2013."
You can also check out SoulHealer's music over at the band's Facebook profile here.
Void Moon has revealed "Hammer of Eden," the first song off its debut album, "On the Blackest of Nights." That track can be streamed on Cruz Del Sur Music's bandcamp page, complete with lyrics. Void Moon's bass player Peter Svensson explains why "Hammer of Eden" was chosen as the opening track of the album: "It's the most direct and headbanging- friendly song on the album. An up-tempo song with a very heavy chorus to create the feeling of a massive hammer crushing the Earth."
On the Blackest of Nights will be released worldwide by Cruz Del Sur Music on the 2nd of November in Europe and 6th of November in USA. An official release party for On the Blackest of Nights will take place in Malta at V-Gen, Saint Julian, to coincide with the Malta Doom Metal Festival 2012.

Cyprus metal band Astronomikon, featuring Arrayan Path members Nicholas Leptos (vocals) and Paris Lambrou (bass), have signed a world wide deal with Pure Steel Records. The band will release its debut LP "Dark Gorgon Rising" with the label soon. In 2010, a three song demo of the same name was self-issued by the band.
For a taste of Astronomikon, head over to the band's Official website and hear the song "Rocka Rolla Sword" (plays automatically on the site's home page). The band's biography reads:
"Paris Lambrou (bass guitar) initiated Astronomikon with Nicholas Leptos (vocals), in 2008, in Nicosia, Cyprus. They have been bandmates for many years in Arrayan Path and Prodigal Earth, as they both share the same passion for heavy metal. Since long ago, people around the world have associated the heavens, the stars, and the patterns they make in the sky with their gods and heroes. Through the music of ASTRONOMIKON, find out about the myths and legends of different cultures around the world. The band is currently working with producer Evagelos Maranis, Sokratis Leptos (guitars, keyboards) and Stefan Dittrich (drums) on a concept album that is expected to be released in 2012. The story is the myth of Perseus, the first of the mythic heroes of Greek Mythology whose exploits in defeating various archaic monsters provided the founding myths in the cult of the Twelve Olympians. Perseus was the hero who killed Medusa, tamed Pegasus and claimed Andromeda, having rescued her from a sea monster."
Brazilian metal act Almah announced that it will release its new music video for the song "Days of the New" on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 3:00pm EST/15-00 CET. The song is the fourth video for the band's latest LP "Motion" and it will come via the band's official YouTube Channel.
The clip was recorded by Valter Reis and Gildasio Chagas from DV Produções, edited and produced by Alex Milesi, who was responsible for the previous two videos “Trace Of Trait” and “Late Night in ’85".
“Motion” was released in October 2011 via AFM Records (Europe, North America) and through Victor JVC in Japan. This CD defined the proper style of the band with heavier elements and aggressive parts. In May 2012, Edu Falaschi announced his departure from Angra to concentrate on Almah. In addition, Almah previously welcomed guitarist Gustavo Di Pádua into the band for the outgoing Paulo Schroeber. At the moment, the band is composing new stuff for the next studio effort.
