Dead Shape Figure has issued the following statement about recruiting a new bass player:
"Dead Shape Figure has found a new bass player... phhhh.... We actually didn't even search a new bass player we just called to our old friend Ere and asked if he has any interest of being a worthless piece of s.... a bass player in DSF and after the call maybe 2h later Ere was in our rehearsal room learning the new songs and jamming like a mofo. It's so much easier to deal with an old friend rather than bringing in a bunch of strangers into the auditions and first explain them how DSF rolls, then see if they can play anything and finally when the band thinks that this guy is the one they realize that he is actually a cunt when he drinks over 6 beers and starts to really annoy everyone and then at some point he will tell the band that how ridiculous is the fact that the band is paying their own plane tickets and not the label when they are leaving on tour and how his girlfriend thinks this and that and blaablaablaa...
"A little bit of over exaggerating maybe... But from an experience we thought that this is the best idea... And we have really missed Ernos scence of sarcasm in the rehearsal space. Oh, and for you who dont know: Erno played guitar in DSF during 2004-2008. Other news:
We have a studio booked for this year and we are almost ready with the pre-production... We are gonna unleash all the details about the new album next month." More...

We've been following this band since day one and we're looking forward to cooperate with such a self-confident and audacious band."

The Accused has issued the following statement about missing their October 23rd tour date:
"An October 23rd Port Angeles, WA concert by The Accused was cut-short and foiled Friday when extremely high winds over the waters of Puget Sound forced Washington State Ferries officials to shut-down ferry service to the area, which in turn prohibited one of the band members of the night's headliners The Accused from accessing that part of Washington State.
"Located about 2 hour's drive Northwest of Seattle, Port Angeles, WA is located in a remote, densely-forrested region of the Evergreen State known as the Olympic Penninsula. Access to the town is limited, with only two main roads leading in or out; from either old Highway 101 west of the rugged, snow-capped Olympic Mountain range, or via the scenic Peninsula State highway--the route which the stranded band member was preparing to take.
"Prohibiting this veteran Washingtonian access to the highway leading into Pt. Angeles, however was the impromptu cancelling of the 35 minute Pt. Townsend - Keystone ferry ride across the Puget Sound; an order placed by the ferry Captain merely minutes before the guitarist's arrival at the dock. With a useless pre-paid reservation ticket in his hand and no other practical way to access the town the distraught musician had to call and tell the rest of the band that he was stuck and couldn't get to the show. Futures End has issued the following statement to fans requesting their input on what they can do to convince people to buy music instead of illegally downloading:
"Greetings, music fans!
"We live in a world where, over the past 15 years, it has gotten even harder to create marketable music that supports itself. What I am referring to is not necessarily making a ton of money in the music business to support the artists desire for a Ferrari and beach front property in Monte Carlo, but in the way that will allow the artists to put together tours, record better quality albums, and bring the fans the merchandise that they want.
With the advent of the internet, quality recording software and hardware at far more reasonable prices than ever before in history, it has become much easier for the bands to make themselves known to the world, but it still takes the kind of money to deliver great records and to hit the road in support of them that - let's face it - most artists just don't have. We know from our own experience as fans and from talking to so many people, that so many of our favorite bands - especially in the prog/power genre of metal - don't ever seem to get to the United States if they are from Europe, or if they are from this side of the ocean, out West toward California to play. Swedish metallers Hostile Cell have issued the following recording update:
"Sorry for the lack of updates. As you all have heard me say before, we have a fantastic album in the works. I'm starting vocal tracking next week, which will be a real challenge =) This album recording has been super slow due to some circumstances that I can't get into at this moment. The most important thing is that we get this album, that we are really proud of, out there as soon as it's done. When the album is finished, we will make new announcements that will clear up the situation that has slowed us down. Stay heavy!"

Vocalist Peter Wiwczarek of Polish metallers Vader has issued the following road report:
"Welcome all Vadermaniax!!!!! Funeral Nation Tour 2009 in Europe has come to its end...Awesome time, that we have spent with our Friends from The Ordher, Fleshgod Apocalypse and veterans from Marduk is gone so incredible fast. As always-professional work of Massive Music, hard work of our Team and powerful shows left so many unforgotten memories in our hearts....and hunger for more! We can inform You already, that we'll continue this 'Blitzkrieg' with Marduk in January in South part of Europe-also in some countries, we couldn't play this year. More details are coming up soon! On the Tour we were trying to play songs from our last album 'Necropolis' mixed with some older, 'classical' Vader tunes. Of course, it was not possible to play as much as we wanted having just an hour to play (or even less sometimes...). In 2010 we're gonna configure live set , so all those Die Hard Vader Maniax should be enough satisfied as well. On 2nd November but we fly to US continent to tour again and we'll stay over there til mid of December. I'll keep trying -of course - to inform You all about progress of 'Monsters of Death' US Tour. See You in Hell !!!!!"

Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week, I am exploring the metal scene in Vancouver, Canada.
First, I give you one of the best live bands in Vancouver: Gross Misconduct. As huge fans of Chuck Shuldiner (R.I.P.), Gross Misconduct picks up where Death left off. The band also draws influences from Iron Maiden, Slayer and good old Metallica. The death/thrash-metal four-piece have opened up for big names such as The Haunted and Amon Amarth. Gross Misconduct maintains the high quality metal that epitomized Death. It is impressive how both Schuldiner and Gross Misconduct vocalist/guitarist David London can pull off singing while playing such technical metal. More...

Amoral has issued the following announcement about canceling their tour date in Cracow on October 27th:
"We are sorry to announce that we will not be playing in Cracow on tuesday the 27th. Yesterday our singer Ari slipped in a stairway and hurt his chest badly, among other places. Today, during our sound check in Prague, the pain got unbearable and he was taken to see a doctor. This was just an hour before our showtime, meaning he wouldn't be able to do tonight's show. Since we were already there, our gear all set up, we decided to play a short instrumental set without Ari. Tuomas from Before the Dawn stepped up and sang Pusher with us, which he learned just 30 minutes before the gig! A huge thank you to Tuomas for helping us out, and also to the amazing crowd, who were more than understanding and supportive of our situation. You guys rule! We can't wait to get back and play you a proper show.
"We've decided, given the doctor's advice, to let Ari rest for the next two days. Unfortunately this means that the Cracow gig is a no-go. We hate cancel ling shows more than anything, but this is absolutely nessessary to make sure he won't get worse and that we won't have to cancel the rest of the tour completely. We were really looking forward to the Cracow show, as we've never played in Poland before. We hope you understand and enjoy Before the Dawn's Amorphis' great gigs. If all goes well and Ari gets better fast, we'll be joining the tour again in Budapest on wednesday the 28th. We'll keep you posted."

Brisbane black metal band Astriaal has announced that their long awaited follow-up to "Renascent Misanthropy" has been completed and will be released in the coming months.
“After a period of perceived inactivity to those outside the circle, the horns of reprisal are resonating once again… the visceral incarnate has been awakened….
“2009 has marked Astriaal’s return the studio to document their long awaited follow-up to 2003’s ‘Renascent Misanthropy’ album. After tracking the as yet untitled new album at various studios throughout Australia, Astriaal journeyed to Molla Lydstudios [Ulver, Arcturus, Aura Noir, Mayhem etc] in Gjerstad, Norway in August to finalise the new album with Knut Magne Valle [Arcturus] behind the engineers desk. The mastering has now also been completed. Some six years since the release of the landmark ‘RM’ opus, this new darker chapter promises to be a unique variant to the now saturated dialect of black metal… Nauseatingly cold and haunting in extracts, yet extolled with Astriaal’s violent presence throughout… the return is drawing near…”
