Aussie death metallers Beyond Mortal Dreams have just released the new EP entitled "Dreaming Death." The new material follows the 2008 debut album "From Hell" and consists of 4 tracks –including a cover of Beherit's "Beast of Damnation." The main driving force behind Beyond Mortal Dreams, Doomsayer, comments:
“Dreaming Death is a result of our continuing desire to create solid, powerful, dark, and atmospheric style of death metal music. Like a beast manifested through sonic destruction! We felt we had achieved this on a certain level with ‘From Hell’ but of course, one can always look for ways to expand on previous efforts. With Dreaming Death, we incorporated lower tunings to help provide a much more guttural and crushing feel to the material, as well as a slightly more melodic touch without detracting from the overall brutality of the music.
"The material currently underway for the next album will also expand on this idea, creating a blend of savage, dark, and atmospheric moods. At this stage, BMD will continue to function as a studio band, but will never rule out the possibility of securing a live lineup in the future.”
The new tracks "Feast Of Carrion" and "The Filth Of Their God" can be heard in the player below. The "Dreaming Death" EP was originally released in Spring 2012 in a limited print run of 100 CD-R copies. More...

New York City progressive death metallers Open Denile have announced some major lineup shifts via their Facebook page.
Following the recent departure of rhythm guitarist Christian Andrè Cedeño, lead guitarist Craig Storer commented thusly: “We want to give a huge thanks for his contributions and time well spent in the band, and wish him good luck with his future endeavors and issues at hand.”
The band named one “Lil’” Rob DeSantis as Cedeño’s replacement on guitar. “This guy has the chops and riffs to add a new element to Open Denile,” Storer commented, “and we’re glad to have him aboard. The dude is nasty!”
Additionally, after extensive performing without a permanent bassist, the band has recruited the services of one Kareem “The Machine” Clarke. Remarked Storer: “Longtime friend and fill-in bassist for nearly four years is now finally a part of the Open Denile lineup! Kareem the Fucking Machine!”
DeSantis and Clarke both served in Queens, NY progressive death act Irony Of Chaos until its disbandment earlier this month.
Frontman/keyboardist Stephen Kain and drummer Bill Angelini remain alongside Storer as Open Denile mainstays. The band released debut full-length album “Visions Of The Next Dimension” (reviewed here) earlier this year.
Today, the good folks at Metal Injection offer up the exclusive video premiere of “Wolf On Anareta,” from psychedelic, Appalachian blues rock conjurors, USX (formerly U.S. Christmas). The production was directed by Paul Anderson with additional creative help/execution by USX violinist Meg Mulhearn and a virtual army of imaginative friends.
Partially shot in a restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina, the song comes off the band’s "Run Thick In The Night" full-length, released via Neurot Recordings in 2010. Check out the video clip through Metal Injection or in the player below.
Comments violinist/video producer Meg Mulhearn of the clip: “This video is the result of a lot of hard work by some very talented people. The plague doctor/Muppet fusion idea had been rattling around in my head for awhile in association with this song. Luckily my friends are complete badasses, as well as being extremely generous with their time. Eternal thanks to Paul Anderson, Jenny Webb, Bonnie Beckwith, Tony Plichta, Charlie Howes, Will Lyons, Neal Wilson, David Lynch and my very patient bandmates in USX. Additional thanks to Jim Henson, wherever you are.”
Adds guitarist/vocalist/wordsmith Nate Hall: “This was the first and only time we ever filmed anything professionally. All said, it was a good experience. We had control, we trusted Paul to do it right and he did. We got to torment people in an upscale restaurant with several hours of full-on sonic assault, pointy guitars, and general dirtbaggery. It has all the things I love about music videos: tons of guitars, amps, angry bass, drummers, creepy Muppets, leather pants, dark woods, and fake bloody Tony Plichta. Dig it. My life would be complete if we could just get Beavis and Butthead to make fun of our video.” More...
Norwegian band Trail of Tears has posted the following announcement online about canceling upcoming tour dates:
"It is with regret and a big portion of anger that we have to announce the cancellation of the shows in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 10th and 11th respectively.
"The reason for the cancellation is a breach of contract made by the Argentinian promoter Fiction Press, who failed to provide the agreed advances to cover flights and other costs. As a result it is impossible for the band to travel to Brazil only as it would involve a huge loss for everyone involved.
"We did a lot of work and put a lot of efforts into making these two shows as it has been our firm determination to come to play for our Latin brothers and sisters. Once again the Latin metal community, the greatest fans in the world, are suffering for what can only be described as equally terrible and useless promoters.
"Refunds should be directed to the source of purchase and once more we apologise for having to write this. We surely wish that we didn`t have to."
