"The Downward Spiral: Live at Webster Hall" DVD

Nine Inch Nails has issued the following update regarding the fan-produced DVD "The Downward Spiral: Live at Webster Hall."

"During the 2008 Lights In The Sky tour we began an open camera policy for stills and video during all NIN shows, inviting fans to capture the events with anything from a cell phone to a hi-def video camera. The results have been overwhelming, filling our own galleries with thousands of images and videos from every show, and inspiring a number of ambitious fansourced video projects within the NIN community. Some of those projects are starting to surface now, and we couldn't be happier with the way the fans have organized themselves and created some truly impressive work.

"On the recent Wave Goodbye tour, we were unable to professionally film the band's performance of The Downward Spiral at Webster Hall, due to exorbitant fees requested by the LiveNation venue. Our open camera policy, however, remained in tact, and as soon as the show ended fans took matters into their own hands, organizing online to track down everyone who had filmed HD footage of the show. Now, only two months later, the group has released a polished, edited, downloadable DVD of the full Downward Spiral performance from Webster Hall. The entire thing has been recorded, edited, and distributed entirely by fans, and it's the latest example of the amazing things fans will do when their creativity isn't limited by outdated, misguided restrictions.

"You can watch "The Downward Spiral: Live" in HD on this YouTube playlist. You can download it via torrent as a burnable DVD or an iPod/iPhone-friendly video from this page (click the question mark link on that page if you're new to downloading with torrents).

"We filmed all of the other final Wave Goodbye shows professionally, and you can expect to see that footage surface in some form or another in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate the efforts of The NIN Hotline, This One Is On Us, and everyone else who helped to immortalize the Webster Hall performance."

Here's the first video from the set to get a taste for the quality:

Derelict Cancels Upcoming Tour Dates

Canadian metallers Derelict have issued the following statement about canceling their previously announced tour dates on October 23rd and 24th:

"Friends! We are very sorry to announce that we cannot come out to play St-Thomas and Wingham this weekend as planned.

"Here's why: The promoter for the show in St-Thomas canceled on us at the last minute, today, the day before the show. Even though Yvonne, the promoter for Wingham, is super cool and would have made the best out of the situation for us, we just can't afford to drive a 16-hour round trip for just one show. Without getting into details, fueling a big van pulling a trailer is pretty expensive, so we need at least 2 shows to finance a trip with that many kilometers.

"We are SO SORRY to everyone who was coming to see us. Go to The Legion on Saturday anyway. There are still 5 great bands playing. Hopefully if you're from the area you'll be coming to see us at the Woodstock Holiday Funfest in December. Here's the event for that. We love you all!"

The Gathering Comments On 20th Anniversary

Dutch group The Gathering has issued the following statement about their 20th anniversary as a band:

"Hello all,

"And then, suddenly it is there! The 20th anniversary of The Gathering. Exactly 20 years ago my brother René and me, together with Bart Smits on vocals, started this band. No strategy, we just wanted to write songs so we could release a rehearsal tape. Lots of people in Oss were playing in bands, and they triggered us to do something for ourselves.

"Exactly 20 years ago we biked from our parents house in Oss to a little village called Heesch, were we rented a rehearsal room on a farm, and started writing our first song: 'Anthology in Black'. Great, exciting times. I can remember clearly it was freezing cold in that room in wintertime. I see Bart struggling to get the heater on with matches. Every Sunday morning we biked to that farm, most of the time with a big hangover because of a rough Saturday evening, and started early in the morning writing and playing songs. More...
