Minnesota's Of Salt And Swine has issued the following announcement about calling it quits:
"Well, its been quite a while since any of the members have checked this myspace page, and as I was checking it the other day, it dawned on me that there was never an actual reason as to why OSAS was no longer a band ever broadcasted over the internet. So i am writing this now to inform everybody that, if you havent already heard the news, Of Salt and Swine is no longer together. There is no bad blood between any of the members, and the reason we were forced to hang up our OSAS towels was really out of our control.
"Two of our members were forced to move out of state down to Iowa, which makes it really hard to keep a band on its feet. I considered trying to find two new members, but realized that after all I had been through with OSAS, it was time to give it up.
"With that being said, I wanted to thank every single person that helped this band do as well as it did. Thank you to everybody who came to a show, promoted us, bought a T-shirt or CD, talked to us on tour, let us crash on their floor, etc. There was many people from across the world who purchased our album, and for that, I am extremely grateful. As a big thank you to everybody who has listened to us, and helped us in any way, we are going to be putting up 2 songs on the myspace player that we played live, but never officially released. Make sure you take a listen! More...

American metal outfit All That Remains has entered the top ten of the Billboard album charts for the first time in their career. Their latest record, "For We Are Many" landed at the number ten spot after selling 29,247 in it's first week of release. The album also topped the Billboard Hard Music Albums chart.
"We're thrilled with All That Remains' debut sales and chart positions for this fantastic new album," said Jeremy Kramer, VP of Marketing at Razor & Tie. "In a market where sales are trending downward, ATR's first week numbers and overall sales have increased with every release, which is a testament to this phenomenal band as well as the team supporting them. There's no shortcut to success in artist development - this band has worked tirelessly over the years, creating a real and passionate fan base that continues to grow with every album."
DAWN OF ASHES has recently completed shooting the band's first music video off their album, "Genocide Chapters," which was released on September 14. Greathouse (special effects master, film director, and music video director behind Mushroomhead's videos). The video for Transformation Within Fictional Mutation was shot on October 19 on location at the Bissman Building in Mansfield, Ohio, which is widely rumored to be haunted.
A behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot can be seen on Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps website.

The band has posted still photos from the video shoot, which can be seen via the Asking Alexandria MySpace page. The group also kicked off a massive North American tour as direct support to All That Remains this past week, which runs through Nov. 14th.
Guitarist Ben Bruce has checked in from the tour with the following report: "From 6PM through until 6AM the following morning. One of the most grueling and punishing 12 hours of my life. The video shoot for 'A Prophecy' tested our physical and mental stability. We shot the video in the backroads of downtown LA. Rain machines, fire, cold weather and freezing water conditions in strangers pools were just some of the things we had to endure through out the video shoot. We were all very sick whilst shooting this due to the extreme conditions we were asked to perform in. Blisters on our feet, growling, empty stomachs and lots of make up and hairspray that spent less time where it was intended draining into our mouths due to the rain, but it was all worth going through. The video shoot was quite the experience, and we can't wait to show the world how it has come out. More...
Hull's "Viking Funeral" EP is currently streaming in its entirety via Decibel Magazine's recently relaunched website at this location. The unsung, 16-plus minute EP was initially self-released by the Brooklyn-based, three-guitar led sludge metal collective back in 2007. It comes hand numbered/crafted with artwork by Jorden Haley.
Commented the band on the recording: "Viking Funeral is a two-movement EP that focuses on the life of war and struggle of an antiquated culture...This EP will eventually be part of a full-length album that touches on life, death and afterlife in the Viking mythology."
Hull released the band's debut full-length, "Sole Lord," via The End Records in 2009. The band is currently working on the follow-up with co-producer Brett Romnes, who played drums on the "Viking Funeral" EP. Further details to be announced shortly.

British technical death metallers The Boy Will Drown are currently on the road in Europe and have completed the second leg of their headlining European tour. The band has checked in from the road with the following update:
"We've had an amazing time with ForgetToForgive and we all left as good friends! They're an amazing band and amazing people so we certainly recommend people check 'em out. Great shows were played and more awesome sights were seen. Waking up to the sunny view of the Swiss Alps is something none of us, I think, will ever forget. Makes all the problems we've experienced on tour seem insignificant.
"We also say bye to our good mate Ryan Mason; we got some awesome footage, photos and good times! Currently being edited so updates will be available and floating about soon. It was an absolute pleasure to have him onboard and we'll hopefully be seeing him on future tours soon for more of his 'Painting & Decorating' skills! After a few days rest at home, we're now on the final leg of the tour, this time with Eradication. A few changes have been made to the schedule." More...
Sweden's Descend has posted a new studio video online, which can be viewed below. The band also commented on the clip:
"Hey! Here's the last part of the time spent in Escaperoute studios: Enjoy! We're currently looking for gigs and so far there's one booked - our friends Preachs' release gig the 4th of December - and there will hopefully be more to come. Give us a heads up if you know of anything. Besides this we are also starting write some new material.. slowly.. but it's getting there. Well well... back to studies!"
Canada's 3 Inches of Blood has issued the following announcement about drummer Ash Pearson offering drum lessons in the Vancouver area:

Amalgama has posted a video online showing how the guitar solo was written for the song "Forsaken Soldiers," which is off the band's "Amtheyst" EP. The video can be viewed after the jump. Amalgama also commented on the solo writing process:
"Amalgama lead-guitarist Ray Hill is a tenacious character. When he records or rehearses a new song or lead line he wants to make sure it is absolutely perfect. So when we sat down to record the solos for the latest Amalgama EP Amethyst in North Albany Studios we knew we were in for an interesting time. Ray is always chasing the best possible performance he can get out of himself. Yes, sometimes it can be frustrating watching him run a solo through over and over again looking for that bit of inspiration that will lead to the next section of a truly epic guitar solo, but the final product speaks for itself. Thankfully we had producer John Spomer on hand as taskmaster to keep everything on track for completion.
"You may be wondering why we are all yelling in the video. Well, each of us had a pair of headphones on that were cranked to max volume (protect your hearing, kids!) so our natural reaction was to yell despite the fact that we were in a relatively quiet room. Thankfully, this stupidity was captured on film. So, with that said, enjoy An Anatomy of a Guitar Solo with your favorite lead guitarist, Ray Hill." More...
Arsenic Addiction has posted a track-by-track breakdown of the band's album "An Undertaker's Lament" through Infernal Masquerade. The breakdown can also be read below.
Track 1: Invocation. Definition: An incantation used in conjuring or summoning a devil. We wanted to write invocation for several reasons, but most of all to set a mood or tone for not only the album but our live shows as well. We realized that many bands will kick off their album with a sound clip of some sort, or a well known instrumental piece. It definitely sets a certain mood, but we wanted to create our own atmosphere and something entirely unique to Arsenic Addiction. With a few songs already written for “An Undertaker’s Lament”, the mood for the overall album was already determined, with that mood in mind we decided the song should sound like an opening sermon or summoning if you will. So was born Invocation.
Track 2: Lady Death. Lady Death was actually the first song written for the album, and the first song we incorporated keyboards back into the band. This song definitely set the tone for the entire album, and trickled its way into all the other songs written after it. We view this song as a turning point in our musical careers, and the defining sound of what Arsenic Addiction is to become. The song is meant to be full of bitterness, a dreary disposition, and a haunting melody. This song is loosely based on Countess Bathory, and written from her perspective but goes much further into this kind of dark matter then a history lesson.
Track 3: Narcissus. This song is an older Arsenic Addiction song that we felt never go its due. The song was written to immortalize the selfishness of one individual, and was written for no other reason then to get that point across. The strings are meant to be up-paced, thrash influenced, with your classic heavy metal riffs. The lyrics are meant to be delivered with spite and venom, and the drums aggressive driving the song and binding all the elements together. Narcissus is meant to be an in your face, heavy hitter, and nothing more.More...

Norway's Emancer has checked in with the following report of the band's European tour with Belphegor and Vreid:
"We're back from 16 days on the road with Belphegor and Vreid, and what a great experience it has been! This was our first tour and getting out to metal fans all over Europe was just amazing. Some places were more lively than others for sure, especially Sofia, Erfurt, Bratislava and generally all the gigs in Spain will bring good memories. And it was great to end the tour at the Metal Invasion Festival in Passau!
"Sadly there were some problems during the tour that lead to a few shows being canceled. We can only say that we're sorry about this, but it was completely out of the hands of the bands. The last thing we want when we're on tour is to cancel gigs, but sometimes we can't do anything about it. Let's hope that we'll have another chance to play in places like Krakow and Marseille at a later time!
"Special thanks goes to the crew guys and sound technician Helge who did an amazing job, and of course to all the guys in Vreid and Belphegor for a great time on the road! If you have any photos or videos from the tour, please don't hesitate to contact us. Meanwhile, external photo galleries are being posted on our website."

The band commented on the recording process by saying:
"Busy day indeed. The drum kit was set-up already yesterday, so today we miced it up, and the old pool area sounded really cool. We got a really good sound going almost immediately. I exported all the demo tracks so we could mount it onto the click tracks for Per. (No this time we won't record live - surprise! ;). We did two drum takes all in all, but tomorrow will tell if we were up to something fruitful or not. Brain is melting - Need sleep / ZZZ
"We got off to an early start today, and after listening to yesterdays tracks we were very happy with the sound and the takes. Per was in the zone today, and we got 5 tracks down on tape (well, not really tape, but you get the drift ;). So far everthing is working excellent and we have a good vibe going. Peter will come down on Thursday, and hopefully he will help me out with these updates, I need to save my fingers for riffing. :) Thanks everybody for checking in, and cya tomorrow!"
