On October 20th, U.K. act Monuments will sell the previously unreleased track "Memoirs" as a special single to raise money for the treatment of a close friend of the band who has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer.
Century media comments, "Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (or PMP) is a cancer of the appendix and is so rare that it can only be treated by a small number of specialists, none of whom are in the UK. Treatment must be sought internationally, and the costs are likely to exceed tens of thousands of pounds."
Monuments' Adam Swan (bass) explains: "Hi everyone! We will be releasing 'Memoirs' via Bandcamp as of October 20th. All proceeds will be going to our good friend Laura, who recently found out she has a condition called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (or PMP), a rare form of cancer of the appendix that affects less than one in a million people. We will be releasing 'Memoirs' to raise money for her as there are very few people in the world who are able to treat this condition and none are in the UK due to its rarity. She will have to travel abroad for the treatment and it will be extremely expensive. There will be a minimum donation of £2 for the track, however it'll be possible to give as much as you want, so please give generously. We would like to give a big shout out to Neema Askari, Joe Garret, John Sprich, James Monteith, Mel Schmidt, Steve Joh and everyone at Century Media for making this possible so quickly. Thank you."
Check out the "Memoirs" trailer below. The band would also like to raise awareness about this condition as it is often misdiagnosed due to its extreme rarity. For further information about PMP, head over to this location. More...

The organisers of the Maryland Deathfest have announced that, due to a surprisingly strong demand for Thursday tickets, many of which were sold to people specifically citing the British band, Bolt Thrower as the main reason, they are attempting to book a second slot for the band over the weekend. A message from the organizers reads as follows:
"Due to the overwhelming demand for Thursday tickets, specifically to see Bolt Thrower, we have contacted the band who are now looking into the possibility of playing a second set at MDF between Friday-Sunday. If a second set happens, we'll let you know very soon, but do keep in mind that it would also be an inside show. The band prefers to play inside, which is why we scheduled them to headline Thursday to begin with. Nobody, including ourselves or Bolt Thrower, expected tickets for Thursday to sell out (in only three days), so we are doing what we can for those of you who missed out on a ticket, and those that have four-day passes will have an opportunity to see them twice."
The festival will take place from May 23rd to 26th in Baltimore, Maryland and will feature the following lineup: More...

Canadian act Disciples of Power has posted the following announcement online about regrouping:
"Disciples of Power has officially reformed. Unfortunately, Hart Bachmier will not be joining us. We respect his decision and reasoning and continue on with his blessing. Hart will always be our metal brother and good friend. We wish him the best. In Dust we Trust bassist Andy Smith will also not be joining us, Cheers brother.
"2013 will see the return of Canadian metal legends Disciples of Power. The band split up in 2002 after a 15 year history that had seen the band release 5 full length albums and perform numerous shows form 1988 to 2002. We respect the music, history and what it means to many of our fans. We are dedicated to bringing you the power, energy, dynamics and mind warp that is synonymous with Disciples of Power.
"The new line-up consists of alumni members... Wes Sontag: guitar, and Dean Relf: drums, and new members... Shane Hawco: vocals (who was a part of Section VIII with Wes and Dean and sang numerous shows for DOP back in 1995 - 97 before going on to join Thorazine, Exit Strategy and WAKE) and Ben Harbak: guitar (currently from The Noumenon and formerly of Acantha and Begrime Exemious - he has been a huge DOP fan for may years and the music has helped shape him into the guitarist he is today). We are currently auditioning like minded individuals to fill the bass position.
"We dedicate future shows to our fans, the music, and everyone who believed in this band from day one. We will see you all in 2013! Cheers!"

Nuclear Blast Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Holy Grail:
"Hailing from Pasadena in Southern California, North American up-and-comers Holy Grail have offered a unique blend of traditional tunes in the vein of the legendary NWoBHM and influences of several contemporary heavy metal subgenres since their inception in 2008. Now, after numerous celebrated festival appearances (Wacken:Open:Air & British Download Festival among others) and extensive touring together with famous bands of the order of Blind Guardian, Exodus, and Eluveitie, the time is right to take this more than promising quintet to the next level. In that regard, Nuclear Blast Records are proud to announce the Europe-wide signing of Holy Grail!"
Nuclear Blast A&R Jaap Wagemaker comments: “Already after we’d listened to their debut EP 'Improper Burial,' it became pretty obvious that Holy Grail - offering a modern version of the old-school heavy metal we’ve grown up with - were the most exciting metal band to emerge from the county of L.A. within the last two decades, as renowned American Decibel magazine had put it. After Metal Hammer UK had nominated the band as 'best new band' at the Metal Hammer Awards even before they had even released their debut album 'Crisis in Utopia,' we knew we had to keep an eye on them. All over Europe, music magazines loved that record and celebrated it by publishing rave reviews. And ever since we’ve seen them playing two awesome shows at Wacken:Open:Air and British Download Festival, there was no doubt whatsoever that Holy Grail were bringing the leather and steel to a new generation of metal heads. So watch out for Holy Grail’s second coming in 2013!!!” More...

Italian symphonic metal act Luca Turilli's Rhapsody posted up a new music video for the song "Clash of the Titans." The special "Walking Dead Remix" version was directed, edited and filed by Owe Lingvall (who also prepared the band's first video for "Dark Fate of Atlantis") with animations by Magnus Jonsson.
The band is set to embark on the first leg of the "Cinematic World Tour" with Freedom Call, Ordan Ogen and Vexillum (see tour dates here), though guitarist Dominique Leurquin is sidelined due to an injury to his hand. The band is supporting the latest LP "Ascending To Infinity" (see Metal Underground.com's review at this location).

French power/progressive metal act Asylum Pyre is streaming the new track "These Trees." Recently, the band signed with Massacre Records for the release of its sophomore LP "Fifty Years Later," which is scheduled to drop on December 7, 2012 (pushed back from November 23rd). The album was recorded and mixed by Didier Chesneau and mastered by Elektra Mastering.

This week a mixed bag of unplugged, budget indie videos, old school glam, and an interesting wardrobe decision.
Former Motley Crue and The Scream vocalist John Corabi has released a video for the song "If I Had A Dime." The song will be featured on Corabi's upcoming "Unplugged" CD, scheduled for release in November in the UK and sometime around February 2013 in the USA.
We begin with a concert promo poster showing Corabi opening for Cinderella. The camera then pans through road crew, fans, and others that have many tattoos, bandanas, or are holding acoustic guitars (in some cases – all of the above). Most of the video is just a recorded live performance mixed with “tour bus” video. My favorite is the shot on the highway which shows two exits, one for Detroit and one for Flint, Michigan. Tough choice, do you want to get shot in the face or stabbed in your back?
