Australia’s Double Dragon have recently completed their supporting tour with Slayer and Megadeth. The band supported the metal titans in all states of Australia.
Vocalist Lee Gardiner comments: “Wow, what a crazy week, supporting 50% of the big four of Thrash metal was a dream come true to say the least. From the first show in Brisbane, to the final show in Perth on Tuesday, we had a glimpse of the machines that are Megadeth and Slayer, and what machines they are! Playing before Megadeth and Slayer was a task in its self, I know myself that if I had bought tickets I would be excited enough to unleash hell on the unsuspecting support bands, but we had fantastic reactions and support from the crowds in every city, and I would really like to thank the Australian metal public for showing their respects and heading down to the fence to bang out for us.
“The whole tour was filled with so any life long memories, watching Slayer thrash out new tracks on sound checks, Megadeth’s complete and utter professionalism and flawless performances, singing 'Hate World Wide' with Slayer in Melbourne when Tom’s voice went, watching my friend Paul Haug (Contrive) sing Dead Skin Mask perfectly in Melbourne – even throwing in the ..'the next song is about a man called Ed…' too the crowds adoration, to meeting Dave Mustaine and seeing how he goes out of his way for his fans in every city with their meet and greets etc, the whole thing personally was a celebration of metal and its supporters, and on behalf of Double Dragon we cant thank Megadeth, Slayer and the promoters enough for the experience of a lifetime.”
Following the release of their debut album, "Devastator," in Australia, the band is now hard at work recording their second album before they had out on the road again with Chimaira in 2010 for an Australian tour.
On the new material Lee states “We have definitely changed alot in our five years, even since our release of our debut album , and this time around we are really just wanting to write the best metal we can – we are not going to say its heavier than DEVASTATOR and all the usual pre-album cliché’s, but it will be more mature and more musical, obviously because we all get better at our instruments the longer we play! We also are seeking a home for our material outside of Australia, as we are now yearning to play some shows in Europe, USA and Japan, so if your that guy/girl lets talk, we are ready and waiting”
With the band currently unsigned, Double Dragon will be spending the next 6 months recording and seeking a suitable home for their new album, which promises to be “More metal than a robot’s cock, Aussie style!”
Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon has issued the following statement about writing new material for a solo album:
"Good evening dear ones
"I am at my hotel room in Stockholm after a day full of creating songs in the studio together with Stefan and Johan. Its been really nice and also fun to sit down and making songs together. We have one song that is ready to record some vocals on tomorrow and then 2 more ideas that we will work more with. Now I just need to write some more lyrics to them, in my own private space.
"This will be so great and its so nice to have such great songwriters and musicians to help me with the songs. We work that way that we sit down by the piano and the guitar and just try melodies etc and then I write down lyrics and we try and test the structure of the song. Then Johan goes and puts drums, bass etc in the computer to get the music recorded for me to test-sing it. Then we work from there. It's so nice to create songs like this, I haven't done that since we started Alyson Avenue, so its been a while but I´ll soon get a hang of it again;=) And I really like the sound of it already!"

Throne of Malediction has issued the following announcement about releasing a new album next year and providing a song for an "anti-Christmas" album:
"An internet release of some nice anti-Christmas music for dark minded people from Misantrof AntiRecords will be released later this year...And of course, we were asked to add a song:) Seems they like our Thronestyle:) It is an extra honor, as Misantrof is affiliated with Carpathian Forest and the Noweigian/European scene... Seems we may continue to work with them too. As we like their ideas and approach to how they do business. So we may have some help with our upcoming release (due out by March 2010) It is an extra honor for us, as they usually deal with Euro bands, but seem to like us and our style. Maybe our Carpathian Forest cover helped?... Anyways, stay tuned for more good news :) Go to this link to check out last years project and Misantrof..."
Canada's Will of the Ancients has issued the following recording update:
"Hello boils and ghouls!
"Halloween is around the corner, and the WotA camp is getting all excited! We're not sure why, because we're not really doing anything. BUT, recording is coming along really well, we have almost half the rhythm guitars tracked so far. We've also worked on some ideas for keyboards and things too. It's all sounding really good so far!! Thunderous, crushing epicness!
"So that's going well. We're aiming to have at least the rhythm guitars complete by the end of November and then we can begin tracking the drums, bass, vocals, and leads. We're doing it slightly different than is the convention but that's ok, it seems to be working for us, and we're quite happy with the results so far. I know I said I'd post studio footage, but unfortunately, my digital camera decided to not work at all, so I couldn't go that route. I'll work on that though, and hopefully get some footage up soon. Apologies to those who desperately wanted to see us being jackasses!
"In other news, there is a chance we might be coming out of our caves for a couple of shows around late November/early December around the GTA. More news on that as it becomes available. Aside from that, we don't have any live shows planned, because we want to focus on the recording and make it the best that it can be. We'll be back on the stage when the album's done, and yes, we may even play 'Bard's Tale'!
"Also, today (Sunday 18th Oct) is our drummer Dave's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!!!! Alright, that's all for now. Until next time!"

"On July 7th of this year we were honored to perform at Arenes de Nimes, the historic Roman amphitheatre in Nimes, France, easily one of the most spectacular venues in the world. We thought it would be a memorable night, so we asked our friends in France to bring along a film crew to document the festivities. The result is Francais Pour Une Nuit (translation: French For One Night), the DVD of the evening including the full show, interviews with us, and five videos shot by YOU, our buddies in the audience. All this and more will be available starting November 23rd, 2009!
"Francais Pour Une Nuit was extra special for us because not only was it filmed in France, but ALL aspects of the project are French as the show was filmed, recorded, and edited with French camera and recording crews, the artwork on the package and special box set (more on that in a minute!) were created by a French design team; even the credits are in French. The only non-French parts: the three Americans and one Dane on stage and the photos shot by Englishman Ross Halfin.
"The DVD will be available in retail stores in France only, at metallica.com, or you may order online through the record company at metallicanimes.com. There will be three formats available: Standard DVD in a digipack including a 16 page booklet, Blu-Ray DVD, also in a digipack with the booklet, and the deluxe limited edition box set (it's actually a tin) that includes the DVD, a copy of Death Magnetic on CD, a T-shirt, laminated pass, and five exclusive photos.
"And just in case you couldn't join us that night, here is the set list." More...

American thrash metal outfit Hatchet has announced that they have parted ways with their vocalist, who is known only as Eric, after only a few months with the band. A message from Hatchet reads as follows:
"We are safe and sound now back home in the San Francisco Bay area. After a six week full US tour that spanned the entire country, we returned home to an eager, vigourous crowd on October 16th at 924 Gilman with tour mates Havok, as well as Witchaven and Warbringer. Definitely one of the most energetic shows of the tour and in the bay that we have played, and it was a nice welcome home. We met a lot of cool and interesting people along the way as well as fans that have been waiting patiently to see us in parts of the country we had not been to. We want to extend a big thank you to all who came to see us, bought merch, or take us in for the night and gave us a place to party and sleep. You all know who you are!!
"As most have noticed by now Hatchet returned to the Bay Area a four-piece. The exact details of the events leading to this will remain brief, as we do not believe in airing dirty laundry on a public board. Basically, we had vast musical and personal differences with our new vocalist from the start, and from the first show we played, it just did not click right. These problems only escalated throughout the tour until one night in Buffalo NY, where he decided to hit the stage beyond reasonably drunk, and embarrassed us beyond belief to a packed house, leaving five people in the club to watch Havok after our set. Afterwards he quit and flew home that same night, leaving us across the country without a vocalist. More...
