Finnish melodic death metallers Insomnium return to North America in October for a tour with Epica, Alestorm, and System Divide. In anticipation of this trek, the band is partnering with AOL Noisecreep to premiere a video for the title track off latest album, "One For Sorrow" (reviewed here).
Watch the video - a live recording from the Wacken Open Air and Tuska Open Air festivals - through Noisecreep or in the player below.
Vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen comments: "'One for Sorrow' is one of the best songs Insomnium has ever done. It stands out as a unique kind of track and it clearly deserves a video of its own. It's not your typical melodic death metal song but something else: the essence of the song is not its pace or brutality, but its haunting and melancholic atmosphere. And that mood might be much heavier than any blast-beat onslaught you can create...
"The video for 'One for Sorrow' was filmed at Wacken Open Air and Tuska Open Air this summer. The atmosphere at both these shows was absolutely amazing, and I hope this live video conveys the feeling that we were really enjoying our time on stage...After a busy summer and a short break, it now feels good to get touring again. We've been waiting for five years since our last North American tour and finally we have the chance to keep conquering America. We'll be all around the continent, and it will surely be a great tour for everyone. See you soon!" More...

The video was shot for the title track from Okkultokrati's "Snakereigns" album, set for North American release on Samhain 2012 via Oslo-based Fysisk Format label. The following press released was issued about the band:
"Building their anthems on straightforward punk beats with the filth of unholy black n’ roll running through their veins, Okkultokrati proudly let their influences from the masters of the genre bleed through, yet their spine-crushing anthems speak for themselves. With unique guitar atmospheres and a mix of high/low-end riffage busting through the thunderous percussion and gnarled vocals, Okkultokrati are part of the infamous Black Hole Crew scene, their local nihilistic brethren in Obliteration, Haust, Dark Times and a handful of other local henchmen, remain their only comrades. Snakereigns follows-up the band’s No Light For Mass debut, released amidst a handful of EPs, demos and split releases." More...

Shadow Kingdom Records is now offering the newly reissued "Judgement of the Dead" from cult NWOBHM doom band Pagan Altar. Originally released in 1982, Shadow Kingdom Records will stock North American shelves with this classic on January 8, 2013. Until then, fans can order the release exclusively through Shadow Kingdom Records.
For a digital copy and free stream of the album, visit the label's bandcamp page. Physical copies are available at the Shadow Kingdom Records Webstore. Shadow Kingdom's Tim McGrogan had this to say about the album:
Back in 1982 Pagan Altar released this NWOBHM masterpiece and almost immediately this album went into obscurity. They have been by far the most over looked band in the history of heavy metal music. It's amazing that they've finally pulled it all together for being virtually non-existent for nearly 15 years. They deserve all of the success and recognition they're getting today and much, much more!
In the late 90's they came out of the woodwork and put this out on their own label and it was mistakenly called "Volume 1". The extra track was an acoustic track which was just called "Acoustics" at the time. This is the first time this album will be released in all its glory, with the correct title "Judgement of the Dead" and updated acoustic song title as well. Also, this is the original artwork that was released back in 1982 which has never been seen before until now!
We've re-mastered the CD to sonically preserve its antique feel. It comes with a very nice booklet that includes a story and old band photos. If there ever was such a thing as a perfect album, this would be it! There is nothing more satisfying than the sound of this record. If you've never heard of this band or album, think of Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull and you're almost there. They take music to a whole new level.
1. Pagan Altar
2. In The Wake Of Armadeus
3. Judgement Of The Dead
4. The Black Mass
5. Night Rider
6. The Dance Of The Banshee
In other news, Pagan Altar has recently been confirmed for Maryland Death Fest XI, which will take place May 23rd - 26th, 2013 in Baltimore, MD. For for information and updates visit the Maryland Death Fest XI website.
