Norwegian doom metallers Syrach have issued the following road report:
"...and now the end is here, and so we faced the final curtain... (for now, that is!)
"The Pentagram / Trouble tour is now over, and I must admit that we had a blast! Every night was superb in it's own unique way. The organizers, venues, Trouble, Pentagram, the Crew and most important THE AUDIENCE was fantastic all through the tour. We made a great deal of new friends and also got the time to meet some old ones again, that we hadn't seen for years (yes Will, you!) and hopefully made us a couple of new fans. It seemed that most people liked our stuff, even though we were bit on the side from the other bands. We will post some pictures from the tour in our picture section over the next few weeks, but right now things are a bit hectic, and we need to focus on some personal stuff and to find our Italian guitarist a place to stay and some work. because we really want him to stay. you who got the fortune to see him live, may understand ;-) We will be back soon and hope to do some more european shows soon, because touring is after all, the best thing about being in a band.
"Our regards goes out to the people we met. all the guys from Trouble! Shane and Corey: you looked great in your new shirts ;-) Pentagram ( thanx for lending me your OD-1 Russ, and no Mark, you will never beat the Italian Stallion in Basket...) The Crew (Robo, Joey, Mr.Burns), Tour Manager and merch bunny Lotje
"We salute you all!"
Greek black metal band Naer Mataron has issued the following statement about canceling their Bolivian tour date:
"Bolivian Show canceled. Unfortunately Naer Mataron could not make it in time to Bolivia for the scheduled show due to extended problems at the borders in Piuno, Peru. All the roads leading to the border were closed in some kind of protest, making it impossible for anyone to cross to Bolivia. It is important to notice that the band is not responsible at all for this incident and struggled to arrive at the venue even at the last moment, after 50 hours of travelling. Naer Mataron greet in the sign of the horns the black metal warriors of Bolivia and wish to return for another show."
Given that Blue Cheer frontman Dickie Peterson sadly passed away last Monday, it seemed only fitting that this week's edition of Sunday Old School take a look at the band. Blue Cheer began in 1966 and took their name from a brand of LSD which was promoted by former Grateful Dead frontman, Owsley Stanley. The band was managed by a former Hell's Angel. Blue Cheer scored a hit single with their cover of the Eddie Cochran classic, "Summertime Blues," which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard singles chart. The debut album, "Vincebus Eruptus" from which the song was from, also entered the Billboard album charts at number 11.
Over the years the band split up and reformed several times, but left a lasting influence on rock and metal music and have been cited by many as one of the inspirations behind punk rock, stoner rock, doom metal and grunge. You can check out some videos below of Blue Cheer, the band that was described by The Doors frontman Jim Morrison as "The single most powerful band I've ever seen."

"Some news, Michel, Henke & Jerome are out of Massive Assault, all of them had serious shortcoming investing time at the end. Michel, Henke & Jerome decided by theirself to quit, also because their situation will not change for Massive Assault in respectable period of time. We wish Michel, Jerome and Henke all the luck in this world and respect their decision.
"Now the good news: We are very happy to tell you that we have already a new drummer. His name is Gideon who also handles the drums for Hammer of Justice. Our new drummer already played drums in Massive Assault in the past, with both Fredde and Jos. So we are familiar with this freak.
"We had a bassist on audition last week, and we have good hope that he can handle the tunes the alcohol the groove and our ridiculous sense of humor. More about that later.
