Producer Mat Sinner checked in from the recording sessions of the highly anticipated album featuring vocalist Michael Kiske and American singer Amanda Somerville (Avantasia). "We finished the songwriting for 12 original new songs – no covers .... and a week ago, we’ve started the final recordings! Everything looks cool and the song material is amazing!"
Most of the songs are written by Mat Sinner together with Magnus Karlsson (co-producer & guitarist). More songwriting contributions come from former "After Forever" guitarist Sander Gommans, Amanda Somerville (Arise, A Thousand Suns, Set Afire) and two outstanding symphonic songs written by Mat Sinner with keyboard maestro Jimmy Kresic (End Of The Road, Devil In Her Heart). Some more song titles can be revealed for the moment: "Silence, Don't Walk Away," "Rain," "Nothing Left To Say," "If I Had A Wish," "One Night Burning" and "Second Chance."
"We’re recording in two studios at the moment" says Mat. "Magnus is recording guitars at his own Stuntguitar Studios in Sweden and I’m working at the Audiospezialist Studio in Germany with drummer Martin Schmidt (ex-Atrocity, RMC Band) and keyboarder Jimmy Kresic (Voodoo Circle). After the Primal Fear European Tour, we will start with the vocal and choir recordings and I’m really looking forward to be a part of this progress. This album is a big challenge and it sounds already like something really special for me, in a time when we face a so many releases every month. Sander Gommans will join the team and will add some lead guitars and we’re talking to two more prominent musicians for a guest appearance."
Achim Koehler (Primal Fear, Edguy) was chosen to mix and master the album at Indiscreet Studios for a spring release on Frontiers Records.

Guitarist Mircea Eftemie states: "We’ve currently nailed five songs out of 15 and we are continuing to nail one song per day, so on later this week the album will be completed – good times. Some extra song titles for you gays’n'gals: 'Elongated Sporadic Bursts', 'Hero(in)', 'Within'… and as you can see from the pictures we are having lots of fun here at the Antfarm Studios – we did also nail a bunch of alcohol with these songs.
"What can I say, the material is really diverse, the most diverse we have ever made, and I know it sounds cliche to say that, but it really is. We have different inspiration sources nowadays, we are of course still a metal band, but we actually listen to a lot more than just metal. That aspect has contributed to the eclectic and diverse material of this new album.
"One more thing that is totally cliche to say; its going to be the best album of 2010 and its going to be the best production Tue Madsen has ever made…. oh yeah!."

Finland's Evemaster has checked in with the following album update:
"Dan (Swanö that is) has been working on the mix of 2 songs for a week or so and finally today we've come to conclusion that everything sounds fucken awesome. So, now Dan knows which way to go with the rest of the tracks and I think that the album mix and master will be ready towards the end of this week.
"First 2 songs Dan has been working on are 'Enter' and 'New Age Dawns.' Dan added his vocals on 'New Age Dawns' and I must say that he sounds brilliant and I feel so frigging honoured to have him perform on a song composed by myself. Can't wait for the album closer 'Absolution' to feature his vocals.
"The hunt for a record label will start soon. I have such strong faith on this album that I don't think finding a good label to work with should be too big a problem. We'll live and see.
"Another update coming when the album is done. I'll probably make some video teaser as well when all is sorted out."

Sweden's Infernal has issued the following update about recruiting a new drummer:
"Finally, after a longer search for drummers, and going through several applicants, we have now found the guy to do the job for the next couple of tracks. Whether this is a session job only, or long time thing, is up for time to tell.
"The guy in question is Carl from the Norwegian bands RECOVERY INJECTION and ASTAROTH, and we believe that he can do the job as good as our previous drummer. We'll start working for real with him and the new songs in about a month.
"In the meantime, here's a very, very rough version of the whole track of 'Killing Christ', that was earlier posted as a 45- second snippet at this location. However, it is both untight and not fully professionally performed, but this is what is the cool thing with the net, you can post stuff, that might not be up to album standards, that you never ever would hear unless of the Internet. However, of course, This track will be recorded 100% professionally for both the next demo, and the full length album coming in 2010."
Cradle Of Filth front man Dani Filth has issued the following band update:
"Greetings to all you merchants of menace and skinny villainesses, Dani here again with a belated update on all things fantastic and filthy;
"At the time of writing, September is almost through, with skies fire-paved and a gorgeous Indian Summer settling like a phoenix on the East coast of England, the last few weeks finding me extremely busy with the trivialities of being at home and working in a band at the same time. Thus creativity has flourished under this wonderful boon and the first ideas for a new Cradle album have started to creep and crawl in the far-flung shadows of our combined imaginations. Bearing in mind we have merely the skeletal structures of a few songs laid out, that Autumnal vibe is already spreading like a mist, and the tunes are sounding very malefic indeed. Very much like the 'Godspeed...' album thrust up a gear.
"Paul has moved to a luxury apartment on the dockside quay in Ipswich, the apocalyptic vision of a reddened sun split by the thin silhouettes of bobbing yacht masts, highly inspirational, tempering his writing with furious abandonment. In the meantime Martin is hard at work on his practice kit back in the Czech Republic, providing the midi backbone to Paul's initial structures, which are then later embellished by guitars and keyboards. Luckily Dave lives in spitting distance of Paul's new gaff, so he's in partnership with the basic skeleton of every track, which is then flown past Ashley (who has just moved this week from Phoenix to LA...), who then goes all symphonic on it's rugged ass. Things therefore are moving well towards our new, as-yet-untitled album, with a possible studio start date of early January to be ringed in all gothic diaries. Bring it on! More...
California death metallers Reciprocal have issued the following statement about self-releasing their new album:

"We are going be putting our Self-Titled Debut album out independently on Nov 19th! It will be available worldwide on all major digital distributors (I-tunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, ect...) Hard copies will be available via our official website and will also be available in stores in the near future.
"The same day as the albums release we will be playing at the world famous Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood CA, where you can purchase the album for the first time. Other bands on the bill include Vehemence, Abysmal Dawn, Enthraller and more. This is a landmark date for Reciprocal and we hope to see all our freinds and fans at the show to celebrate with us. Two new songs, 'Hopeless' and 'Wrath,' are streaming here on our MySpace page."

"The production of the second album is in full swing. As has happened before, the band has too many songs and no filler that could easily be discarded. And that's a good thing. Revolution Renaissance, who recently signed a three-album deal with Napalm Records, has announced that they've parted with the bass player Justin Biggs and the keyboard player Michael Khalilov. The band states:
"During the recordings of 'Age of Aquarius' it became evident to everybody that Revolution Renaissance was not the right band for the guys. Justin is more of a trash guy and Mike expected the music to be something totally different.
"Out of these reasons the decision has been made that it is better to go seprate ways. Both are great guys and the remaining members Timo Tolkki, Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra wish them well and best of luck on their musical endeavours. Check out the new album of Mike's band Empyreon from iTunes and Justin's band Descend."
The remaining members have been writing songs for many months now and you can expect the follow up to "Age of Aquarius" sometime next year.
