Suffocation fan Philip Kaplan posted a video on YouTube of himself playing along on the drums to the track "Infecting the Crypts." The video was subsequently removed due to copyright issues, which led to Kaplan contacting the band's management and label and eventually meeting Suffocation. The video (which has since been posted back on YouTube) can be viewed below. Excerpts of Kaplan's blog about the experience follow:
You may have read about my YouTube drama. Short version: I made a video for a song by the death-metal band Suffocation and uploaded it to YouTube. The video received over 3,000,000 views until YouTube removed it, via Warner Music complaint, for copyright infringement. I’m happy to report that not only has the issue been resolved and the video is back on YouTube, but one of the more awesome experiences of my life occurred because of it.
Background: After YouTube removed the video, I got in touch with the band’s management: Extreme Music Group. Their manager told me that they approve of the video and want it back online. I also reached out to Roadrunner Records (label), Warner Music (distribution) and YouTube — they were all surprisingly nice and cooperative.
But the coolest thing happened a couple of weeks ago. Suffocation was on tour and playing a show here in San Francisco. A drumming magazine, Sick Drummer, heard about my YouTube story and contacted me. Somehow they hooked up a free ticket and backstage pass for me at the concert.More...
Kalmah has finished recording their sixth studio album, which will be released in the early 2010. A release date has not been set. The recording process started in May, continued in June and finally ended in August. All recordings and mixing was done at Tico-Tico studios. Mastering was done at Cutting Room. The album is still untitled. The new album will include nine new songs and one cover.
The band comments: "Recordings as usual for Kalmah went pretty smoothly. We had everything pretty much ready before the studio and it was easy to just concentrate on the sound and perfection of the performance. The sound, well, of course the sound is great. We managed to dig out more depression and agression overall.
"From now own we are concentrating on the cover art, booklet and stuff. We have some upcoming shows at Russia in the beginning of November and we are planning for Finnish shows at the beginning of 2010."

Finland's Amoral has issued the following statement about fans questioning vocalist Ari Koivunen's Burzum shirt at a German show:
"After yesterday's sold out show in Hannover, Germany, we had a lot of people come over and compliment us on a great gig, but also asking about Ari's stage shirt. Ari was wearing a Burzum t-shirt (a band he's not even into, he bought it as a 'kvlt' joke while in Norway), which, we learned yesterday, is regarded as a very 'pro-nazi' band in Germany. We want to make it clear that neither Ari, nor anyone else in Amoral, have ANY sympathy for these kind of ideologies, and want nothing to do with them. We apologize for any misunderstandings."

Progressive metal band 3 has issued the following update about wanting fan input/submissions for their new music video for the song "Rabid Animals":
“We are shooting our new video for "Rabid Animals" next week and we need your help!
"Please send in a 15 second web cam clip of yourself foaming at the mouth and staring at your computer screen, as if you were watching a live concert on TV. If you need help with the foam, try a 1/4 tablet of a alka-seltzer and some toothpaste. Try to make the lighting moody and interesting but not too dark (we need to see you!). These are the basic guidelines but feel free to be creative. Set your web cam to the best quality video setting (h.264 or mpeg4 are good) and then email the clip to: firstname.lastname@example.org
"If the file is too big for your email try sending it via www.sendthisfile.com or www.yousendit.com (both are free).
"WARNING -Do not foam onto your keyboard or other sensitive equipment! It doesn't take much alka-seltzer, if you use a whole one it will probably come out your nose! the sooner you get it to us the better, but the deadline is Thursday October 22!"
Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster has issued the following European tour road report:
"We're a little over a week into our headlining European tour, and so far it's been a huge success. Today we're in Bilbao, which is the third of three shows in Spain for this tour.
"So far the shows have all had great attendance. Last night in Madrid was sold out, and several other dates were really packed although not completely sold out, including a raging show at La Locomotive club in Paris ('La Loco'), which is located right next to the world-famous Moulin Rouge (see photos below in Paris).
"Tomorrow we head back into France for a show in Lyon, and then we head south to Italy and Greece, and then on to Eastern Europe before returning west again. I'll try to post a few more updates with some cool photos as the tour progresses. Until then I want to say thanks to the great fans who've attended the tour so far, hope to see the rest of you soon!"
