Running Wild To Release New EP

It’s been three years since Running Wild wowed their fans with their (still) current album, "Rapid Foray." Three years in which a lot of water has passed under the metal galleys of time and the fans’ requests for new songs have become more and more vociferous. To ease the wait so that his supporters won’t have to hold out until early summer 2020, Running Wild captain Rock´n`Rolf has come up with a real masterstroke: on December 6 - Saint Nicholas Day - the band have a special little gift for their fans and will release the "Crossing The Blades" EP, featuring four brand-new tracks, including an exciting cover of the KISS classic, "Strutter".

First of all, the focus is on the EP’s opener, "Crossing The Blades". What’s so special about this song is the fact that it’s a harbinger of the next regular album, scheduled for release in summer, but will remain unique in its present incarnation. Because, explains Kasparek: “This version will only be available on the Crossing The Blades EP. The album will feature a different version, completely re-recorded and with a number of little changes.” More...

Napalm Death Begins Mixing New Album

Shane Embury, bass player of British grindcore godfathers Napalm Death, has revealed that he has begun mixing the new Napalm Death album alongside longtime collaborator Russ Russell at The Parlour Studio in Kettering. A short post on Facebook simply reads:

"Mixing commences on the New ND album.... getting the sounds together!"

This will mark Napalm Death's first album since 2015's acclaimed, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" and will once again be released through Century Media.

Earlier this year, Metal Underground spoke with Napalm Death frontman Barney Greenway about work on the album. You can check out that interview below. More...

Grim Reaper Singer Talks New Album "At The Gates"

Back in the seventies and eighties, Great Britain became known for its heavy metal bands. Part of this was thanks to the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, which saw the rise of bands like Iron Maiden and Saxon, but there were so many bands before and after the NWOBHM that it feels like a national genre. One such band to come out swinging with metal imagery, soaring anthems and and enough power to light up London was Grim Reaper, a superb example of British heavy metal.

Over the years, frontman Steve Grimmett went on to other projects including fronting thrash metal favourites Onslaught for a time, forming a new band called Lionsheart and now, fronting a new version of his old outfit, named Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper. Only last week, the band released another stellar record in the form of "At The Gates" and I was lucky enough to catch up with Mr. Grimmett to discuss the album, his side project The Sanity Days with other former members of Onslaught and how kind America has been to the band. You can watch the interview in full below.

Diamond Oz: The new album, "At The Gates" is finally out. How does it compare to the previous release?

Steve Grimmett: Well, people are saying it's heavier. Some people are asking, "Why have you gone that way?" but really, we haven't. What we've done is written a bunch of songs and that's it. There was no choices about going down any road it was just, a song has got to be good to be on the album.

Oz: Something I really like about it, as I do with all Grim Reaper albums, is the artwork. Grim Reaper's always had really cool artwork. Who did this one?

Steve: It's a guy who's in a band called Tysondog, Steve Morrison. He offered his services some time ago and so I explained the story of the album; Me in the hospital, me losing my leg, blah blah blah and I want the grim reaper at the gates. He came up with a few but that one was the one that really stood out to us all. He's probably going to get another job (laughs). Considering he's not a professional, he just does it for pleasure. An absolute natural.

Machine Head Frontman Responds To Fan Backlash

Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn has taken to Instagram following a significant number of complaints and ridicule from fans regarding the band's new song, "Do Or Die," who have noted the similarities it bears to the 2001 Dope song, "Die Motherfucker Die." His message reads as follows:

"To all the bitchass internet troll motherfuckers who keep whining and menstruating about how 'Do Or Die' has lyrics from the band Dope. Here's a little fucking reminder for your moronic nu-metal-brains, since 1993 in our song 'Fuck It All' I’ve been saying 'c'mon motherfucker c'mon' in the middle break down. Here's video of me in 1995 saying it at Dynamo!

"It was a good seven years before Dope's 2001’s 'Die MF Die' came out you fuckin sausage gobblers!

"DUH!!

"Not to mention that any fucking band on the planet saying '______ motherfucker ______' in any combination (and that goes for Coal Chamber, Five Finger Death Punch, Dope, and yes, Machine Head) are all jacking it from 1984's hip hop classic 'The Roof Is On Fire' by Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three. Know your fucking musical history, fuckbois!!

"And if I hear one more fucking internet twathole moaning about 'cringe worthy lyrics' while they sit in front of their computers stroking their little fucking boners to the lyrical genius of fucking Babymetal, eat a bowl of cock! Because the second Pantera's 'Walk' comes on, with such lyrical Edgar Allan Poe-esque masterpiece like 'Run your mouth when I'm not around it's easy to achieve' and 'Walk on home boy' Or Lamb Of God's 'This is a motherfucking invitation' these same fucking brain-donors run right out to the dance floor and start headbanging! And rightly so!!

"P.S. Who the fuck listens to Dope!!??" More...
