Sacred Serenity has issued the following announcement about going on hiatus due to the band's drummer undergoing surgery:
"Our drummer Kyle has recently been diagnosed with a rare condition called Kienbock's disease. This disease interrupts the blood flow to the wrist and surrounding areas. It is NOT life threatening and it was diagnosed in the early stages so Kyle will be alright with the right treatment which bring us to our announcement.
"The band will be taking a hiatus to allow Kyle to undergo surgery and recover. WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP. No matter what comes this bands way, we will overcome it. We will be cancelling some of our upcoming shows, however our last show before our hiatus will be November 3rd with Born of Osiris at the Croc Rock in Allentown. This will be the last chance to see us before we take this mandatory break.
"Once again, we are by no means stopping. We are simply taking the time to allow Kyle to heal. Please come out to our last show before this break and support us and Kyle in our never ending quest to play the best music we can.
"Remember - NOVEMBER 3RD - last chance to see us before our break. See any of the band members for tickets and come support us through this time."

11:00am. After two full days of brushing my teeth with bottled water, “morning” and “night” (relative terms), without a sink, I have toothpaste streaked in white stains all over my army-green shorts. I’ve already lost count of people who’ve asked me how much I’ve been jerking it.
12:00pm. A bracing gust of wind pummels the gazebo. So far, the guy lines and tent pegs anchoring the flimsy metal stanchions to the ground have held (with some occasional coaxing), but they’ve taken a beating from the continuous breeze. We’re situated on the crest of a slope that scoops up the air and sends it hurtling into our camp. More...
Canadian act As Autumn Calls is currently deep in the process of crafting a new darkly atmospheric epic to see release next year through Rain Without End Records. As work progresses on the upcoming album, the band's bassist/vocalist James got in contact with us to explore the inner workings of what will come to be called "Cold, Black & Everlasting."
In the interview below, you can follow As Autumn Calls from its inception through the band's time refining its process and musical techniques to the present day as the four piece pulls forth a new album "about the constant struggle of facing the darkness and trying to find that place in your mind where you can find contentment, and perhaps even happiness." Dutch death metal act AntropomorphiA has collaborated with Rock Hard magazine in Germany for the worldwide premiere the "Psuchagogia" video clip. "Psuchagogia" comes off the band's new album "Evangelivm Nekromantia," set to be released this Friday on CD and LP. Check out the video below or through Rock Hard Magazine.
The clip was directed by video producer Maurice Swinkels and shot on location in Leipzig, Germany. Comments AntropomorphiA singer/guitarist Ferry Damen: "We talked about recording a video for 'Psuchagögia' a few months ago and decided to bring in Maurice Swinkels from Younique Film for the visual awakening of this track. I told Maurice some of the ideas I had regarding the 'storyline' and he came up with a great location in the eastern part of Germany, which turned out to be perfect for documenting this somewhat disturbingly and dark tale. We shot the video on September 8th and during the shoot we seriously got beneath the horrid surface of the tale we wanted to tell. It's our first ever video and I can say that we are thrilled about the way it turned out!" More...

"Banned by YouTube and Vimeo and deemed to be too over the top for Cattle's label Metal Blade Records to even touch, 'Forced Gender Reassignment' is a gory, obscenely graphic and explicitly intense story of what could happen when the tables are turned on a group of people whose faith blinds them to the point of being unable to mind their own business and just letting others be themselves. This will truly go down as one of the most disturbing music videos of all time. Cattle Decapitation will be touring this fall with Six Feet Under on The Autumn Apocalypse Tour and Dying Fetus on The Blood of Power Tour. See tour dates below." More...

Featuring members of Chaosweaver, Swallow the Sun, and Barren Earth, and produced by a Triptykon/Dark Fortress member, Kuolemanlaakso's "Uljas uusi maailma" ("Brave New World") is the band's debut album.
The track listing and cover artwork can be viewed below. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Named after one of the lowest, driest, and hottest places on Earth, Kuolemanlaakso ('Death Valley) took its first breath in the Spring of 2010. The band originally started out as a one-man project of guitarist Laakso (Chaosweaver). Much influenced by Eparistera Daimones of Triptykon, Laakso’s mission was to create an utterly dark and heavy album, full of catchy hooks and originality: a tragically beautiful world all its own.
"It was clear from the start that the lyrics would be recited in Finnish. They were inspired by Eino Leino’s (1878–1926) poem collection Helkavirsiä, the mystique of the Finnish forests, and the morbidity of the modern world. More...

The track comes off new album "Lovelessness," due for release on October 22nd through Metal Blade Records. The following press release was issued about the album:
"In the great Canadian spirit of loss and heart ache, the downer foursome known as Bison B.C. have managed to scourge their rotting brains desperately puking out new psalms of suffering. Akin to a lunatic writing their opus on the bedroom wall with their own shit comes this strange noise from the west coast melting pot of shit and failure; in a country based on terrifying distance and lonesome, stoic suffering. Lovelessness does not portray the death of love or the lack of the same. Rather it attempts to map out the pathetic and desperate pursuit of love, which in itself becomes violent like a cancer, an assault on anything that is good in the world. A heartfelt repulsion towards anything that could bring pleasure, because with happiness we suffer truly - the wanting of more. Gluttons! Pigs to the trough! Lead us to treachery! Lead us to solitude! More...

Following the departure of founding member Graham Lord Pyre, Stuka Squadron announced a permanent bass player in the form of Count Carlos Montoya el Foxico. Foxico replaces temporary bassist Doktor Suicide, who played on the band's forthcoming LP "New Sounds of War," which is expected for release on November 19, 2012 via Metalbox Recordings.
The announcement reads as follows:
"The Squadron is preparing for its next missions; the continuance of the Winter War, beginning in Southampton this Friday, 19 October. It also marks the entrance into Squadron history of a colleague long known to the Squadron but on duties elsewhere: Count Carlos Montoya el Foxico (not to be confused with swordmaster Inigo Montoya who seeks revenge against the six-fingered man that killed his father...though they may be distant relations).
"Doktor Suicide, a Squadron Pilot from days of yore and who recently stepped back in to see the Squadron through many live shows and album writing and recording during 2012, is nearing the end of his stationing within the United Kingdom. It was always known that he has to return to the East and therefore could not remain indefinitely with the Squadron. While with us he has bought stunning guitar work and new layers of musical adventure, fitting like a hand into the undead Squadron glove. But alas, the Winter War continues without the Doktor.
"Enter Count Foxico...
"As is related in the Squadron history, war and chaos have long been perfect homes for those of a vampiric nature. Count Foxico was perfectly at home slaking his blood lust in the orange groves that were the killing fields of the Condor Legion; an arena of war where the very nature of the Sturzkampfflugzeug, the Stuka, was developed. And now Foxico joins the Squadron. The New Sound Of War has fresh teeth to it......" More...

Every week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we take a look at three quality bands that haven't gotten as much exposure yet as they should. This week, we will be taking a look at three bands who mix hard rocking sounds with synthesisers. Those of you who have read my posts in the Now Playing threads in our forums will probably be aware by now that I'm a big fan of synthpop and electronic music, particularly the likes of New Order and the Pet Shop Boys. So with this in mind, I went in search of bands that combine these digital sounds with the aggression of heavy metal. As it turns out, there’s quite a few bands out there melding the two, and it’s not a brand new experiment either. In 1998, nu metal outfit, Orgy covered one of the biggest hits by New Order, "Blue Monday" for the second single from their debut album, "Candyass." Make of it what you will.
Orgy aren’t the first band of more modern times to cover a classic synthpop track, most of us have heard Lacuna Coil's rendition of the Depeche Mode staple, "Enjoy The Silence," and even the old guards of heavy metal have taken a stab at paying tribute to their eighties contemporaries. For example, below we can hear German power metal kings Gamma Ray performing a cover of the haunting Pet Shop Boys track, "It’s A Sin." More...
Multi-national heavy metal act Raven Lord is streaming the new track "Black Friar." The song appears on the band's forthcoming debut album, "Descent to the Underworld." The album is expected for release in December 2012.

The album's artwork was created by Caio Caldas "CadiesArt," who has previously worked with Doro, Paul Di'Anno, Seven Kingdoms, Dominanz and Violet Sun.
Raven Lord just recently added Joe Stump (Holy Hell/Reign of Terror) as lead guitarist.
