Sorxe Signs With Prosthetic Records

Phoenix, AZ-based experimental sludge/post metal band Sorxe has announced the band's signing to Prosthetic Records. The band will release its second full-length album "Matter & Void" on November 24th.

"Matter & Void" was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Matt Bayles (Russian Circles, Botch, Isis). The album will be available via CD, limited edition violet and black swirl LP and all digital outlets. Pre-orders are available now at this location.

The four-piece relies heavily on improvisation, pulling ideas from an eclectic well of inspiration ranging from Neurosis, Swans, Melvins and Pink Floyd. SORXE consists of guitarist/vocalist Tanner Crace, drummer Shane Ocell, and two bassists - Christopher Coons and Jonathan Portnoy, who tread new psychedelic ground into the unknown.

Crace comments on the signing: "Sorxe is humbled and honored to join the Prosthetic family! We have much music to share with everyone and we are truly excited to have this platform and support of the label to be able to extend our reach. We are greatly looking forward to the 'Matter & Void' album release, touring, and bringing the music to a wider audience of people all over the world. Thank you!"

The first single "Hypnotizer," can be streamed via Metal Injection either at this location, or just below in the player provided.

Crace says about the track: "Lyrically there's a lot of intertwining themes about the cold calculating and unforgiving nature of existence. The song 'Hypnotizer' deals with the allure and seduction of new technologies and how it's all sold to all of us to make life easier, but the double edge sword of the matter is we are becoming even more distant and distracted. Life is getting more chaotic and moving faster than we can keep up. More...

Conan Falls Into The "Gravity Chasm"

The world's heaviest doom metal-band Conan is streaming the 2012 demo track "Gravity Chasm" in the player below. The song appears on the upcoming release "Man Is Myth - Early Demos" coming November 17th via Napalm Records.

Says guitarist & vocalist Jon Paul Davis: "'Gravity Chasm' made it onto the final album and it was always a favorite tribute to Cathedral's own 'Ride' which has a similar riff. I wanted to write a song like this for a while and it kind of came together one day when we were trying to play Iron Maiden in the studio."

It roars and cranks all over, dull distortion drags nerves into the coldest regions of the world. It's no accident that the band calls this "Caveman Battle Doom." "Man Is Myth - Early Demos" is the primordial soup for everything that Conan stands for!

The track list for "Man Is Myth - Early Demos" is:

Death Alley Signs With Century Media Records

Dutch destroyers Death Alley signed on with Century Media Records for the upcoming sophomore album. The band is streaming the new song "The Sewage," which is available in the player at the bottom.

The band already raised attention with the debut album "Black Magick Boogieland" in 2015. The band, revolving around former The Devil’s Blood guitarist Oeds Beydals, singer Douwe Truijens, Swedish drummer Uno Bruniusson (ex-In Solitude) and latest addition Sander Bus on bass, mainline an unorthodox cross contamination of psychedelic hard rock and punk, played with excellent precision and power. The spirit of Bad Brains and King Crimson, Hawkwind and Poison Idea, and hints of The Stooges and Black Sabbath-worship form the fundament for Death Alley's solid rock and roll presented with metal finesse and a pitch black psychedelic soul cherry on top.

The ink on the new deal with Century Media Records isn’t dry yet and the band just left the Moon Studios where they recorded the sophomore album with producer Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho, The Devil’s Blood, Dool, etc.). Right now, the band is hitting the road again with friends in Kadavar with whom very special tour split 7” was created. More...

Withered Bones Releases New Song "Evansville"

Take a listen to "Evansville" in the player below, the first song from Withered Bones' forthcoming album "In Search Of Self-Evidence" coming December 8th from Blood & Ink Records.

The effort is filled with anxiety and discontentment, but those aggressive emotions aren’t without purpose. Taking notes from 2013’s wave of melodic hardcore, the band addresses a multitude of unpopular topics head-on, including issues within the church, social discontentment, and self-discovery. "In Search of Self-Evidence" is a journey to find answers for questions many of us don’t want to ask. Will you be listening?

Formed by Earnie Ashwood (Guitar), Lola Campbell (Vocals), Bobby McGranahan (Bass), Gibraltar (Guitar), Craig Cinderich (Keys), Adam Cignatta (Vocals), Oz La'brae (Drums), and Deadmics (MC/Vocals), the 8-piece outfit reflects our tumultuous societal climate by pushing the boundaries of time signatures and thriving within atypical progressions. Night In Gales Signs To Apostasy Records

Apostasy Records announced that the label has signed German melodic death metal act Night In Gales. Fans of the early material can expect a proper rejuvenation of the band.

Night In Gales looks back at turbulent times: The first sign of life, 1995’s EP "Sylphlike," was already one of the most successful metal-demos of all time. Therefore, label-powerhouse Nuclear Blast came into the picture, with whom the quintet signed a deal for a couple of albums. They also toured alongside In Flames, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, Death, Dismember and many others and they played numerous festivals like Rockharz, the Wacken Open Air or the Summer Breeze. After some calmer years, the band returned with 2011’s brilliant album "Five Scars." Only one year later, long term vocalist Bjoern Gooßes left the band to concentrate completely on his band The Very End.

Last year, the band announced the addition of original vocalist Christian Mueller who also sang on their initial EP "Sylphlike." He finalized the new album, which marks a distinct step back to the band’s roots. Thus, the songs offer furious melodic twin guitar riffing, driven by technical death metal drumming, topped by a manic frustrated voice that sounds like someone is crucified upside down.

The band comments: "We are happy to confirm that Night In Gales has inked a new worldwide record deal with Germany's finest in melodic death metal: Apostasy Records! It feels good to be back and we are 100% sure to have the full support of Tomasz and his Team, as these guys are true underground-proofed death metal maniacs, who run the label with the necessary passion and idealism. We are proud to be a part of the Apostasy roster among brothers in crime like Ablaze My Sorrow, This Ending, Nailed To Obscurity, Burial Vault, Fragments Of Unbecoming, Damnation Defaced, Sign Of Cain, a.m.o. The new album is ready to release and there will be some exiting news containing more details like album track list, cover artwork, editions a.s.o. really soon, so stay tuned for this! Cheers, NIG anno 2017" More...

Panorama To Issue Debut "Around The World"

Swiss/Finnish/American hard rock band, Panorama has signed with European label ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records for the debut album "Around The World" in early 2018.

The album features eleven tracks and is produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by bassist Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69). The band also features ex-Adagio/Random Eyes vocalist Christian Palin, Gods of Silence guitarist Sammy Lasagni, Amoral guitarist Ben Varon and Gods of Silence drummer Philipp Eichenberger.

In 2008, Sammy Lasagni (Gods of Silence, ex-Kirk, ex-Godiva), met the Uruguay born singer Christian Palin (Random Eyes, ex-Adagio) for the first time when Godiva, supported the band Adagio - fronted by Christian. The chemistry between the two was immediately obvious so they decided that they would, at some point in time, try to make music together. The two kept in contact but the years plodded along until 2015 when a certain long telephone call on a cold winter’s day changed everything. Right then and there they decided to get to work. They began writing songs and in record time 15 new songs were born. They decided to work with Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69) as a producer. The guys soon after met with Dennis and introduced their songs. Dennis was genuinely impressed. So impressed that he agreed to work with them and joined the band not only as producer, but as a bass player too.

Under the direction of Dennis Ward, who took over the whole production (produced, recorded, mixed and mastered), the band recorded the debut album "Around the World" partially at HOFA studios in Karlsdorf Germany and at The TrakShak, Dennis’ private studio. It was a long process but the album turned out fantastic. A hard rock production with a bit of Scandinavian influences and Christian has proven himself to be a world-class singer. Together with ROAR (Rock of Angles Records) Panorama found the perfect partner to release "Around the World” in early 2018.

Grave Spirit Sets Date For Debut EP

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets January 12, 2018 as the international release date for Grave Spirit's striking debut EP, "The Beast Unburdened by Flesh," on 7" EP format.

Grave Spirit was spawned in the earliest days of 2017, born from the mind of BW and slowly put together during the early months of the year. After the writing was underway and early recording of the guitar work began in earnest, ES was recruited on drums, and TG joined the project on bass. "The Beast Unburdened By Flesh" was summoned in the summer of the same year as Grave Spirit's creation, and now comes to horrify the world with tales of the mythical, both living and undead. Its primary foundation is the eternal fire of black witching metal, but here suffused with the ghastliness and dread of eldritch death metal. Its powers are simple yet profound, and between these two tracks, Grave Spirit mark a more-than-promising start to terrorizing souls worldwide.

The artwork and track listing are as follows:

Side A: Absorbing Essence from Underneath
Side B: The Beast Unburdened by Flesh More...

Aetherian Streams New Song "Shade Of The Sun"

Greek melancholic melodic death metal upcomers Aetherian have revealed the second single entitled "Shade of the Sun" off their forthcoming Lifeforce Records debut album "The Untamed Wilderness," which is set to be released on November 24th (Ltd. 2LP January 12th). Check out the new song in the player below and pre-order the album over here.

Melodic death metal does not necessarily have to come from Scandinavia. Aetherian is one of those bands that stand any competition with the genre pioneers from the North with ease. Formed in autumn 2013, the Greek quartet has only released the EP “Tales Of Our Times” so far, but significantly increased its activities afterwards. With the self-released video of their song "The Rain" in April 2016 the band created, what you can call a little Youtube phenomenon with nearly 1.5 million plays so far. This directly leads to the full length debut “The Untamed Wilderness.”

The first full length album offers mature death metal songs, which are developed organically and with many shades. Aetherian's musicality is distinguished by effective contrasts as well as striking riffs and melodies. A gloomy melancholy accompanies the album, but “The Untamed Wilderness” is by no means sad. The direction is rather confident and expectant. This is the reason, why the songwriting of the Greeks turns out so varied and playful. Aetherian celebrates life and dark-tuned creativity. The death metal offers all musical liberties, which are necessary. The Athenians know how to take advantage of their opportunity. “The Untamed Wilderness” marks an impressive debut for all fans of melodic Death Metal.

The track list for the album is:

1. Wish of Autumn Twilight
2. Dark Earth
3. As the Veil Fades
4. Black Sails
5. Seeds of Deception (song streaming here)
6. Shade of the Sun
7. Clouds Gathering
8. The Rain
9. The Path

To celebrate, I recorded an out take from the Abject sessions and we just about managed to squeeze it on to the CD. ‘Xylematic Disembowelment’ is a zappa inspired instrumental combined with death metal. Vangough Post-Impressionist Video Game Battles I

MetalUnderground.com has always been about providing the full breadth of entertainment to our readers. Music stands at the crossroads of so many other forms of entertainment and is a unifying force that binds, whether it blends in art, history, literature, motion pictures, or in this case video games.

Oklahoma City progressive metal act Vangough blends nearly all forms of entertainment within its fantastic form of music, including nods to classic games. Take its 2010 sophomore release "Game On" (see review here), in which the band did an instrumental tribute to 25 years of gaming music.

Vocalist Clay Withrow approached us with an idea to exclusively run a new feature series on classic video games. You see, Clay and the guys fancy themselves video game connoisseurs, akin to beer snobbery, but with consoles. Armed with an eclectic, and seemingly endless array of games in the collection, the band produces video clips of classic game battles. It is a unique and fascinating look into a form of entertainment that practically envelops nearly all in the metal world, young and old. More...

Omnium Gatherum Releases New Single

Finnish melodic death metal act Omnium Gatherum just dropped a new single "Blade Reflections." The song is an extra track recorded in the sessions for 2016's "Grey Heavens" album.

Singer Jukka Pelkonen comments, "In the light of recent events we wanted to voice our opinion about the tragedy of suicide. This is a subject that may concern anyone at some point. ʻBlade Reflectionsʼ is a statement against suicide and an encouragement to all of those who dwell in the depths of self-annihilation. Having been there myself too, I know how devastating it can be. There is nothing more precious than this life itself and it is worth seeing through. Though, we do not condemn those who choose to go, rather we want to stand by with all the rest, all of us, who are staying."

Guitarist Markus Vanhala adds, "ʻBlade Reflectionsʼ is a lil’ older song that didn’t entirely fit to our previous album, so here it is - as a single format standalone anthem! The song was produced in a kind of swansong recording session with our former long-time drummer Jarmo Pikka. So we still keep Tuomo Latvalas upcoming beats and styles as mystery for you til’ the next album, the Century Media OG debut, which we're soon about to start recording. Before that, enjoy ʻBlade Reflectionsʼ and come to see us on autumnal European stages in October/November during our ʻArctic Circle Allianceʼ co-headline tour with Icelanders of Skalmöld and Finnish fellows Stam1na opening all the evenings!"

Atoll Releases New Song "Eternal Prolapse"

Phoenix-based death death/slam metal outfit Atoll released the new single "Eternal Prolapse." The track hails from the band's impending sophomore album "Fallout Frenzy," which is set for a November 17th release through Gore House Productions. Pre-orders are available at this location.

"Eternal Prolapse" comes courtesy of Toilet Ov Hell at this location, but you don't have to go anywhere since it is also available in the player at the bottom.

Offers Wade Taylor of the new album and the release the "Eternal Prolapse" single, "The amount of excitement in the Atoll camp for this release is incredible. Besides being one of the most brutal labels in the independent community, Gore House Productions has been second to none in helping us prepare the masses for this Atomic bomb of an album to be released. The extent of the support we have received from them is unparalleled. We decided to go with a classic comic book style for the cover art. We feel it suits our personality as a band and our sense of humor. The track we've selected for the first single explains the decline of society as a whole, as well as insinuating another type of blown-out hole. This track is called 'The Eternal Prolapse'... Prepare your anuses."

Hard Action Details New Album "Hot Wired Beat"

Finnish hard rock act Hard Action's debut album, "Sinister Vibes" (2015), was an unexpected underground success with its buzzsaw-guitar caveman brand of action rock, taking the band to several tours across Europe. Their second album, "Hot Wired Beat," is set for international release December 1st via Svart Records. Check out the first single "Nothing Ever Changed" in the player below.

The Hard Action of today is a slightly older, more street-smart, tighter bunch of hairy youngsters. "Hot Wired Beat" boils with the hot blood of youth, but its better musicianship and production values give room for certain more traditional aspects of rock music, such as melody and hooks. Tradition is the key here in other respects, too: at times, the record channels the spirit of the early '70s Rolling Stones; at others, it sounds not unlike something Hanoi Rocks could've recorded early on.

On "Hot Wired Beat," Hard Action succeed in being both youthfully reckless and smooth, like scenes of violent street fights set to classic Fleetwood Mac albums. Expect to see the band live at an underground joint near you in 2018.

The track listing for "Hot Wired Beat" is:

1. Free Fall
2. Nothing Ever Changed
3. Hostile Street
4. The Losing Side
5. Running Start
6. Tied Down
7. Knocked Down, Dragged Out
8. May
9. Tunnel Vision More...
