It's metal, it's groovy, it's filled with fast riffs, double bass attacks and brutal groovy songs!" He added, "Artwork is a very important part of it all for us, that's why the only choice was Eliran Kantor, and as always, he delivered just what the album needed, his art instantly takes your imagination into another dimension, which is exactly what our music does." In the end a black hole swallows him distorting his form and pulling him away in to another dimension orbiting in darkness thousands of light-years away to be found by unlucky cosmonauts. In theory there are 3 songs, but the songs are part of a longer story. Because of this, we pack the whole EP as one track, which is the way it was meant to be listened to." More...

Hatebreed lead vocalist Jamey Jasta comments, "We're really excited to be working with such great people at both Razor & Tie and Nuclear Blast. We've made an awesome album and we're chomping at the bit to get it out and hit the road. Global domination begins now."
In a joint statement, Pete Giberga VP of A&R and John Franck SVP of Marketing for Razor & Tie comment, "Hatebreed's anthems coupled with their do-or-die work ethic continues to make them a dominant force in hardcore and metal today. Their inclusionary message and deep relationship with their fan-base also makes them a band that is built for these times. With the group playing some of the best shows of its career, their renewed sense of purpose has never sounded more steadfast and resolute than it does on this forthcoming new record."
The forthcoming new album was co-produced by Hatebreed, Zeuss (Suicide Silence, All That Remains, Shadows Fall), and Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold). Wilbur also handled mixing duties on the new record. The new studio album will be supported by extensive global touring that will stretch well into 2014. More...
As "White Lightnin’," the second full-length from German quartet Obelyskkh, nears release on Exile On Mainstream next week, today Stereokiller is hosting an exclusive stream of the entire album. Check out the full stream at this location. The following press release was issued about the album:
"White Lightnin’ is a roaring tour de force of catchy, flowing sludge/doom with just the right amount of atmospheric properties to counter its skull-shattering low-end assault, drawing from pure filth through psychedelic soundscapes into postrock and back. The output of Obelyskkh is crushing but it also breathes some kind of repetitive mantra-like ambition, which clears the air here and there and thus declines total negativity.
"Amidst tours and live performances throughout Germany and abroad since their 2008 inception, White Lightnin’ follows-up Obelykkhs’s long-time-comin’ debut Mount Nysa, which was released in 2011 via now defunct German label Droehnhaus, nearly four years after the band’s formation. Following the immediately incredible response from the doom/sludge scene it received, the band decided against a massive gap until the next album, and over the turn of the year into 2011 set up camp with Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Mr. Bungle, Eyehategod, High On Fire, Melvins, etc.) to capture, mix and master their new work."
"White Lightnin’" will see North American release on CD, LP, and digital download via Exile On Mainstream this Tuesday, October 16th.
The Haarp Machine has posted a preview of the band's new album "Disclosure," which can be viewed below. "Disclosure" is set for release through Sumerian Records on October 16th (North America), October 15th (Europe), and October 19th (Australia/New Zealand). Today Decibel Magazine is hosting a stream of the LP’s expansive trio of new tunes at this location. The following press release was also issued about "Climax Community:"
"The act’s first official release for German riff-seekers Exile On Mainstream, Climax Community shows the duo expanding their avant-garde orchestrated audio layering/looping and paralleling visual displays to clever new territories with possibly the most adventurous material they’ve created to date."
Darsombra also has the following upcoming live appearance:

Intergalactic space mutants GWAR will kick off their North American tour dubbed the "Fate or Chaos" tour this Friday October 12th in Philadelphia, PA. The tour will run through November 26th wrapping up in Pittsburgh, PA. Direct support on the tour will be provided by DevilDriver, with Cancer Bats and Legacy of Disorder rounding out the bill.
GWAR lead throat thing Oderus Urungus spoke about the upcoming tour: "We are pleased as piss-punch to be back on the road with old buddies DevilDriver and Legacy of Disorder, and very stoked to also have Cancer Bats with us. They are from Canada right? Why do so many cool things come from a place they call America's Hat? Who is to say that America isn't Canada's sweater? No matter! With a nod to departed Scumdog Flattus Maximus, let the games begin with a BRAND NEW SHOW. Let the era of Pustulus Maximus begin!"
It was announced last week that Pustulus Maximus has now joined GWAR as an official Scumdog brother. Little is known about this being, other than that he has a skin condition where his face and feet are covered in painful pustules that can only be soothed by the application of savage metal, spoiled elephant semen, or oral sex. Pustulus is also rumored to be half-deaf, which leads him to yell at everyone, which he does often, because he is convinced everyone in the band is ignoring him when actually he just can't hear what they are saying. It is not known whether he crashed his Scumship into Antarctica or wandered up from the depths of GWAR's Antarctic fortress - all that is known is that he is here, now, and is ready to ROCK. More...

The 6th full-length album from avant-garde metal band Ephel Duath will be released in spring 2013 via Agonia Records. The album title as well as album artwork have been set and will be revealed later this year.
The follow up to the "On Death and Cosmos" EP (reviewed here) will introduce a line-up change in the rhythmic section. All bass parts have already been recorded by Bryan Beller (Mike Keneally, Steve Vai, Dethklok, The Aristocrats, James La Brie, Dweezil Zappa) in replacement of Steve Di Giorgio. Marco Minnemann returns playing drums for Ephel Duath, which according to a press release "brings the creative relationship between drums and guitars to a dynamism never reached before by the band."
"Ephel Duath's new album is the musical statement I wish this band will be remembered for," comments Davide Tiso (founder/guitarist). "All I've learned or not learned musically, all I've always wanted my lyrics to be, live and breathe in these eight new songs. This album holds together all that Ephel Duath's music has touched in the last fifteen years and pushes its boundaries even further. I feel that a whole new expressive world is opening up to me and this band. My intent is to blindly follow this recent path and to bring Ephel Duath to higher and higher levels of intensity, riff after riff, song after song, with patience and obstinacy, an open heart and dedication."
In January Ephel Duath will enter Mana Recording Studios is St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan to record guitars and vocals and to mix the album. At the moment the band is busy putting the last touches on what will be the final guitars and vocals tracks. The band's current recording line-up is:
Karyn Crisis - vocals
Marco Minnemann - drums
Bryan Beller - bass
Davide Tiso - guitars

The experimental artisans in Locrian have entered the studio to begin recording their Relapse Records full-length debut. The as-of-yet-titled album is being recorded by Greg Norman (Pelican) at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, IL. The album will then be mastered by Jason Ward at Chicago Mastering Service.
A two-part concept album inspired by the band’s love for prog-rock progenitors Genesis, Yes, and King Crimson, this is sure to be the group’s most ambitious recordings to date. Multi-instrumentalist Andre Foisy commented on the new material:
“This is our most concise album yet. Our statements developed quickly compared to many of our other releases. We're all really into prog rock and we made this a concept album in musical and lyrical themes.
"Musically, side A ends in a trilogy of songs and side B ends in a quadrilogy. Each of these two tracks mirror each other in places. In addition to some musical themes that pop up in different places in the album, there are also some musical themes that harken back to our older catalog.”
Tentative track titles include “A Visitation From the Wrath of Heaven,” “Exiting the Hall of Vapor and Light,” and “Panorama of Mirror”. A spring 2013 release via Relapse is expected with more details to be announced shortly.

Since 2006, Fun Fun Fun Fest (FFF) has given the people of Austin, Texas a reason to cheer, laugh, sing, dance, mosh and play air guitar. While not as prolific as ACL (Austin City Limits) or as expansive as SXSW, which covers most of the city, Fun Fun Fun Fest is unique in the entertainment it offers.
Although every year presents plenty of heavy acts, Napalm Death, Tomahawk, Municipal Waste and Pallbearer are scheduled on this year's Black Stage on November 2-4, there are times when distorted guitars are absent. These moments are best served taking in a comedian’s act, riding a mechanical bull, playing video games or simply discovering a new band. Metal heads with wrist bands in need of further straining their neck tendons can attend a FFF Nites show for free and throw their horns to bands such as Brutal Truth.
Last year’s installment brought in Danzig, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Eyehategod and many other loud and extreme artists. Danzig’s set was dubbed “Danzig Legacy” because he performed shorts sets of all of his bands—Danzig, Samhain and Misfits. However, the festival was forced to cut his set short soon after launching into the Misfit’s segment. His reaction caused FFF co-owner Graham Williams to blog about the fiasco, which went viral on the Internet.
Since our article containing William's comments on working with Danzig became Metal Underground.com's most read article of the year, we figure we should ask Williams a few questions concerning this debacle. Additionally, he commented on the history of FFF, his criteria for booking artists, this year’s big surprises and what artists he hopes to secure for future festivals. More...
Utrecht (NL) celebrates the launch of a brand new rock festival as dB's Studio is hosting the first edition of ProgMayhem on October 13th, an evening with heavy rock and metal sounds and a variety of music styles. A trailer for the event can be viewed below, and the following press release was issued:
"ProgMayhem features progressive rock & metal, or simply 'prog' music. The genre of prog once started as 'symfonic rock' in the seventies, starring bands like Rush, Yes and Focus. Progressive music is known for it's melodies and technical complexity. Nowadays, bands like Dream Theater and Opeth are important names in the genre. ProgMayhem is organized by the Dutch band Alerion, who wants to provide a stage for new talent in the prog nusic genre and offer them the spotlight.
"ProgMayhem features four bands: headliner Ex Libris, combining heavy and technical metal with the operetic vocals of rockchick Dianne van Giersbergen, who recently graduated as Master of Arts in Music. Prog rock band Incidense, based in Utrecht, released their album 'Incarcerated' in 2011 and features strong male vocals. Upcoming talents Equisa show an impressive combination of heavy riffs and 'dream-like soundscapes'." More...
Today, Stagnant Waters reveals the first track "Algae," taken from the forthcoming self-titled debut (reviewed here) set for worldwide release on October 29th through Adversum. Give the song a listen in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"A French-Norwegian entity, Stagnant Waters' self-titled debut is an awe-inspiring album of mutant music. Firmly rooted in extreme metal, Stagnant Waters present a highly radioactive mix of scathing guitars, otherworldly electronics, Dadaistic improvisation, uncompromising complexity, and unnatural tempos.
"Comprised of Norwegian vocalist Svein Egil 'Zweizz' Hatlevik (Fleurety, Umoral, ex-DHG/Dødheimsgard), drummer/electronics operator/clarinetist Aymeric Thomas (Pryapisme), and guitarist/bassist Camillle Giraudeau (Dreams of the Drowned, Smohalla), Stagnant Waters has recorded a spontaneous, experimental, and energetic album, a maximalistic, hedonistic, and animalistic celebration of unfettered creativity."
