Cult American stoner band Unida will be reuniting for one show at the Whisky A Go Go on November 24th, along with Witchburn and All Hail The Yeti. Unida features former Kyuss/current Kyuss Lives! vocalist John Garcia. Unida had marked it's return to the stage on August 10th in the Coachella Valley venue The Hood Bar & Pizza. The Unida line-up will feature Michael Cancino on drums, Arthur Seay on guitar and his twenty year old nephew Owen Seay on bass. Unida recruited him on bass since they wanted some young blood with little or no baggage.
German metal band Powerworld has enlisted American vocalist David Reece (Accept, Bangalore Choir) to replace Andrew "Mac" McDermott, who recorded the vocal parts on the band's second album "Human Parasite" in 2010 and passed away in August 2011.
Rumors that interim shouter Michael Bormann would sing on the upcoming album have proved unfounded. Bassist Ilker Ersincomments : "It's true that we briefly toyed with the idea, but for various reasons we decided not to follow it up." Ersin is all the more happy about his new colleague, David Reece: "It's an amazing experience for me to be working with an American instead of a European musician for the first time in my career, especially since David is an experienced vocalist. The first songs he recorded for Powerworld have confirmed my expectations."
Reece, who succeeded Udo Dirkschneider on the Accept album "Eat The Heat" in 1989, went on to tour with Accept and then founded Bangalore Choir before releasing his solo debut "Universal Language" three years ago. Reece comments: "Powerworld sounds more progressive and intense than the stuff I recently worked on. I feel that my voice suits their material perfectly, and I'll work hard on delivering my optimum performance. I'm glad to be back home, because being married to a German woman, Germany is my favorite country in Europe."
The new album will be called "Virtuality" and has been scheduled for release in spring 2013. According to Ersin, it's not a concept album but a recording which "reflects the madness in the virtual and also in the real world." Stylistically, Virtuality is a mix of modern metal with progressive influences and classic hard rock. Reece states: "We can hardly wait to introduce the new material to our fans and go on stage with them as soon as possible, particularly since we have found our ideal record company in SPV."

"Traditionally forged Heavy Metal! For more than 20 years, the Heavy Metal institution has been example for how German steel has to be forged - no-holds-barred, heavy and on maximum volume! The new album 'Force of Destruction' stays true to the band's creed and fires from all cylinders. Heavy riffs, pounding drums, melodic hooklines and catchy refrains turn songs like 'Iron Will' or 'Bulletstorm' into anthems of the genre.
"In each and every second, every song on the album breathes the band's fighting spirit and sense of the tradition. The longplayer was produced by sound wizard Piet Sielck, who has already lent his talents to bands like Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian or Iron Savior. He gave 'Force of Destruction' a crystal-clear and heavy sound. The limited first pressing includes the exclusive bonus track 'Blood & Iron' that features Piet Sielck & Kai Hansen on guest vocals. Heavy Metal fans know what to do!" More...

On October 27th, renowned multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer and now ringleader, Devin Townsend is gearing up for one of his biggest accomplishments to date: The Retinal Circus. Set to take place at London's historic Roundhouse venue, this one-night only event has been sold out for over a year now; however, fans worldwide can still watch this event live online, thanks to Northern Music Company & InsideOut Music in association with Live Music Stage.
To watch Devin Townsend's Retinal Circus online, visit this location to purchase your tickets (tickets can be bought now for £7.99, which is roughly $13 and €10; paypal and all major credit cards are taken).
Devin describes the Retinal Circus as: "a retrospective of my career in music to date, with the central theme being a metaphor of how life and the adventures therein are a 'circus' of sorts. The show involves a cast of characters and guests that support this theme through carnival type performances. A story about how a troubled young man dreams of fantastic scenarios, (illustrated through the music of my back catalogue), which ultimately crests in the characters realization that life is all about the relationships we have with each other. This is the first opportunity I have been given to make theatrical representations of my music."
This three hour plus performance will include:
- A retrospective of Devin Townsend's entire career
- Full choir and theatrical cast
- Visual and aural enhancements unlike any show Devin has done to date
- Several special guests
- Circus and carnival performances and cast
- Art exhibit of Devin's albums, including explanations of each album

The Danish melodic heavy metal band Forcentury has signed with Mighty Music and will release second opus “Revelant” on December 3rd, 2012. The cover artwork is available after the jump, and Mighty Music commented:
"Forcentury embraces music from power metal to progressive metal with an unmistakable classic rock twist that draw inspirations from both the 80s pioneers (such as Iron Maiden and Helloween) and the contemporary inheritors (such as Symphony X and Pagan's Mind). The quintet has existed for four years now and from day one a solid work ethic has been their core value – along with great passion for the music that they play. The complex compositions including twin guitars and soaring keyboards, yet always with a thread running through it, are tied together by the distinct classical AOR-sounding, forceful, vibrating vocal of the lead singer Johnn Thunder. The lyrics reveal issues such as the flaws of society, state of the world and the imperfection of man.
"The new album 'Revelant' is recorded and engineered at the Copenhagen-based Earplug Studio (Mercyful Fate, Hank Shermann’s Demonica, Force of Evil, Fate, Pitchblack, Iron Fire, etc.). It has been mixed and produced at Denmark’s legendary Medley Studios by Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Marco Mendoza, Mike Tramp, Artillery, Oliver Weers, etc.). The artwork for 'Revelant' has been made by Swedish artist Monowasp and is a continuation of the landscape, machinery and mood of the cover art from the debut album. Check out the track 'Seal of the Sinner' from 'Relevant' below." More...
Serenity, which recently performed at the Prog Power 2012 USA festival, has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming tour dates:
"Serenity wants to inform you that we had to cancel all shows for Nov/Dec 2012 in the Netherlands as support to the dutch band Delain.
"Please believe us that this was a really hard decision for all of us as there is no worse case scenario than cancelling a show. But to keep close to our tight time schedule for the upcoming album there - disappointingly - was no other way as release dates are already fixed. More on that very soon...
"In conjunction with the release of the next album we will tour all over Europe again. Promised... Also therefor a lot of dates are already fixed and we will release all info as soon as ALL DATES are fixed.
"We know that a lot of people have been looking forward to our shows with Delain. We will do everything to give you a new chance to see us. So please keep close to our website and our Facebook channel as we announce tour dates for 2013 in the coming months..."

British crossover thrashers SSS are due to kick off a mini tour tonight - Wednesday, October 10th - in Bristol, UK.
The "Overgrown" tour will see the band performing a string of shows in the UK, Belgium, and Netherlands, including a performance at Bloodshed Fest in Eindhoven on October 13th. SSS frontman Foxy comments:
"We have been underground writing new music. It's finally time to crack the crust from our eyes and get out and play it. We only like to tour when it's worthwhile. So a slew of new concrete skateparks, hectic European festivals and touring with Negative Approach are more than good enough reasons."
SSS bassist Mark Magill adds: "Can't wait to get out on tour this week. A few shows on our own, then hitting the mighty Bloodshed fest to catch up with mates old and new, and finishing off with a run playing with Negative Approach. Perfect. The thing I'm most looking forward to is Glasgow - deep fried black pudding. It's been too long."

U.S. death metal pioneers Incantation have revealed the cover art and track listing for their anticipated new album, "Vanquish in Vengeance." The long-awaited followup to 2006's "Primordial Domination," "Vanquish in Vengeance" carries a recurring lyrical theme that addresses the countless acts of genocide in the name of religion throughout our history. Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee comments:
"The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. 'Vanquish in Vengeance' symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. We have always stayed true to our original vision and have never caved into trends. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date."
"Vanquish in Vengeance" was recorded at Mars Studio with Bill Korecky and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios, with cover art courtesy of Worthless. The cover art and tracklisting of the album follows below. More...

"This label doesn't need any introduction and will surely provide us a worldwide visibility," continues the band "and this can only be the best possible start for a project that will give us huge satisfaction, for sure. "We're going to be able to announce our first European tour supporting an important American band," the members of ex-Gandhi's Gunn also reveal, "and we're also planning our first U.S. tour during 2013 under the aegis of Small Stone."
"In the meanwhile we've started writing the songs for our new album, that will hopefully be considered a starting point for a new era in our history.. so, after celebrating the record deal, the time has come to give life to ISAAK, a band born to win a place of honor in the Heavy Rock world.
