"Formed by multi-instrumentalist Pete Morten, of British prog metal legends Threshold, the essence of My Soliloquy is pure forward thinking metal – symphonic keyboards, shredding guitar leads, soaring vocals – all finely woven together through a blend of intricacy and melody into a powerful force.
"Following a pair of demos and an EP release, Sensory is proud to finally unleash the newly-completed first full-length from this act. With nearly all instrumentation on the recording executed solely by Pete Morten, minus the drumming, The Interpreter flows with over fifty minutes of grand musicianship, expertly mixed and mastered by Rob Aubrey, a mainstay of Marillion’s camp for many years." He will increase the level of the band with his precious experience and inner talent that everyone well knows. Welcome onboard mate!"
Orlando also commented: "I’m very happy to join The Foreshadowing. We know each other since long time, even before the foundation of the band and I’ve always considered them as good friends, great musicians and composers. I felt honored when they asked me to become their drummer because I always loved their music! I think it’s the result of passion and sacrifice and I think we will create good vibes together." More...
Every week we have metal fans and musicians check in with their favorite mosh pit stories. Today guitarist/vocalist Chris Friesen of Ontario's Adrenechrome shares the following tale of a fight in the pit coming to an unexpectedly quick end:
While attending a CKY show in Toronto a good friend of mine ended up in a violent altercation with a fellow concert goer (something to do with a bumped girlfriend). Being quite drunk, the pair squared off in the middle of the pit to exchange fisticuffs. The first blow of the bout was scored by the angry boyfriend, a solid punch to my friends mid section.
The answer to the punch was a devastating finishing move a la Mortal Kombat, he proceeded to projectile vomit in an arc covering his assailant and the dozen or so other concert goers in the pit with digested beer and street meat, needless to say his opponent was unwilling to continue the fight resulting in a very rock 'n roll T.K.O.
Be sure to check back in next Tuesday are we share more metal mosh pit stories.

Additionally, the band has also reached out to pillars of the sub-sub-sub genre, with guest vocal contributions provided by Dave Verellen (Botch/NARROWS) and Tim Singer ( Deadguy/Kiss It Goodbye), adding another layer of icing to the metallic-hardcore-noise-rock-whatever-core cake we've baked.

Former Angra vocalist Andre Matos will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of his former band's first LP "Angels Cry" this year by performing the entire release on a upcoming 2013 tour this year in support of his latest solo album "The Turn of the Lights." Matos was with Angra from its inception in 1991 to 2000 when he left to form Shaman.
The press release reads as follows:
"2013 is a special year for Andre Matos. The vocalist, along with his solo band, will launch the promotion tour for his new album 'The Turn of the Lights' with an extra bonus for the fans: the band will play the album 'Angels Cry' in full.
"Released in 1993, 'Angels Cry' was Andre Matos' first album with Angra, just recently formed at the time. The vocalist, despite his young age, had already recorded two successful albums with the band Viper and studied classical piano, composition and conducting. Besides recording vocals and keyboards for all tracks, Andre Matos was the writer and arranger of nine out of ten tracks on the album, including 'Carry On,' which became a worldwide heavy metal hit. With his cutting edge combination of power and progressive metal, classical music rhythm and elements, 'Angels Cry' became a huge international success and placed the Brazilian band among the main power metal bands of their time." Uli Jon Roth has checked in with the following announcement about upcoming tour dates and other activity throughout the year:
"Greetings to all of you! I hope you had a great New Year. Here is a condensed list of some of the events that are planned for the first half of this year. 2013 is going to be a very busy and intensely productive year ahead, it seems.
"We will start off with a two-day Sky Academy in Los Angeles, at the Santa Monica Playhouse on January 21st and 22nd. This is a beautiful, intimate theatre, where we held one of the previous Sky Academies which we all have fond memories of. I'm looking forward to being there again!
"The next day I will take part in Jason Becker's 'Not Dead Yet' concert in San Francisco, together with my friends Steve Morse, Richie Kotzen, Gus G, and several other great players. Jason is an inspiration to all of us and I feel honored to be part of this worth-while cause.
"Following that, I shall be attending the Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California and will do a signing event for the Sky Guitar Limited Edition at the DEAN booth.
"At the end of January we are embarking on my extensive 40th Anniversary Tour of the US, which will take us all the way through February until the beginning of March. 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of my involvement with the SCORPIONS. The main theme of this tour will therefore be dedicated to performing my personal favorites from the five albums which I recorded with that great band.
"I have chosen about 30 songs in all from that era as the basis of our repertoire, several of which have never even been performed live by either the Scorpions or myself. We will be rotating a selection of these songs on the tour, varying our sets on a nightly basis, because we cannot possibly play all of them in one go. More...

Montreal's Endast has revealed a new video for the song "Martyr," taken off the 2011 album "Black Cloud." Check out the clip below.
The video was shot while Endast was stuck in a hotel room in Kamloops with a broken van and after having 3 guitars stolen midway on the coast-to-coast Canadian “The Elimination Tour.” While stranded, the band managed to come out of a the situation on top and eventually had all 3 guitars returned.
"When we got stranded in Kamloops on tour, we knew immediately that we had to be productive or the morale of the tour would suffer greatly. Endast is a band that isn't content unless we are working," commented singer Big James Arsenian. "The decision was made quickly to shoot a video, as we had the camera on hand already for tour vlogging. When the good people at Jagermeister refilled our booze supply while there, it just made sense to film the equivalent of an Endast staff party. The result is a fair representation of how we turn lemons into lemonade...and by lemonade, I mean a drunken night of debauchery in a hotel room." More...

Swedish death metal legends Hypocrisy just announced the cancellation of their upcoming Australian shows. The band commented:
"Hey to all our Australian fans, it’s with sad, angry and pissed mind that I’m trying to find words to write this.
"Oceanic Sharks Booking Agency Sydney – Australia hasn’t yet provided us with flights or working visa for this tour and we’re forced to leave next Monday 14th Jan. We have asked time after time after time, and even put up a deadline to deliver that, but he has failed to do so for 3 months now. It’s so close that it’s all too late now...
"We can’t even get into the country even if we had flight tickets, cause he didn’t fix working visa for us yet. I can only hope you get your money back for the tickets you bought, and that a real booker from Australia will invite us soon so we can finally go to your country.
"Not really a good start of a new year… Hope to see you soon!”
The upcoming new Hypocrisy studio album, scheduled for a late March release, will be titled "End Of Disclosure."

"Vertikal," the new studio album from Sweden’s Cult of Luna, will be released via Indie Recordings in Europe on January 25th, 2013 and Density Records in the U.S. on January 29th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Vertikal marks a much-anticipated return for Cult of Luna after five years spent cultivating the ideas and directing the influences that have helped form a concept for the album. Distilled throughout are themes of machinery, repetition and clear, linear structures honed to the visual imagery of Fritz Lang’s classic expressionist science-fiction film ‘Metropolis’. The music broods, builds and boils as you may expect from Cult of Luna, but never over-complicates itself or veers from its intentions; it is arguably their finest and most cohesive piece of work to date." "News: of the worst variety. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Dan Bloor as the drummer of Chaos Trigger.

"We've all loved being in a band with Dan and wish him every success in becoming the top nuclear physicist in the country and with being an amazing Dad when his little girl is born in a few weeks."

Ian Gillan has recently revealed a few working titles of songs, that might appear on the album: "Out Of Hands", "Uncommon Man" and "Hell to Pay".
Singer Ian Gillan commented: "The title of our new album is still a question mark to all of us... We have recorded a new album, and it's a fantastic collection of songs. At the moment that's the only affirmative point we can offer..."

There's a slew of new heavy metal bands popping up across the globe covering just about every imaginable sound, and plenty more appearing on the horizon. Thanks to easy access to digital tools and online methods of music distribution, the metal scene as a whole has an exploding population, and every year we try to keep up with the best new talent in our year-end “best of” awards.
To help get you acquainted with the best new metal out there, we’ll be briefly covering the bands nominated by our contributors for the “Best Newcomer” category of Metalunderground.com’s recent 2012 awards.
Writer OverkillExposure nominated the following acts for best newcomer of 2012: Western Massacre, Nothnegal, The River Neva, WrenchNeck, and Lahmia. You can also find yesterday's coverage of nominees at this location.
While hardly the first band to which the term “Death Groove” could be applied, this Western Massachusetts five-piece lives it to the hilt. The slamming debut “Freedom Through Violence” injects death metal’s darkness and brutality with Pantera’s irresistible rhythms and riffs, and lead guitarist Kyle Leary is one of the most formidable Dimebag successors you’ve never heard of – yet.
Edmonton thrash act Mortillery, featuring Cara McCutchen (Minax) on vocals, will release the band's sophomore LP "Origins of Extinction" on February 22, 2013 via Napalm Records. The album is the follow up to the debut "Murder Death Kill," originally issued in 2011 through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, which was reissued through Napalm in the summer of 2012 (see Metal Underground.com's review over at this location).
According to the press release: "[t]hrash Metal fans should fasten their seatbelt, as the universally praised debut 'Murder Death Kill' was merely the beginning and just the calm before the storm. Without a single warning, all hell breaks loose on the new album 'Origin of Extinction' and Mortillery leaves nothing but a path of destruction in their wake. Posers beware, because the band from Edmonton riffs through the new songs with a deadly precision. This is the powerful meeting point of aggression and melody! The drums give the songs a deadly groove by providing a hellish tempo. Vocalist Cara seems to have gargled with razor blades – rarely has one heard such brutal vocals! 'Origin of Extinction' is the album that elevates Mortillery from the status of an insiders’ tip to the next league of Thrash Metal!"
The track listing for "Origins of Extinction" is:
1. Battle March
2. No Way Out
3. Cease to Exist
4. Creature Possessor
5. Seen in Death
