Bent Sea Streaming Two Songs

Bent Sea, the grindcore project featuring Devin Townsend, Sven De Caluwe of Aborted and Dirk Verbeuren from Soilwork, is streaming two new songs on it's website. The two tracks, "A Common Affliction" and "Noistalgia," are part of the eleven-song debut EP Bent Sea has available on the website. It should be released via Tankcrimes Records in early 2012. Crystal Viper Completes Recording

Polish metal band Crystal Viper has completed recording of the band's fourth studio album entitled "Crimen Excepta." The album will be released on April 27, 2012 via AFM Records. The band posted the following update on its Official Facebook page:

"All tracks for the new CRYSTAL VIPER album 'Crimen Excepta' recorded... forged... and laid down... Now the album is being mixed... Are you ready?!"

Razor Fist Posts New Album Update

Wisconsin based speed metal band Razor Fist checked in with the following update on the band's forthcoming new release. In a post on the band's Facebook Page, the new album will be entitled "Outlaws With Bad Attitudes." The full post reads:

"Just a quick update the new RAZOR FIST album is in the mixing process as we speak. We are seeking someone to help us with the cover art. Any ideas, suggestions, etc.... get in touch. The title for the new album is "Outlaws With Bad Attitudes." Also we have a couple of shows coming up soooooooo let's RALLY ALL METAL FORCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The band's latest LP "Metal Minds" was released in 2009 through Pure Steel Records.

Purson Streaming Demo

British female-fronted occult rock band Purson, featuring the singing and guitar of Rosalie Cunningham, is streaming it's new four song demo as individual tracks. Below is a new recording of the song "Wool," plus you can stream the other three songs over on Purson's Soundcloud page. Purson will be playing it's next gig on January 9th with Gnod and Evil Blizzard over at Gulliver's in Manchester.

Thunderkraft Posts New Album Teaser

Ukrainian symphonic death/black metal act Thunderkraft has posted a teaser video for the band's sophomore effort "Totentanz," which is due out for release on March 12, 2012 through Blazing Productions.

"Totentanz" is described as "a sinister combination of classical Death Metal 'spiced' with modernized symphonically arranged Black Metal sounds. Pierce the infernal guitar trills with machine-gun fire bursts of the drums; add some industrial effects, real violins, flute and saxophone parts, and you'll get... 'Totentanz'!"

Trauma Reveals Details Of Seventh LP

Polish death metal band Trauma revealed the title and track listing for forthcoming seventh full length studio release. The album will be entitled "Karma Obscura" and will be released through Witching Hour Productions. That LP was recorded at Hertz Studio (Vader, Behemoth) in Bialystok, Poland in June/July 2011. The band will be working on mixing and mastering the album in the coming months. The Cover art will be designed by Mentalporn (Deathstars, Behemoth). No release date has yet been announced.

Serenity To Bring Female Vox For ProgPower USA

Austrian symphonic metal band Serenity revealed to Scott of Seeker of the Winterheart Blog that the band will bring a guest female vocalist for the performance at ProgPower USA in Atlanta on Friday, September 14, 2012.

The interview, seen in its entirety at this location, vocalist Georg Neuhauser kept the name of the guest vocalist a secret for now:

"SOTW: Here is a question that I have been dying to ask you since I first found out that Serenity would be playing at ProgPowerUSA. Will you be bringing any guest with you and if I may dare ask can you tell us who it will be?

"Georg: We will definitely have our female guest vocalist...but we’ll let you think about it ;)"

In other news revealed in the interview, the band are currently working on the follow up to the 2011 release "Death & Legacy":

"SOTW: Is Serenity working on a new album already or do you plan to tour longer on the Death and Legacy tour?

"Georg: Actually both! We’re currently working on a lot of new material for our 4th album, but we’re also focusing on our first European headlining tour! Both topics are exciting and take a lot of efforts, but we’re sure it’ll be a blast either ways!"

Former Incantation Bassist Dies At 42

Former Incantation bassist Joey "Fingers" Lombard died on January 3, 2012. He was 42 years old. Lombard played with Incantation from 2001-2005 and played on the following releases: "Blasphemy" (2002), "Decimate Christendom" (2004) and "Primordial Domination" (2006).

Former live Incantation bassist Roberto Lizárraga, who immediately stepped in when Lombard departed in 2005, posted the following statement, which the band re-posted on its Facebook Page:

"In 2003, while INCANTATION toured for the "Blasphemy" album, they played in San Diego and in Tijuana. INFINITUM OBSCURE played in the Tijuana gig. In this tour, I met this genuinely GREAT guy by the name of Joey Lombard, who was Incan's bassist at the time (2001-2006).

"In 2005 I was asked to step into INCANTATION as live session bassist, since Joey would not be able to commit for all the touring for the "Decimate Christendom" album, then "Primordial Domination".

"We also toured together in January 2005, I played bass for THE CHASM and he was still in INCANTATION. We shared a tour together. More...

Huntress Enters Studio To Record Debut

California power metal band Huntress began drum recordings at Sunset Lodge Recording Studio in Los Angeles today for the upcoming debut full length release. The album is expected in spring 2012 through Napalm Records. On December 27, 2011, the band released the first single "Eight Of Swords" through iTunes. A video for the song can be seen at this location.

The band is also part of the upcoming North American Paganfest 2012 tour with Turisas, Alestorm, Ex Deo and Arkona. For dates and venues, head over to this location.

Golden Sextion Signs With Logic(il)logic Records

Italian hard rock band Golden Sextion signed a recording deal with Logic(il)logic Records. The band will release its debut album entitled "The Silicon Age" in the spring 2012.

Logic(il)logic Records posted the following press release:

"Golden Sextion is an hard rock band founded in Modena [Italy] in 2007 by Faust and Loose: their aim is to create modern and sophisticated songs, trying to merge at best their influences to impress and to gain more and more fans!

The line-up stabilizes in 2009, and sees Fabio Dessi (Fabian) on vocals, Fausto Giovannini (Faust) on bass, Andrea Lusenti (Loose) on guitars and Gianvittorio Vandelli (Jean) on drums: the guys quickly obtain approval and support from a growing fan base, and decide together to enter the studio to record their first album, 'The Silicon Age'.

Kreator Enters Studio

German thrash giants Kreator have entered the studio to record the band's thirteenth full length studio album. The album is expected by summer 2012 and is the follow up to the 2009 release "Hordes of Chaos."

The band posted the following update on its Official Facebook Page:

"Kreator has entered the 'Studiomega' studios in Varberg (Sweden) to finally start the recordings for the new record coming mid 2012. As for now, the drums are set up and the first tracks are already recorded. Stay tuned for more stuff from from recording process."

In a recent interview conducted by the band's website team, frontman Mille spoke about the direction of the album: "The songs are coming along great and I think it's ok to say that this will be our most epic album so far. There's some classical, a lot of traditional metal and of course a huge dose of thrash metal influences in the new stuff. Everyone in the band is very excited at this point. The demos sound killer so far. We have about ten songs we're working on so far."

Throne Of Malediction Posts New Track

Montana metal act Throne of Malediction has posted a new track online titled "Syncretism VI," which is a collaboration with Victory By Fire label mates Black Salvation. The track will be included as a bonus on Throne of Malediction's upcoming second album and follow-up to the "Ceremonial Blood" release.

Black metal band Patronymicon has checked in with the following announcement about losing a member and continuing on as a three piece:

Archetype Issues Album For Download

Archetype recently released an eight song album, "Asylum," from which we have posted the video version of the title track below. This Mexico City death metal band is issuing it for download over on Mediafire. The music from "Asylum" was recorded in both Mexico and El Salvador. Archetype has been around since 2006, with a couple of EP's and another full-length to it's credit. You can stream a couple more tracks from "Asylum" over on Archetype's MySpace page.

Sunday Old School: Coroner

Many are under the misnomer that Coroner got it's start as Celtic Frost's roadies, but that's not entirely true. Coroner had been an established band a couple of years before they served as Celtic Frost's road crew on a U.S. tour. Coroner went on this tour of America as a way of promoting it's "Death Cult" demo in the U.S. back in 1986, and Tom G. Warrior even sang on it. When it came time to release their debut, "RIP," Tom once again offered to do vocal duties. By then, Coroner had bassist Ron "Royce" Broder assume the vocals as well. Ron had never sang before and even surprised himself with how well he rose to the occasion. More...
