Following their first ever trek through Brazil with Aborted, California goregrind ministers Exhumed will spray their blood overseas next month on the Grind Over Europe Tour 2012. Set to kick off on February 24th in Barcelona, Spain, the band will mercilessly tear through 16 cities. Speakers will blow, ears will bleed, villages will crumble. You have been warned. The band will be joined by label-mates Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: “We’re fully chuffed to have an opportunity to Grind Over Europe with a couple of our favorite bands: Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind! If you don’t like blastbeats, manic energy, beer, stage-diving, rhino charges, swinging thumbjumps or Scott Carlson bass grinds, do yourself a favor and stay the fuck home! This tour, in addition to being a screaming whirlwind holocaust, will single handedly bring the phrase ‘play fast or die!’ back en vogue. We’re psyched to get to hit a few countries for the first time on this tour, as well as dust off some old and particularly short, fast, and loud numbers for the set. Our very first tour in ‘97 was the Grind Over Europe II tour with Hemdale and Nyctophobic, so whoever said ‘you can’t go home again’ is obviously full of shit! Bring your studded vests, dreadlocks, Agathocles split EPs, and worn out old Napalm Death shirts on down to the show and let’s tear some shit apart! Cheers!”

Pain of Salvation has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitar player:
"We are proud to present the last piece of the puzzle for the upcoming tour line-up – the guitar player.
"First, a little background on the auditions. So, we had applications coming in from the whole world (including a few countries we had barely heard of) and it was a pretty massive task to go through them all and make our choices. From close to a hundred applicants we harshly narrowed it down to five guitar players being invited to our rehearsing room for auditions. One from Sweden, one from the UK, one from Iceland, one from Germany and one from France. These were the top-of-the-crop, and it’s quite telling that they were all lead singers in their respective past or present bands. It was hard to choose, especially between the top two guys. However, when the dust settled, it was to Iceland that we turned, and the magical Ragnar Zolberg. So, without further ado, here he is.
"We are certain that Ragnar will have everything that’s needed to kick your asses on the upcoming tour, and our first four days of rehearsals only strengthened that feeling. He is an excellent guitar player and an outstanding vocalist, and he knows how to make use of those abilities while rocking out on stage. On top of that he is an awesome person. What’s not to like?"
Zolberg also commented on joining the band:
"Holy ravens! what the f**k just happened!? My gratitude and excitement for the upcoming tour is far beyond words and I feel unbelievably privileged to be sharing the stage with one of my favorite bands.
"I’ve been going through the songs during the whole Christmas that I’m spending here in London, but the only guitar I had was my nephew’s guitar…..he’s 2 years old! Let’s just say that it’s a very small one but it sort of keeps in tune so it’s not all bad.
"I can’t wait to start rocking out to the music that we’ve all come to love so dearly and I will devote my whole heart to it!"
Killswitch Engage recently announced the band was parting ways with vocalist Howard Jones and seeking a replacement. Howard has now checked in with the following statement:
"Well, I guess I will shed a little light without going too deep. As some of you may know, I've had a pretty interesting couple of years to say the least battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and to be honest they are the ones that kept me going. The whole experience definitely put a scare in me.
"Recently we've all been in writing mode but somehow I couldn't get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight I now realize that my heart wasn't in it.
"I have had an amazing decade with KSE. I love Justin, MikeD, Joel and Adam for hanging in there and standing by me no matter how bad it was. I have so many good memories, and those are the ones that I will keep. Will I be involved in music again? Sure, I have been in bands for a little over half my life, can't stop now. Until then, get the new KsE album, it's going to be good. Thanks everyone for letting me try to entertain you, and I wish myself well in my future endeavors. Gone fishin' Howard"

"Viols" is the opening track taken off the band's upcoming debut self-titled album, which is set to drop on January 17th, 2012 through Little Black Cloud Records.
"I think of Gauchiste as setting a mood for an abstract form of storytelling, a kind of lighting or fog that proliferates throughout a room. It's more like horror meditations," says Tannon Penland (Loincloth), one-third of the trio Gauchiste.
"Gauchiste" was mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Scorn, Lotus Eaters) who has worked with such acts as Sunn O))), Earth, and Goslings.
Says Tannon, "The idea of Gauchiste came to be out of a shared love of oppressively heavy music and abstract minimalist forms that moved us to ask the question 'How can we play with and communicate sonically the otherness or peripheral spaces in these worlds, that which hovers above them and around them?' We all love metal in our own way. I imagine some will hear Gauchiste as an extension of black metal, but it isn't at all. Metal in general is only a very small part of the end result."
Download an MP3 of "Viols" here (right-click and "Save Target As")
The album's complete track listing is as follows:
2. When We Are Gone

Singapore grindcore act Wormrot has posted the following statement online about getting arrested in Malaysia by religious authorities:
"We had planned to chill at the hotel lobby. 6 people (5 smokers + 1 straight edge) in 1 room and no windows = Claustrophobic + Bad ventilation. Fiaz (Asilent’s bassist) came down to our room coz we had planned to chill with the Asilent boys as well. Suddenly, someone opened our door (Guess they have the hotel’s master card key) and asked 'Are you married?!' The minute Fit heard that question, he laughed and said 'No,' the bunch of people behind that person, started taking pictures of us!!! Talk about paparazzi… No they weren’t paparazzi.. They are from the JAIS - Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Selangor Islamic Religious Department). We were so shocked and lost for words coz we don’t think that we were doing anything wrong.
"After several questions and telling us that it is wrong for unmarried Muslim men and women to be in one room, they took our passports and we were taken to the police station to give our statements and call someone to bail us. Now.. now.. don’t blame the religion. Some people are just extremists and this Islamic rules only applied in Selangor and Kelantan. And of course only to the Muslim people. Please don’t stop visiting Malaysia because of this issue coz seriously it has a very good and dedicated Metal scene. Plus everything is cheap and you can find delicious food everywhere.
"Back to the main story… Only 5 of us were taken into custody. Arif, Rasyid, Fit, his girlfriend who is Arif’s little sister and myself. Rasyid’s girlfriend was not taken into custody coz she’s not Muslim and Fiaz was from another room. When we got out of the hotel to be escorted into the police lorry which already has some couples who were caught earlier than us, around 30 - 40 more people from JAIS, passerby and maybe some people from the media took pictures of us as though they had busted the most biggest crime for the night.
"We were taken to the Taman Muda Police Station and had to sit on the floor to wait for the organizer, Emi, to come and bail us out. Emi arrived at 4am and he had talked to one of the JAIS staff. At around 4.15am, we were taken to another police station as there was no high ranking officer to do up the reports. Again everyone had to be escorted into the lorry to be driven to Pandan Indah Police Station. However, when we arrived there, we were still held in the lorry as the high ranking staff from JAIS have not arrived. At around 5am, when they finally arrived, we thought that we will be taken into the police station for our statements. But… in the end… we were let off with just a warning. We were nearly fined $3000 MYR ($950 USD) per person if Emi did not call his lawyer up and we being Singaporeans. Plus we weren’t doing any sexual intercourse when they entered our room. More...

HDK guitarist Sander Gommans (After Forever/Trllium/Kiske-Sommerville/Ex-MaYaN) posted an update on the forthcoming sophomore effort from Dutch band HDK. The album is the follow up to the 2009 release "System Overload."
The update reads as follows:
"As promised a little update about the follow up of HDK: System Overload. Nearly all the keyboard parts are finished, they just have to be fine tuned a bit for the actual album. It's very cool to work with two keyboard players this time (Uri Dijk and Erik van Ittersum) since they both give a unique input to the songs.
"Koen Herfst is working out the drum parts at the moment, they will kick some serious ass! Tomorrow I´ll visit Geert Kroes to check new vocal parts, they will be recorded under the supervision of Amanda Somerville (Trillium, AVANTASIA) as soon as we can find some time in our schedule. As I mentioned before, I´m a busy man, but there´s been a lot of progress!
"System Overload was full of agression and experiments, this album will be a return to the After Forever sound with more heavy elements-more guitar oriented. The songwriting I did for After Forever, HDK, Trillium and various other projects have led to this record, and I really excited about the input of the awesome musicians I´m working with this time.
"I´ll be posting some previews the upcoming months and I´ll keep you updated.
"Thanks for supporting me even though I´ve been out of the picture when it comes to playing live....really appreciate that! Thanks to you, musicians like me who prefere writing and teaching music, can still release an album once in a while."
