Pythia Issues End Of Year Recap

Pythia has issued the following recap of the past year and update about the band's activity:

"Hello friends and fellow Pythians! First of all a very happy New Year to you all, and here's hoping you have recovered from your individual Feasts of Fools that no doubt has left you reeling….

"This year is set to be a belter, so I urge, nay, beg you to keep your eyes on the band's information portals, because news will be coming in thick and fast, almost so quick that we us information officers at PYTHIA HQ are working flat out just now preparing for February's long awaited release of the new album… More on that shortly.

"To aid the minions at PYTHIA's Ministry of Information, the band has commissioned an app for iPhone which is available for download from the App Store. All news, dates, merch store as well as access to our Twitter and Face Book feeds and pretty much access to PYTHIA's digital realm in one place. Bang on.

"We are also pleased and proud to announce that the track 'Just A Lie' will soon be available to download on the Rock Band. The developers are completing BETA testing and we all agree that this should be a challenge to the most nimble fingered widdlers and talented vocalists…. If you think the game is hard, pity the poor chaps in the band who have to do this nightly! Keep an eye on www.rockband.com/international for official release on Thursday.

"The video for 'Betray My Heart' has gone great guns on YouTube thanks to you all, seeing a great response as soon as it went live. The single was very well received which pleased us greatly, as we know that you will all love the album seeing as you enjoyed the 'appetizer' so much!

"So we are finally near the big day… There are lots of exciting plans being batted around the PYTHIA chambers at the moment; we will let you know more as these ideas get a little more set in stone… For now our lips are sealed. On that note, we will leave you all to the rest of your recovery. Look forward to seeing you at one of our shows real soon."

Narrator Behind Iron Maiden Intro Passes Away

Barry Clayton, the London actor/narrator and man behind the iconic intro to the Iron Maiden song "Number of the Beast," has passed away at the age of 80 due to causes unknown at this time. His deep baritone voice became indelibly etched into several radio shows and movie trailers, and Clayton was also known for his role in black television and radio. He produced the pioneering radio show "Black Londoners" from 1974-88 and also narrated the children's show "Count Duckula." His sinister intro on the Iron Maiden song is something almost every metalhead knows by heart:

"Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who have understanding
Reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty six."

Clayton had lived the past 40 years in the Greater London suburb on Islington. More...

Seven Ends Signs To Massacre Records

Netherlands based act Seven Ends has inked a deal with Massacre Records for the release of the "To The Worms" album. The record label issued the following statement:

"Seven Ends from Limburg, Netherlands, was formed in the darker months of 2007 by guitarist Ricardo, vocalist Jan and drummer Cor. Soon Noud joined the band, bringing thunder with his bass, together with Tim on guitar completing the band. Tim's presence was not very long, after about a year he was replaced by Leon.

"Seven Ends' musical style can be described as furious thrash/death metal. Speed and aggressiveness are the main ingredients, all flavored with a hint of melody and a grooving touch to it.

"Their first EP was recorded in 2008 and it was time to hit the stage. Reactions to EP and live performance were overwhelming from the start. Seven Ends played live with bands such Legion of the Damned and Torture Squad, and in summer 2010 they got their chance at the legendary Wacken Open Air in Germany after winning the Dutch Wacken Metal Battle, among the greatest names around in metal and rock.

"In 2011 Seven Ends finished recording their first full length album, mixed and mastered by no other than Andy Classen (Legion Of The Damned, Belphegor, Tankard)."

The "To The Worms" album is scheduled to be released on March 23rd, 2012 via Massacre Records.
