Pit Stories: The Crowd Takeover

Every week we chat up bands from around the globe to find their favorite stories from metal shows. This week, bassist Morgan Rider of Canadian act Vesperia had this tale to share about the crowd taking over the stage during a Dimebag tribute:

We were doing a show in Ottawa a couple of years ago and it happened to be a Pantera / Dimebag tribute show. We knew about this show a while in advance, so we came up with a folk metal version of "Fucking Hostile."

During our set, the time came for us to play the song, so we invited some people to come up and sing it with us. Two seconds later, half of the crowd is on the stage, forcing all of us except our drummer at the time off of the stage and onto the floor. We played the song on the floor and the crowd moshed and rocked out on stage. It was really weird.

Vesperia recruited a new guitarist late last year and is currently in the process of recording a new album. Follow the latest recording updates and listen to the band's music at Facebook here.

Check back in again next Tuesday for the latest heavy metal Pit Stories from local and national bands. More...

Rise With Honour Splits With Drummer

Drummer Andrew Beattie of Rise With Honour has checked in with the following statement about parting ways with the band:

"I would like to inform everyone that I (Andrew Beattie) have now left the band. There were no arguments or differences between any of us it was just mainly the fact I can't commit to such a project with me now living in Dundee and having to focus more primarily on University. The leaving of the band was on my own accord as much as I hated having to do so.

"These past almost 2 years in the band has been amazing meeting a load of new people and making friendships. I wish all the best to the guys and know that we will still remain on great terms and who knows what the future holds for the both of us.

"I will still continue to play drums and I hope everyone has enjoyed what I have been able to contribute across the time in the band." More...

Century Media Announces License Deal With Earache

Century Meida has announced a brand new licensing arrangement with Earache Records that will see Century Media license Earache's physical catalog of CD's & LP's in the USA. Earache's digital distribution of its back catalog and new releases remains in-house and unchanged.

This license deal between two of the metal world's powerhouse labels will pave the way for the physical versions of all future releases and titles from Earache's classic back catalog to be released as an array of collectible LPs and CD box sets. With Century Media's team of catalog specialists, fans can expect an exciting variety of collectibles to be released on the U.S. market in the near future.

Earache's U.S. label boss Al Dawson says, "I am over the moon with our new arrangement with Century Media. Both Earache Records founder Digby Pearson and myself have known Century Media owners Oliver and Robert for 20+ years and I couldn't think of a better team of people to be working with moving forward. Earache has always been a progressive minded label. From being one of the first independent labels to having our own website back in the early 90's and to being one of the first labels to work directly with iTunes and doing business with Spotify since day 1 in Europe."

Century Media North American President Don Robertson states, "It's exciting times in the world of metal and I am ecstatic to welcome aboard Earache to The Century Media Family in our time of growth. Being able to dive into the catalog of records that so many of us grew up with and being able to re-release cool limited editions will be a lot of fun and we are particularly excited to be working with and continuing to build future releases from artists such as Rival Sons, Oceano and The Browning."
