"The tour has been the best one so far I think. Every country and show has been packed and full of energy. Our first time in Stockholm was incredible. We have one Norwegian show left in Bergen tonight before we return to the UK, which is basically our second home - can't wait!! Get ready, we're coming full force!"
Thyrfing have announced they will not be appearing at the Metalfest Open Air festivals in Germany and Austria, as was previously reported. The statement from the band is as follows:
"This is an official statement from Thyrfing regarding some gigs that have been announced (e.g. Metalfest Open Airs in Germany & Austria). Obviously there has been a misunderstanding between promoters and local arrangers confirming these shows. We were in negotiation about them, but had to withdraw and turn down the offers for various reasons. We never confirmed these shows, but obviously they were announced anyway. This is of course very unfortunate, and we are sorry about any inconvenience it might have caused, but also it's something that is totally beyond our control."

Phoenix, Arizona's LANDMINE MARATHON has unveiled the cover art of their forthcoming record "Sovereign Descent," which is due out March 16, 2010 on PROSTHETIC RECORDS. The cover art was handled by acclaimed artist Dan Seagrave who's done artwork for acts such as Entombed, Dismember, Morbid Angel, and Suffocation.

Finnish gothic metal band POISONBLACK, featuring ex-Sentenced vocalist Ville Laihiala, will be releasing their fourth studio album “Of Rust And Bones.” The album will be available ONLINE only through stores like iTunes and Amazon mp3. The cover art and booklet artwork was created by Teemu Hostikka / www.ntrnz.com and can be seen at this location.
The band comments on recording the new album with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, “The main goal was, while recording, to have nothing more or less than 2 guitars, drums, bass and keyboards with vocals on top. Basically, record how we sound as a band. A lot of music was recorded 'live' with everyone playing the song instead of Tarmo playing drums with only one guitar and a click track. A couple of songs were played totally naked. It’s amazing how you really get into your instrument and the song when you don’t have any clothes on... Hiili also played a big part in getting us in the right mood for each song. Lyrically the album is dealing with the uncontrollable craving for alcohol and boredom, frustration, hate, love and the fact that eventually everything will go down the drain."
Dutch death metal band SEVERE TORTURE has announced their signing to Season of Mist. Bassist Patrick comments: "We are very excited about signing to Season of Mist! They have an amazing bandroster and we can't wait to release our new album on the same label as Dillinger Escape Plan, Cynic, Morbid Angel, Watain and many others. We already had our share of label experience in the past, some good, some bad, and we have the feeling that working with Season of Mist is going to be a big step up for us! Merci beaucoup, motherfuckers!"
SEVERE TORTURE is currently in Split Second Sound Studios in Amsterdam with producer Jochem Jacobs, hard at work on their upcoming fifth album. You can find some videos of the recording sessions on the band's YouTube channel.
Ashland, Kentucky based rockers HYDROGYN have announced a new line up for their next phase of albums and touring. A unique element in the band's evolving sound includes one of the world's few master 6-string fretless bassists, Jake Wolf.
Following a recent interview on Jeff's weekly JFL radio show, Westake & The Pig, the possibility of David Ellefson (Angels of Babylon, Hail, ex-Megadeth) adding some bass work on the album was raised. "It would be an awesome treat for the fans if we can all find time to get that classic duo of Ellefson and Young back together on a song or two!" More...

Weedeater has issued the following update about upcoming tour plans after their vocalist has recovered from shooting off his own toe:
"Hey there, here's a quick update...Dixie is still resting his foot and only drinking half as much bourbon as usual so that he is healed in time for Weedater's hobbled yet glorious return to the live arena. Below are the tour dates; we'll have ticket links for you soon so keep checking back for updates. We will be playing new material from our upcoming release 'Jason...The Dragon', to be recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in late April. Much thanks to master Steve for letting a bunch of crazy, dirty, toeless, gun-toting hillbillies back into his pristine studio so we can scuff-up the floor and bang a bunch of his pots & pans together so as to call it 'music.'
"That took some class (more than we have anyway) and in all seriousness we are truly appreciative for Steve and everyone else at EA being so cool about rescheduling this session. The support bands on this US tour are all incredible and include: Black Cobra, ASG, Black Tusk, The Gates of Slumber, US Christmas, and Struck by Lightning. During the Tone Deaf SXSW showcase in Austin, the mighty Rwake will also make a rare appearance joining the party for one absolutely insane night of music. We'll have more updates shortly on the summer tour / fests in Europe as well as the tentative release date for 'Jason...,' so you'll be hearing back from us soon enough. See you out there, don't step on Dixie's foot, and of course, thanks to all of you for your continued support!"
