U.K. stoner doom band Groan have signed with Soulseller Records and are recording their second album "The Divine Right of Kings." Groan vocalist Mazzereth has issued the following statement: “If the apocalypse happens in 2012 we hope that our next album, 'The Divine Right of Kings,' can be the soundtrack to people drinking, dancing and pumping their fists into oblivion. We plan to play more live gigs this year and take over Europe. Who better to make this unholy pact with than Soulseller Records?” Groan is currently streaming tracks from it's previous release, "The Sleeping Wizard," over on Reverbnation, plus you may check out a video upload of the title track from that 2010 release below.
Omaha, Nebraska five piece death metal outfit Byleth has posted a music video online for "The Plot To Bury Myself." Check out the new video clip below, or head over to the Byleth Facebook profile here to listen to more music from the band.

Southern California's vaunted heavy metal Triple Axe Attack, Leatherwolf, has scheduled a headline show at the Ramona Mainstage, 626 Main Street, Ramona, CA for tonight (January 28th) where the band will be filming for an upcoming live DVD.
Featuring original members Michael Olivieri (vocals, guitar), Carey Howe (guitar), and Dean Roberts (drums), along with bassist Patrick Guyton and new guitarist Rob Math, Leatherwolf is celebrating both the band's 30th anniversary as well as the 25th anniversary of the major label debut album for Island Records which spawned the MTV single "The Calling."
"We had originally planned to release the 'Live at the Galaxy' DVD but with Rob in the fold we've decided to re-shoot everything. Rob is a killer player who has brought a lot of new energy to the band and we wanted to capture the new and improved LEATHERWOLF for prosperity." states drummer Dean Roberts. "We've already talked to Roy Z (HALFORD, BRUCE DICKINSON) about mixing and should have everything completed in another couple of months in time for a tentative summer release."
Phoenix, AZ based act Virulent is set to being recording the band's first full-length 12 track album titled "The Great Destroyer." The album is currently slated for release in the summer of 2012.
Virulent can also be heard regularly on 98 KUPD's Into The Pit with Marcus Meng, an exclusively metal show aired on Sunday nights in Phoenix, AZ and on 98KUPD.com.

"Feed The Extermination," the fourth album from German thrash metal veterans Vendetta, is set for North American release on January 31st. Massacre Records commented on the band:
"Founded in 1987, VENDETTA has become one of the most prolific and recognized contemporary thrash acts within their German homeland over three incredibly well-received albums, massive headlining tours, countless live and festival appearances and praise from all corners of the planet from media and fans alike.
"Their first release for Massacre Records, Feed The Extermination incorporates more aggressive and progressive elements than previous albums, while slickly retaining the expected VENDETTA approach. Brazilian independent hard rock/heavy metal act Perverse has posted all the songs online from the band's debut album, titled "Too Much Is Never Enough."
Crypticus has posted two songs online from the band's split release with Scaremaker. Check out the songs "Beauty & Deceased" and "End the World of Men" in the BandCamp player available below. The split is also available for order now through Selfmadegod Records here.

The first annual Stand Together Fest, presented by Blood & Ink Records and F!GHT Clothing, will be held on April 13th and 14th, 2012 at Rocketown in Nashville, Tennessee. Scheduled to perform are Zao, Saints Never Surrender (reunion), Flatfoot 56, Venia, As Hell Retreats, Debtor, and more (full line-up below). The following press release was issued about the festival:
"STAND TOGETHER FEST was launched with the hopes of bringing fans of Spirit-filled hardcore and metal together for one awesome, weekend-long event... without needing to break the bank in order to attend. Featuring bands from a number of notable labels, including Ferret Music, Paper + Plastick, Ain't No Grave Records, Facedown Records, Mediaskare Records, Red Cord Records, and of course Blood & Ink Records, the line-up offers a diverse glimpse into this scene's best current offerings. Red Seas Fire has posted a guitar playthrough video clip for the song "Skye," which can be viewed below. The band commented on the clip:
"Here is our guitarist PeteyG playing through his parts of the track Skye. The guitar used is a Mayones Regius 8 string custom loaded with Bare Knuckle Pickups (Rebel Yell bridge, VHII Neck). The audio for this was recorded using an Axe FX Ultra channelled directly into Logic 9."
Richmond, VA's Vice Or Virtue has posted the following announcement online about offering the "Reclamation" demo as a free download:

Dutch symphonic metal band Epica has posted part two of promotional videos for the upcoming release "Requiem for the Indifferent," which is due out on March 9, 2012 through Nuclear Blast. Each week leading up to the album's release, the band will post a video with a "layer of music." The second part features the bass layer for the opening track "Monopoly On Truth."

Croatia's (drama) has announced the "Zastor Tisine" album (reviewed here), will see its official release by French label Altsphere Productions on February 24th, 2012. The official distribution will be handled by CODE7 via Plastichead for the U.K. and Ireland, Altsphere for France, and Twilight for the rest of the world.
(drama) has also announced that the band is currently writing the material for a follow-up album, with recording to take place next year. The band will also be hosting a radio show on Metal Express Radio called Guest DJ Hour on February 24th. In the show (drama) will play 10 songs from 10 separate bands that had influence on the band's music.

Spanish power metal band Skydancer posted a new music video for the song "Winter's Hideout." The song will appear on the bands forthcoming third LP "Winterkiller," which is scheduled to be released in January 31, 2012.

Finland's Amorphis has checked in with the following announcement about playing the upcoming Sonisphere festival in Helsinki:
"Amorphis are confirmed for the Finnish Sonisphere Festival 2012 in Helsinki (Kalasatama) on Monday, June 4th.
"The one-day festival is headlined by Metallica, which will play their legendary 'Metallica' a.k.a. The Black album in its entirety, among other songs. Other confirmed acts are Machine Head, Gojira and Ghost.

Following a rather hectic couple of days on the Spinefeast boat, I was lucky to be able to be alive enough to attend a rather unique show the following Friday.
