We Are The Fallen Readies First Single and Tour

Universal Republic Records' We Are The Fallen will unleash their first single, "Bury Me Alive," exclusively via the digital domain on February 2nd. The fivesome is comprised of the original members of multiplatinum band Evanescence, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt along with drummer Rocky Gray, joined by American Idol finalist Carly Smithson on vocals. Acclaimed bassist Marty O’Brien (Disturbed and Static-X, among others) rounds out We Are The Fallen.

The group is already preparing to give fans a live taste of the reportoire fueling their upcoming Universal Republic debut album, due out later in the year - hitting the road in support of Finnish rock stalwarts H.I.M. The extensive, 28 city tour launches in Philadelphia, PA, on March 27th, hurtling through multiple major cities such as Boston, MA, on March 28th, Cleveland, OH, on April 1st, Chicago IL, on April 9th, Los Angeles, CA, on April 23rd, and winding down in New York City on May 7th.

Guitarist Ben Moody has been publicly crediting the group's unique chemistry as the driving force behind We Are The Fallen, describing Carly Smithson's role as a "true partner," and a key component to We Are The Fallen's overall sound. Moody left the platinum-plus breakthrough rock act Evanesence in 2003, and has since co-written major hits for Chris Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson among others. Evanescence’s groundbreaking 2003 album, "Fallen," spent 43 weeks on the Billboard Top Ten Albums Chart, selling 15 million copies worldwide, and 7 million + albums in the U.S. alone.

For Smithson, We Are The Fallen completes her dream - after exiting American Idol - of becoming a creative force in a "vital" band environment. Carly Smithson was a sixth place finisher during Season 7 of the television series American Idol.

Neaera Working On New Material

German metallers Neaera have issued the following statement about working on new material:

"Hey folks, tomorrow we´re gonna embark on a small 4-show tour of Italy. We've always had great times in Italy, and we´re really psyched to return and party with our friends! In addition, a bunch of new shows have been confirmed, please check the 'shows' section to see if we´re playing anywhere near you.

"What else is going on in the Neaera camp? Of course, we´re constantly working on new material! Hopefully you guys will be pleased to hear that at this point we have no less than five new tunes ready, and we´re planning to hit the studio as soon as we hit the eleven song threshold. As it looks and sounds right now, the material will have somewhat of a 'back to the roots' feel to it as far as Neaera is concerned, meaning that the emphasis will be more on epic melodies without neglecting the right amount of brutality. As always, we will keep you posted about any new developments."

Neaera's upcoming tour dates are as follows:

1/30 2010 blogos Bologna (IT)

Lamb of God Drummer Discusses Grammy Nomination

In a recent interview with MetalSucks, LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler discusses his band's recent Grammy nomination, touring with Metallica, not letting all the success go to his head, and how the band keeps things fresh and vital. An excerpt follows:

"Are you even planning to attend the ceremony, or do you watch it from home, or do you just not watch at all?

"Last time we did, all of us attended except for Randy [Blythe, vocalist]. He had his own little personal boycott of it in the same vein that we’re talking about – thinking that it’s kind of a joke. This time, I think three of us are attending. Mark [Morton, guitarist] and Randy are staying at home. Randy, out of some personal protest, is not attending. I did attend the first time, and I am attending this time. It’s not that I’m going and thinking that we’re going to win. In fact, I’m fairly certain that we’re not. I think that there are several bands on the list that definitely deserve to win. For me, the after-parties and the show itself are just crazy. It’s so out of my world. I’m just this kid from Virginia that grew up listening to metal. Last time I went to the Grammys, I ended up at a party with “Weird Al” Yankovic and Smokey Robinson. Paris Hilton was there, Dave Grohl was there, and I’m looking around like, “How the fuck did I get in here?” [laughs]

"Do they seat you with the other metal nominees so at least you’re close to the Slayer dudes and the Megadeth dudes and some of the guys you know?

"Yeah. Well, the last time they did. We all kind of sat together and jeered each other on. At this point, we all know each other fairly well. It’s a pretty cool little community there."

Bandleader Chrigel Glanzmann comments, "Here comes the second song off our upcoming album we'd like to present you: 'Kingdom come undone!' One of our harsher tracks, where juggernautish riffs meet with onrushing folk melodies. And exactly the same furious character also lies in the lyrics. The song deals with Vercingetorix, a Gaulish freedom fighter who lived in the time of the Gaulish war. His endeavor was to unite the Gaulish clans. The song presents you a passionate speech, like he probably could have held it in front of assembled Gaulish chieftains.
In that sense: This is V... for Vercingetorix!" More...
