"We decided to record everything all natural this time, so there are no drum triggers or direct signals. We don't wanted a lifeless Metal production, we wanted something original and alive... and we got what we wanted in the end.
"With our new singer Nico (former THE OCEAN singer) we found a perfect match to the sound we were going for. He covers so much more ranges than the stereotype low grunts and high pitched screams, which was really important to us. Lyrically he and Simon teamed up to get the best out of their vision. More...

So much for being an old metal maverick, like myself! Sheeeesh! More...

British rock legends Thunder has posted the following message online:
"As we enter Thunder's 20th anniversary year, we've found ourselves becoming increasingly busy with our various activities outside of the band, and we've come to the conclusion that there are simply not enough hours in the day to fit it all in. Having discussed it at length, we've decided that this is a fitting time for us to hitch up our wagons and ride into the sunset. We've therefore decided to give you advance notice that we intend to cease all recording and touring activity, as of the summer of 2009.
"In practical terms, this means that we will cease to be a band as of the summer, but until then it will be more or less business as usual. The 2008 Xmas Show CDs will be released as promised, and the previously announced shows in Europe (February) and Japan (April) will go ahead as planned. We will use these shows, as well as any festival slots we can secure, to make the most of the time left, and say our goodbyes to you.
"With that in mind, despite only touring a couple of months ago, we couldn't make our exit without saying goodbye to UK fans, so we've arranged a final UK tour, which will take place in early July. The dates are as follows:- More...

BAD BRAINS has announced that it is in the final stages of production for its acclaimed documentary. No release date has been set yet.
The yet-untitled film was directed by Mandy Stein and Ben Logan and traces the history of the band from their formation in Washington, D.C. in 1979 to the present day. In addition to tons of footage from the band’s vault, the movie includes interviews with all four members (vocalist HR, guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer and drummer Earl Hudson) and their manager Anthony Countey, as well as testimonials from Henry Rollins, ex-Minor Threat and Fugazi vocalist Ian MacKaye, ex-Minor Threat guitarist Lyle Preslar, ex-Cro Mags vocalist Jon Joseph and guitarist Harley Flanagan, Murphys Law guitarist Jimmy Gestapo and Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, who produced Bad Brains 2007 album Build a Nation.
In addition to giving birth to the hardcore movement with their song “Pay to Cum” and inspiring all of the aforementioned musicians in the process, the Bad Brains had a huge influence on a new breed of late ‘80 and early ’90s metal bands, including Living Colour, Faith No More, 24-7 Spyz and Fishbone. While the Bad Brains flick is currently in post-production, it will be ready for release in a Jamaican minute. More...
The album artwork for Believer's upcoming album "Gabriel" can be viewed on the Metal Blade MySpace Page. Metal Blade also issued the following update about the album:
"Pennsylvania based thrashers BELIEVER has just released the track listing and artwork for the highly anticipated release Gabriel, which will be the band's Cesspool Recordings /Metal Blade Records debut (Cesspool is Howard Jones' [Killswitch Engage] imprint label through Metal Blade). Gabriel will be available everywhere March 17th, 2009.
"The artwork for Gabriel was born from the talents of Michael Rosner (Roz) and Eye Level Studios. Working with Roz and the Eye Level team has been nothing short of amazing. The talent of these individuals is staggering and we found ourselves residing in the same crazy, pancake eating, warped dimension when it came to visual concepts. We tossed many ideas around with Roz but the main focus was to have the artwork compliment the music and vice-versa. Gabriel has been an artistic collaboration on many levels and the finished product truly highlights the incredible talents of Roz and the Eye Level team. We're not finished yet, so stay tuned for more Believer/Eye Level madness."
Gabriel track listing:
2. A Moment In Prime
5. History Of Decline
6. The Need For Conflict
7. Focused Lethality
8. Shut Out The Sun
9. The Brave
10. Nonsense Mediated Decay
Belgian dark metal act Axamenta has issued the following statement about calling it a day:
"This would be a perfect opportunity to attempt an eloquent effort, which could sound something along the lines of: In the bleak wintersun of 2009 the shroud falls over the vague and dark contours of what once was Axamenta
"But as above pompous jabbering usually makes us cringe, let us stick to the cold scientific facts:
"AXAMENTA minus 1 SINGER minus BLACK METAL = NEW BAND + 2 NEW BANDMEMBERS + INTERESTING NEW STYLE + BOOZE + POWERTOOLS
"If BLACK METAL = NO BLING Then AXAMENTA = NEW BAND + BLING => NEW BAND = SOLID GOLDEN RIMS FOR OUR HUMMERZ => AXAMENTA = RIP
"An update with more information about the new band itself, the band name, logo, line-up, teaser and website are due Mid February."

"Well, I'm pleased to announce that CARCASS is gonna settle it's unresolved scores in the U.S.! There was some slight whimpers of discontent that we didn't hit some cities such as Chicago and Denver last time round - places that were always hot spots of enthusiasm for us. So we're coming back in March to finish off our unsettled business! We seemed to have had a profound influence on your economy and gas prices have gotten cheaper haha! That's doesn't mean we’re not gonna come through and provide some value for your buck with some old (and new) school friends and comrades such as SUFFOCATION, SAMAEL, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EXODUS, SUICIDE SILENCE etc. - check out locally as for who is on the bill where! And hey, I couldn't think of anywhere better to be on my 40th birthday than the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We promise this will be the last time we darken your shores (I said that with my fingers crossed behind my back)!"
