39 news articles posted on this day.
Motor City death metal act As They Sleep has uploaded a video blog chronicling the band’s West Coast romp on the "Solid State Records: A Very Metal Christmas Tour" last month. You can check out the video clip below.
Steelwing has posted a series of photos online from the band's tour dates in Spain and Italy, which can be viewed at this location. The band also commented:
"Hola metaleros! We decided to do like regular feather-winged creatures and head south for the winter, and I must say it's been very nice with some sun and a milder climate, even though the nights have been freezing cold still.
"This venture included our first three shows in Spain, another country we'd love to play in again, as well as our return to Italy after the good times we had there last year (and again, we had a blast!)."
Denmark based death metal act Undergang previously released "Indhentet af Doden" on Vinyl in 2010. Undergang has now announced the album will see a CD release on February 15th, 2011 via Xtreem Music. The label commented on the release:
"Indhentet af Doden, which has already been circulating through the underground for over a year now, has got nothing but praises everywhere, being acclaimed as one of the heaviest (if not the heaviest) bands in the whole European Death Metal scene and who knows if in the rest too! Undergang's music is devoted to the most dense and heavy death metal that reminds to the good old days when bands like Rottrevore, Mythic, very early Grave, Crematory (swe), early Autopsy, early Incantation, Mortician and the likes, were setting the limits for the heaviest music ever made."
You can also check out tracks from the album via the band's MySpace page.
This week a look back at what if certain break-ups, decisions, or meetings didn’t happen and how it would have turned out for the parties involved.
WHAT IF VAN HALEN DOESN’T SPLIT?
David Lee Roth stays with the VH brothers and continues touring to support the 1984 album. Eventually Roth loses his voice for a very long time, but this doesn’t stop Eddie and Alex from making their next album, an instrumental only record, titled: 1986. Despite Roth’s voice gone, they still tour (with DLR only doing karate kicks on stage) and for two years sell out arenas worldwide. Eventually, their popularity dies down with the ill-advised 1990 album titled: Still Runnin’ With The Devil. As for Sammy Hagar? Without VH in his way he focuses on his tequila, eventually forming a strong partnership with a leading brand and goes on to make billions with Jose Haggar… More...
Bloody-Disgusting.com is currently hosting an exclusive premiere of the track "Fracture" from Clandestine's debut album "The Invalid." The album will be out on February 15th through Nightmare Records. Guitarist Dan Durakovich said the following about the song:
"What's up Bloody Disgusting? 'Fracture' is one of our favorite songs to play so we're happy to give you and your readers the chance to check it out first."
Adult Swim has teamed up with Gibson Guitar to create a Deathklok "Thunderhorse" Explorer, the band’s new signature guitar. Adult Swim issued the following statement about the new guitar:
"That’s right: a real guitar. Gibson craftsmen collaborated with series co-creator – not to mention Berklee College of Music grad and Billboard chart-topping musician – Brendon Small to come up with the design of the limited-edition product that was unveiled to industry insiders at last week’s NAMM 2011 show in Anaheim, Calif.
"Available beginning next month at Gibson Guitar dealers throughout the U.S., the Dethklok 'Thunderhorse' Explorer is a top-flight metal guitar patterned after the animated band’s lead guitarist, Skwisgaar Skwigelf’s weapon of choice. It features a gloss Silverburst finish with cream top and fingerboard binding. It is equipped with Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 pickups and is decked out with chrome hardware. The limited-edition guitar will be available for a suggested retail price of $2699."
Show creator Brendon Small also commented: "Though our show is a crazy comedy, we managed to target a very large guitar playing audience. I think that’s because despite all the joking I do on the show, I take the guitar playing and the way the guitar is presented on the show quite seriously! It may be the only thing I take seriously! Well, I take chocolate seriously too. Anyway, it's great to see the fans responding to the guitar and the music through buying CD and guitar tab books! But I have to say I never knew I'd be lucky enough to design a Gibson Explorer!! This Silverburst is amazing. It sounds beautiful and I've been putting it through the tests on my solo record and it sounds absolutely beautiful! I am officially the luckiest man alive!"
Mammoth Lakes, California based blackened death horde Valdur, which released the "Raven God Amongst Us" full-length this past summer, has now announced two upcoming live shows. The first will happen this coming Friday at The Blvd. in Boyle Heights, California. The second will be an appearance on the Oakland Black/Death Fest at the Metro Operhouse on Saturday, March 12th. The band will be joined by Dispirit, Necrite, and Mutilation Rites among others.
Commented drummer Sxuperion on the live shows and upcoming new tunes: "We always look forward to the live event, as we very much appreciate and respect the energy and effort that is required to provide Valdur's music immediately! Otherwise, Valdur has basically kept our determination focused upon the writing of many new songs that will see themselves appear on a new full-length release. We are buried in ten to 20 feet of snow in town which is very conducive to writing and creating. The new songs are faster and more intense than anything that Valdur has released thus far. This new full-length will be finished and out when we say so."
The details are as follows:
1/28/2011 The Blvd. - Boyle Heights, CA
3/12/2011 The Oakland Black/Death Fest @ The Metro Opera House - Oakland, CA

"Recently, we've been repeatedly faced with a question 'What's the concept/theme of the upcoming record?' It's a tough one, but we've decided to give some insight.....
"Dig deep into yourself. Beyond the objective reasoning, and pass the underlying subconsciousness. Examine the architecture of the place where your dreams, hopes and fears are born. Face the shadows roaming through the vast space where everything is possible. The new record is all about rage, power, lust and sins. It is a time bomb that can't wait to explode."
Germany's Desaster has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's upcoming Mexican show due to drummer Stefan "Tormentor" Hüskens being hospitalized:

Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström has issued the following statement about the release:
"For Sabaton’s second release, we decided once again to work with Tommy Tägtgren. This time we came more prepared and knew more of the sound we were looking for. We were in a rush since we were going on a big European tour right after the recordings - and it was really right after. We left the studio with the final master only one hour before departing to the airport! For the bonus material, we chose two of the cover tracks we had already done. We were asked by our old friend (and booking agent for Europe) if we wanted to participate on his tribute album to Doro. Of course we wanted to, and we wanted to do a song which nobody would expect us to do, so we made ‘Für Immer.’ Another cover song is the ‘Långa Bollar På Bengt.’ It’s a famous Swedish song by the band Svenne Rubins. They are from our region in Sweden and we did this song actually before we had enough of our own songs. Later it became requested by fans worldwide."
