Philadelphia death metal squadron Goreaphobia is currently putting the finishing touches on the band's new full-length, titled "Apocalyptic Necromancy." The follow-up to "Mortal Repulsion," released in 2009, the 12-track long player was recorded, mixed, and mastered by drummer Jim Roe and features new guitarist VJS (Kult ov Azazel, Crimson Moon, Demoncy, etc.).
Comments guitarist Alex Bouks of the band’s latest output: "All of us in the Gorephobia camp are real excited about finishing the new record. The new tunes will once again contain 1000% occult metal nihilism! The only way I can describe our new endeavor is that’s it’s very diverse and takes us back to the band’s roots. Jim has once again recorded and mixed the record at his home studio, Neanderthal.
"Apocalyptic Necromancy also marks the debut of our new guitar player VJS. There’s a highly positive and magical vibe for the band at the present time. For me, this record is a true progression from the song writing and production on Mortal Repulsion. We hope to have it out soon for all our long time and newer fans."

American hardcore act Call To Preserve has announced through its record label that the band has decided to disband. A statement from the group can be read below:
"After eight years, three full-lengths and countless tours all over, Call to Preserve is calling it quits. For the past year or so we’ve done our best to keeping functioning as a band despite losing members and having remaining members cut back their involvement.
"Now all of us are being pulled in different directions and our aspirations for our future have expanded much further than being on tour all the time. With some of us moving away, going back to school or starting careers, we just can’t sacrifice our time to this band like we used to. It would be a disservice to ourselves to do CTP half heartedly, so instead we want to go out on a high note and enjoy our last few months as a band.
"We want to do our best to make sure those who want to can come see us for the last time. This April we’ll be playing our last west coast show at Facedown Fest 2011 and in the coming months we’ll be announcing our last tour dates, which will include a stop at Cornerstone Festival. Our last show will be near the end of July this summer in Melbourne, Florida. More details will be announced soon.
"In these final months we’ll also be working on a few new songs that will be on a 7” coming out this summer on Facedown Records. We’ve wanted to put out vinyl for years and felt we had a few more things to say before we go, so this seemed like the perfect time and place to put out a 7 inch.
"We never thought that this band would get as far as it did. We never thought we’d have the chance to travel so much and tour with some of our favorite bands and make such amazing friends from all over the world. We are eternally grateful for the chance we were given to play music and actually have people listen.
"We want to thank Jason Dunn and Facedown Records for standing behind us for the past five years, being some of the easiest people to work with and for just being great friends. We want to thank all the bands we’ve met and toured with who have become some of our best friends and we will miss the shows and the hangouts dearly. Finally we want to thank everyone who has supported us by coming to a show, buying a shirt, letting us sleep on your floor or feeding us. We are more thankful than you’ll ever know.
"Thanks for listening and see you soon."

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have teamed up with the Rock 'n' Roll Wrestling Bash to be the show's new "Gore-chestra." Earache Records commented on the collaboration:
"The Rock 'n' Roll Wrestling Bash is an original and highly entertaining musical which blends Mexican wrestling with hard-hitting rock 'n' roll to create a truly unique show. While the luchadores perform their adrenaline-fuelled fights in the ring, a live band delivers a rocking, choreographed musical score to add to the drama and atmosphere. Gama Bomb will create and adapt their own songs for the show and will perform them live as the 'Gore-chestra' during the wrestling."
Gama Bomb's Philly Byrne comments: "Gama Bomb teaming up with Rock 'n' Roll Wrestling is kinda like old timey composers writing for the ballet: it just so happens that the best dance to express the music of our band involves breaking a chair over someone's head. We're looking forward to having a ton of fun with these shows and breaking some new ground in thrash metal. Gore-chestra. I like the sound of that."

Caleb also comments on joining the band: "It’s fantastic to be out on the road with Zonaria. I’ve always been a fan of death metal music, especially death metal music from Sweden, so playing with what I would consider to be one of the best modern Swedish death metal bands is both a pleasure and an honor. "Listen, we don't wanna cram this down people's throats., we don't wanna sort of overstay the welcome, and we don't know what kind of response there's gonna be to this in America, so we're starting, obviously, without being disrespectful to the rest of the wonderful country... More...

It seems the previously announced news of a commercial collaboration between Ozzy Osbourne and Justin Bieber is not the most bizzare duo of the day, as William Shatner, the actor known his roles as Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series and the title character in T.J. Hooker, has announced via his Twitter that he is working with Black Label Society mainman Zakk Wylde on his new album. Although it has not been confirmed, it seems as though the two will be covering the Black Sabbath classic, "Iron Man." William Shatner's Twitter posts read as follows:
"Just watched tracks being laid down by Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society for my upcoming record Seeking Major Tom [sic].
"Zakk is one of the great guitarists who played with Ozzy Osbourne. A master playing a cover of 'Iron Man'. He's fantastic! I'm energized." More...

Portuguese metallers Heavenwood have posted a new song, “Goddess Presiding Over Solitude,” on the band's Myspace Page Player. The track comes off the group's fourth album, “Abyss Masterpiece,” which will be released in Europe via Listenable Records on March the 14th, 2011.
Concerning "Goddess Presiding Over Solitude," Heavnewood’s lead guitarist and melodic singer Ricardo Dias comments, "‘Goddess Presiding Over Solitude’ contains more heavier and pompous sounding stuff than ever done before by Heavnnwood. This song grabs the listener by the throat with some of the most intense riffs of the album and is built in emotional intensity as the lyric concept is inspired on a poem adapted to English from our very first Portuguese female poet D. Leonor also known as Marquesa de Alorna."
