Austrian metallers Visions of Atlantis have issued the following update about their upcoming recording plans:
"Hey out there! Sorry, again long time without any message and news from the band. Well, but here I am with a short report about what`s going on at the moment: We had a few problems with the pre-recording of the drums, which is the basic to enter the studio for our work. This should be done within the next weeks (I know, wrote something like that often before the last year) and after that we should be able to have a studio-kick-off.
"It's somehow making me depressive to have a complete album pre-produced on my hard disc and at the moment no concrete date for entering the studio, which is already reserved for the band. But we just can enter when drums are finished and that`s not my cup of tea (sorry for that)...Well, the plans for 2010 for VoA are clear: Recording the new album, doing a few festivals again in Summer (and one or two earlier this year) and having a release in late Autumn. The release then will be followed by a very interesting tour in November/December, but more on that much later as it`s not time to talk about that yet actually. Very soon (i think about next week) we`ll do a relaunch of our myspace-site with some new design stuff, pics and so on will be updated, but more on that next week when there`s more time for that. Down has also made their song, "On March The Saints" available as a free download from their official website. Anselmo's message reads as follows:
"Unbelievable! We shocked the world! Congrats to our New Orleans Saints, the coaches, the staff, the general manager and the owners!!! Even before this season started, just looking at the roster, I had an insane feeling this year could be THE year! Everyone knows how powerful our offense is, but the defensive side of the ball is underrated!!! Look at the post-season stats!!!
"This has been, and will continue to be a season of destiny... there's just too many parallels to count here, but it all adds up: we have arrived! The Mighty NO Saints have cut the heads off two legends (Warner and Farve), now it's time to decapitate the third; one of our own hometown kids, Payton Manning. BRING IT BROTHER!!!!! WE'RE GOING TO THE F-ING SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!
"As for perfection in parallels, I can't think of any other words more suitable than...
"ON MARCH THE SAINTS!!!!!!!!"

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week, Eddie from All Shall Perish shares quite a different wall of death experience from their previous one.
“Wuddup, Eddie from All Shall Perish here and I can recall one time we were in Dallas, TX and I called out a wall of death. Everyone immediately spread like wildfire and I was thinking that it was going to be incredible. Sadly though when shit went off I only saw maybe ten kids run at eachother. The saving grace to these kids being too scared to run at each other was watching this one guy clothesline another guy and seeing the kid who got hit do a complete backflip. He layed on the floor for the rest of the breakdown and I was too taken back to keep singing I just pointed and laughed at how incredible watching some WWF type shit go down was. I'm happy to say the guy was more than stoked and actually came and gave me a hug later! Thank you Dallas!”
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the pit.

Andreas Kisser of Hail! has issued the following update about the band's time in New York:
"For everybody asking, here’s a brief rundown of our schedule in New York. Sunday night, January 24th - after a long day of travel we all made it to town. Tomorrow we rehearse a whole new set for the first time and then are headed to Eddie Trunk’s radio show in the evening.
"Tuesday we’re doing a taping for Sirius Radio and hopefully going to hook up with former Iron Maiden legend, Paul Di’anno. When we heard that Paul was playing BB King’s the night after us we flipped because we thought it might provide the opportunity to play together because we’re all HUGE Maiden fans. He has another gig so unfortunately we couldn’t pull it off. Paul is a true metal warrior and he deserves all of our respect for his major contribution to birthing the metal scene. HAIL! Paul Di’anno.
"Due to his announcement on radio last week, we will confirm that Overkill vocalist, Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth, will be joining us onstage for some fun. Overkill have been crushing the scene for 25 years and it is an honor to have Bobby play with us. The foundation of HAIL! is to pay tribute to all the great musicians and bands that have committed their lives and broke their asses to keeping our lifestyle and scene alive and with their 15th studio record, Ironbound, being released in a few weeks, Overkill epitomizes that commitment. HAIL! Overkill. In true HAIL! fashion, we have some other surprises guests and our first east coast date is destined to be huge. You’re not going to want to miss this!"

So far we have Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE) and Frederik Akesson (OPETH, ARCH ENEMY) who have recently sent me their solos, which of course are no less than amazing. Just wait till you hear what they have done!!!! We have six out of eight songs recorded now and should have everything wrapped up in the next few months or so. Will keep you updated on that soon.

My buddies in Testament called me up to see if I could help for the tour, as Alex (Skolnick) will be away during this time.
