DIMMU BORGIR have officially sold over 100,000 units of "Death Cult Armageddon" in the United States. Nuclear Blast comments in an announcement: "Scanning 101,418 units to date, Nuclear Blast USA is honored to have participated in such a successful and creative album such as Death Cult Armageddon".
Continuously representing the orchestral quality of Black Metal, classical arrangements have been an essential piece in their unique sound from the start. To make Death Cult Armageddon even more authentic, portions of the album were recorded in the company of the Philharmonic Orchestra Prague, consisting of 46 classically trained musicians. The effort was produced by Fredrik Nordström at the Swedish Fredman Studios (In Flames, HammerFall).
Released on September 9th, 2003 and debuting on the Billboard Top 200 at number 169, "Death Cult Armageddon" received multiple "Best Metal Album of the Year" accolades and had two songs featured in the trailer for the highly successful Hellboy movie. Their video for "Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse" was voted the 4th "BEST METAL OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM" by fans.
Landmine Marathon have officially joined the Level Plane Records roster. ROB ZOMBIE have set the tentative track listing for his new album, entitled "Educated Horses". The follow-up to 2001's "The Sinister Urge" was recorded at Los Angeles' Chop Shop Studios with co-producer Scott Humphrey and will include 11 tracks — including an acoustic number called "Death of It All", "Seventeen Year Locusts" and the album's first single, "Foxy, Foxy". A March 28 release via Geffen Records is expected.
"Educated Horses" track listing:
01. Sawdust in the Blood
02. American Witch
03. Foxy, Foxy
04. Seventeen Year Locust
05. The Scorpion Sleeps
06. 100 Ways
07. Let It All Bleed Out
08. Death of it All
10. The Devil's Rejects
11. Lords of Salem
"We were just very inspired this time," Zombie told MTV.com. "It's amazing how different things can be when you work with people who are excited and energetic and just so into it, that they just really inspire you to create things."
ZOMBIE's upcoming tour with LACUNA COIL and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will be his first outing since last summer's Ozzfest, where he headlined the second stage with a band that also included former MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5, drummer Tommy Clufetos and bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson.
"Before Ozzfest, I didn't have any plans to tour again at all. I was sort of sick of it, truthfully. Everything with my last band started to turn ugly and it wasn't that fun," he explained to MTV.com. "With the new band, I just had such a good time that really, as corny as it sounds, it seemed like the old days — we're having a band, we're playing and it's just fun. Once being in a band turns stressful, you go, 'What the f--- am I doing?' It was really fun, and we came off the tour and started making a record and it just clicked. The record ... we were like, 'These are the best songs ever. It would be stupid not to finish it.' "

Day Of Contempt has caused quite a stir since relocating from Australia to Orange County, California. The band has toured with The Used, Good Charlotte and Bleeding Through, played several dates on last year's "Warped Tour," as was featured on MSNBC's "Entertainment Hot List" TV show. They also supported Atreyu at their 2005 Los Angeles Halloween show.
More recently, Day Of Contempt has been in the process of writing new material for a full-length album to be released on an as-yet undetermined record label.
"The Will To Live" was produced by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Linkin Park).

Greg Wilson of Doomsdaymusic.com recently conducted an interview with D.D. Verni of OVERKILL/THE BRONX CASKET CO. fame. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Doomsdaymusic.com: Now speaking of shows I know you guys [THE BRONX CASKET CO.] were supposed to have one in October but you basically had it taken away from you what happened?
Verni: "Oh, we were supposed to play with VAN HELSING'S CURSE. I guess the people who run the band — I guess you call it a band — and the management and people in there are total, total fuck-ups. So it just got… I mean, they wound up not doing the show. They canned us because they didn't want a support band on it at all. It was not anything toward us in particular, they just didn't want a support band at all, so I don't know how it got through a promoter and into advertising and radio ads and everything else before they decided that but one hand didn't know what the other hand was doing and it was just basically a total mess so that whole thing kinda fell apart for them and us."
Doomsdaymusic.com: I know OVERKILL is touring through the first part of next year, what are your plans after that? Do you plan on taking THE BRONX CASKET CO. out on the road?
Verni: "We're talking right now about doing some stuff in April over in Europe. If that happens or not, I don't know. Even for OVERKILL, when we finish in February or March, we'll probably start thinking about doing a new record... We've even been talking with [Dave] Mustaine [MEGADETH] a bunch lately about doing the Gigantour and being a part of that for the summer time, so if we end up doing that we'll have to stop our writing process, but otherwise it looks like OVERKILL will finish up in February and work on getting to writing. And THE BRONX CASKET CO. — that's right when we're thinking about doing some touring, but that shouldn't be a problem, because that's me and Blitz [vocals] writing the songs so I can always send him... I already have some stuff for the new album and I can always send him some material if I go out on the road. It's a pretty easy process with me and Blitz when it comes to doing OVERKILL records."

Birmingham’s NAPALM DEATH will be embarking on North America’s ‘The Enemy Of God II’ Tour in late February with Kreator. Vocalist for the band Barney Greenway had this to say, “Hello everyone, looks like we’re coming back to North America to make a load of noise again. The Code Is Red… was such a well-received album, and we’re disappointed that this is only the first time that we’re getting to a lot of places, but we try our best, you know. What are the shows going to be like? Well, we will totally go for it, as ever, and hopefully you’ll all enjoy. It’ll be chaotic, spasmodic and hopefully a beautiful thing. There should be quite a bit of The Code… stuff in there as well."
“There’s also the small matter of the follow-up to The Code…, which we are each working on in our own little corners of the world. I have a few songs ready to go lyrically but nothing concrete to share with you right at this moment unfortunately. I’ve been thinking about the general theme of the album a lot and what I’d like to project in this age of being dragged down paths of religious oppression is the spirit of free-thinking. I mean, believe what you want to believe if it makes you happy, but I still don’t believe that mass governance via religious theories is wise, especially when the world is so fragile. The whole idea, just for example, of stickering school textbooks that try to explain the scientifically proven evolution of mankind with stickers that say ‘this is not necessarily the truth’ is entirely counter-productive. Anyway… we hope to hit the studio mid-May for a late-year release. See you all soon stateside. Peace, love, equality."
Roadrunner Records has now officially announced the signing of Massachusetts-based five-piece SHADOWS FALL for all territories excluding the U.S.
Mark Palmer, M.D. of Roadrunner Records U.K. stated: "SHADOWS FALL have been one of the standard-bearers for quality American metal for the past 4 years and it's an honor to have them as part of the Roadrunner family."
Likewise, SHADOWS FALL frontman Brian Fair was equally enthused by their new home. Speaking from Massachusetts, where the band are working on songs for their fifth studio album, he commented, "All of us in SHADOWS FALL are very excited to begin a working relationship with Roadrunner Records! The label has always represented the multiple sounds and styles of the metal genre and they have never been afraid to take a chance and support bands they believed in. From the roots of extreme metal with OBITUARY, DEICIDE and EXHORDER to the breakout success of bands like SLIPKNOT and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, Roadrunner has always been at the fore-front of the evolution of metal. We feel it will be a perfect fit to help spread the word about SHADOWS FALL around the globe. The time has come for total world domination."
Nuclear Blast Records has announced the signing of the legendary metal band VOIVOD for the European territory. The Canadian experimental metallers are currently putting the finishing touches on their much-anticipated new album with producer Glen Robinson (VOIVOD's "Nothingface", TEA PARTY, GWAR) at Multisons studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A late spring release is expected.
The follow-up to 2003's "Voivod" is the first album in the band's 20-plus-year career that will not feature founding guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour working alongside his bandmembers in the studio. D'Amour died August 26, 2005 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer.
In order to record the album, singer Denis "Snake" Belanger, drummer Michael "Away" Langevin and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted are utilizing all of the guitar parts that Piggy had recorded for the record on his laptop with ProTools before his death.
VOIVOD's as-yet-untitled new album will be released in North America on The End Records.
