We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Fredrik Johansson of Tuck From Hell shares a story of a good show and even better "afterparty":
Back in 2009 we played a venue in our hometown. The venue was crowded and it was magic in the air. The show was supreme but there was this guy in the audience that was so god damn drunk that he probably didn't even knew that he was there. At first he was just moshing and having fun, then he had a little to fun I guess, when he tried to crash the stage. Suddenly out of nowhere he punched a guy in the face. The police came and took him. Well the show went great for us and now on to the legendary afterparty:
Our singer Niklas Tuck Ingels has an old Dodge Van that was supposed to take us to the afterparty. We met some girl that was sober enough to drive it. Allthough the van didn't start, so Niklas (drunk as hell and butt-naked) stopped a guy and got his jump-starting cables. Yippi-kei-ey the van started. But the girl couldn't drive at all. The whole band, and some other people we brought along, were thrown around in the back seat. Ten minutes later we arrived to the apartment that belonged to a dude we met at the show. That dude started to play some classical music on his acoustic guitar and I went berserk, yelling that Petrus (lead guitar in Tuck from Hell) should play “Battery” instead. So after a while Petrus started shredding, and people went insane! headbanging, moshing and breaking stuff, we kind of thrashed the whole apartment except for his computer. We ended up watching some weird Japanese torture-films that he had, whilst drinking up his 400 dollar bottle of whiskey. Epic, Indeed.
Tuck From Hell recently announced some new shows in support of their upcoming album, "Thrashing," which is due out on January 25th, 2011 via Metalville Records. "Thrashing" can currently be heard in its entirety on AOL Music.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

"After over a year and a half of working on this record and setback after setback we can finally announce that [our next album] is coming out on Season of Mist in 2011," affirms guitarist Doug Sabolick. "Taking time away from the road helped us look at the band from an outside perspective, which then helped mold a record that encompasses our collective mood over the past few years in typical ALOL fashion. Musically, the theme of this record is to pummel the listener into submission via ignorant riffs. We are finishing writing and demoing as we speak and look forward to working hand in hand with Season of Mist to deliver our vision to the masses."

Pythia has checked in with the following activity update and announcement about working on a new album:
"Hello Pythians, wishing you all a Happy New Year from everyone here in the ‘band-camp’! Never known for sitting still, the boys and girl have been busy little bee’s lately: First of all, a big thank you to everyone at our last few UK shows of the year. All those at the Scala show were treated to a new track; Just a Lie, played live for the first time. In fact, that was probably the third time the guys had played the song all together in the same room! The crowd reaction was great, so I think you may see that one in regular rotation in the Pythia set.
"Hard Rock Hell was a show of many extremes... Extreme cold, extremely late show time, extremely drunk fans, and an extremely late/pissed off lead singer and lead guitarist. But nonetheless, the show was amazing, just a pity we couldn’t all hang around longer. Before we move on there is a big thank you and somewhat of an introduction needed. The more observant ones amongst you probably noticed Ross’ normally reflective head was slightly more hirsute and a little further from the floor at some of our last shows: Ladies and Gentlemen I give you our long suffering stand in- Oz! Oz is Ross’ former bandmate from Head-On, and generally fills in when one of the boys with a guitar has the sniffles.
"On to what’s up and coming (why else would you be reading this!?). The new album is nearly finished the recording stages and everyone in the band is extremely excited. Initial reports are ‘more of the last album, just bigger and more epic in every direction’ says Andy. The release date is set for sometime in the second quarter of the year and you can rest assured that the live performances will come shortly after, as the gigs are what the band is all about after all!
"There will also be a video to compliment the release. No details as yet, but he lot of them are frantically planning, scheming, setting fire to things, and generally making their garb look more imposing for the event. As soon as we know any more details the Pythia News Network will reveal all we know. There was also a new t-shirt released for the last few shows, if you haven’t got one yet, why not?! Featuring the artwork from the fantastic Clive Arrowsmith and Hayley Madden it is sure to be a future collector’s item! More...
Napalm Records has issued the following announcement about Kampfar releasing a new full-length album:
"Kampfar's latest album 'Mare' opens a new chapter in the Norwegians' band history, while delivering a true monument to black metal. Frontman Dolk and the rest of the band have achieved the difficult task of giving their sound new impulses without losing their unique style. Isolated keyboard passages and sprechgesang consort with icy riffs, dark melodies, and oppressive drums. Dolk's raw vocals continue to set the pace, while giving songs like 'Bergtatt,' 'Volvevers,' and the title track such intensity that they are left with no other choice but to crawl under the skin of even the most discerning black and pagan metal fans.
"The album was produced by none other than Peter Tägtgren (Abyss Studio), who provided the songs with a piercing and very powerful sound. 'Mare' is the pagan black metal masters' best work to date and is sure to become the genre's next cult classic."

"For a guy that doesnt warm up before shows this kicked my ass every night 2nd in the set. Also, it's a miracle I never had a seizure from the light show while trying to concentrate on this stuff. No added effects when I edited it together. You're basically seeing what I was seeing every night behind the kit."
Matt McChesney, vocalist of The Autumn Offering, has posted the following statement online through Myspace explaining the band's decision to go on hiatus.
"Now that the dust has settled a bit, here’s the story: We could no longer function as a band on Victory Records. They are criminals of the worst kind, and care nothing about the artists on their roster. Not going to get into a bunch of boring shit about record labels and money, but anyone with half a brain can see what was going on here. We were never dropped or anything like that, and as far as I can see they still have us listed on their artist roster. Whatever. Maybe one day when heavy music gets cool again, we’ll make some more records…but in this current climate of 'djent' shit and deathcore, no thanks.
"Most of those bands sound like furniture being moved around in an empty room. In the meantime, Jesse [Nunn, Autumn Offering guitarist] and myself have completed 14 songs with producer Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Divine Heresy, Cavelera Conspiracy) in Hollywood over the past 3 months. Its great stuff…kind of like Alice in Chains meets Faith No More, with a little bit of metal thrown in. We don’t have a name yet…just focusing on finishing the album first…I’ll keep you posted!!"
