The gaming public's love/obsession for music games has unquestionably died down in the last couple of years, and the output on the Rock Band Network has been steadily decreasing over the previous months.
For those out there who still can't wait for Friday night to take shots and badly scream into a microphone, you've got a few new tracks coming your way (although Xbox players will be disappointed to learn they actually get less new music than PS3 gamers for once). Xbox 360 fans now have access to this new track:
War of Ages - “Silent Night” (80 MSP)
PS3 players instead will get these songs on 1/29/2013 (North America) and 1/30/2013 (Europe):
The Dillinger Escape Plan - "Gold Teeth on a Bum" ($1.99)

The occult metal troupe Lightning Swords of Death broke through "The Extra Dimensional Wound" (reviewed here) into our world back in 2010, and the group has spent the interim working on a proper invocation to Baphomet and the magical arts.
Newly released album "Baphometic Chaosium" is exactly what it sounds like, and Lightning Swords of Death vocalist Autarch wasn't shy about spreading its message. "The new one is pretty much a love letter to Baphomet," he stated during a recent chat with Metalunderground.com. Discussing the album, he went on to say "When one invokes Baphomet you are usually seeking a certain wisdom that will be left inside you after the ritual. That’s the feeling I wanted the CD to have. I wanted something to enter the listener for the duration of the playtime and then leave traces of itself within you."
With the album having just seen official release through Metal Blade, along with a music video directed by Autarch himself, black metal fans now have the chance to decide for themselves if that lofty goal was achieved. To get an inside look at what went into the creation of this new assault of occult heaviness, check out the full interview below. More...

Italian super group Libria - featuring Marianna Alfieri (Kirlian Camera, Spectra Paris, Dark Lunacy), Gregorio Ferrarese (The Modern Age Slavery), Elena Alice Fossi (Kirlian Camera, Spectra Paris), and Fabio Palombi (Nerve, Ritual of Rebirth) - has signed a publishing deal with Wormholedeath/Dreamcell11/Aural Music Group.
Wormholedeath/Dreamcell11 will release the group's debut album titled “Immortal Daughter of Aesthetics” worldwide on a 2013 date still to be scheduled.
Marianna Alfieri stated: "This is the first album I composed by myself and I’m very pleased to collaborate with Wormholedeath for its release. I’m very excited about the chance to spread my music with the help of friends of Wormholedeath. The team is experienced and professional and I’m sure that joining our forces will give Libria many opportunities through the great Wormholedeath network."
Wormholedeath A&R "Worm" stated: “Leaving apart the true respect and admiration I feel for Marianna as a person and musician, when I listened to this album I wanted to support her project mainly for the potential of the album and Libria as a project itself. Immortal daughter of aesthetics is a powerful mix of melodic death metal, with an outstanding guitar work and majestic symphonic passages, lacerated by the dramatic vocals of Fabio Palombi. Furthermore the album features the guest appearance of Elena Alice Fossi (Kirlian Camera) and Alessia Cavalieri (Spectra Paris) on vocals and Francesca Dardani on violin. Nowadays Libria also features my friend monster drummer Gregorio Ferrarese. Look away from the lighthouse, and follow the stars!””
The following press release was also issued about the band: The original idea of Libria was inspired by 'Equilibrium,' a Kurt Wimmer film (2002). Libria is a city-state based on a strong absolute power, controlling the mind of people by the mean of Prozium, a drug which suppresses emotions. The 'peace' and control obtained in this way is not so different from the way our society tries to keep us blind and deaf to the awareness of Truth. Our soul can be rescued by detaching from physical senses, and increasing the power of our mind, with strong discipline and will, without any drugs, just relying on our own mental forces. From these principles and ranging over reflections about death, life, spiritual growing and esoteric studies, the whole concept of Libria was born." More...
MetalSucks today proudly premieres the opening track from Devourment’s pending Relapse debut, "Conceived In Sewage," with the easy listening number “Legalize Homicide.”
Witness the violence unfolding while you slam your brain into pudding to "Legalize Homicide" at this location. One of those inspirational tunes that really gets your blood moving, motivational poetry flows through the song: “I'm shackled by my twisted mind, A prisoner of the darkest kind, Ravaged by an insidious mind, A machine of death from within you'll find, The knife, The axe...”
Previously, Relapse Records also dropped a new grislly lyric video for the album’s crushing “50 Ton War Machine” (available here).

Sweden's classic rock heavyweights Spiritual Beggars are currently wrapping up work on their 8th studio album, which will be entitled "Earth Blues" and is set for releas in Spring 2013 via InsideOut Music. Spiritual Beggars will celebrate the band's 20th anniversary with this release and by playing shows, including a European tour in April. Guitarist and songwriter Michael Amott comments on the album:
"We started the recording process of 'Earth Blues' with an eight day long session at 'Fat Guitar Studios' (Sweden) with knob twiddler Roberth Ekholm, a truly great dude who really knows how to capture a band jamming live, sadly a rare quality in recording engineers nowadays! We continued with some overdubs at various studios in Sweden, and it's all come together super easy this time. We're finishing up the mixes now with Staffan Karlsson at his studio in Halmstad, Sweden. Sonically, I think this might be our finest hour yet. It's a raw, heavy and honest record."
In order to promote this upcoming release as well as the band's anniversary, Spiritual Beggars has confirmed a European tour for April with support by German rockers Zodiac, as well as some European summer festivals. See below for all upcoming dates: More...

Corrosion of Conformity has begun writing material for a next album, the follow-up to the self-titled record released via Candlelight Records in late February 2012 and recently released Scion A/V EP "Megalodon." The album, untitled at this time, will again feature the trio of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woodroe Weatherman, and drummer Reed Mullin.
Last week the band announced a first live performance for the New Year at the annual Metal Fest Chile on April 13th. It will be the first Corrosion of Conformity appearance ever in Chile. Mike Dean comments, “We have been talking about going to South American forever and with Chile being a big source of so much of our Facebook traffic, I know it’s going to be epic. Another chance for us to do a festival with Down is always a very good thing.”
The festival follows the completion of the band’s recent U.S. tour that concluded in southern California alongside High On Fire. The trio was also a featured participant on Barge From Hell that left Florida shores on December 7th. Dean notes, “The cruise was pretty awesome. We had Rick and Jonathan from Torche masquerading as our crew and watching their antics alone was worth the trip. The seas were calm so there was no hurling over the bow.”
Corrosion of Conformity continues to promote the self-titled album in interviews with media as well spreading word on the band's recently released "Megalodon" EP. The EP, sponsored by the folks at Scion A/V, is available for free now via various outlets. Dean says, “The EP was written, recorded, and released in two months time. It really challenged us in a good way. It feels good to get two releases out in one year and I expect that we will continue that level of productivity.” Continuing he shares, “The self-titled album is holding up very well for me. There is a wide variety of material there. It’s all definitely COC but at the same time everything is really a stretch for us. Within the realm of never being totally satisfied, I am very happy with how it came out.”
Italy’s Southern rock/doom metal act Tombstone Highway has posted a new song off the debut album entitled "Ruralizer," coming out February 28th in Europe and March 19th in North America on Agonia Records. "Ruralizer" will consist of eight original songs and a cover of Mountain's "Mississippi Queen" with a playing time of almost 50 minutes. "Ruralizer" was recorded at Elfo Studios by Daniele Mandelli who is also in charge of mix and mastering. The band commented: "We're very proud of how the album came out and we strongly believe it's the perfect way to begin our legacy. People into heavy, ballsy southern-tinged Hard Rock should take note!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Old Blood
2. Acid Overlord
3. Graveyard Blues
4. Hellfire Rodeo
6. Bite The Dust (and Bleed)
7. At The Bitter End

Serbian act Destiny Potato is currently in the studio working on a debut album, tentatively titled "Lun," due out summer 2013 via Century Media Records. To give fans a preview of this forthcoming release, Destiny Potato mastermind David Maxim Micic has posted a guitar play-through of the new album track, "Blue Sun," which can be viewed here below.
Maxim comments: "As our final days in the studio are finally here, we thought it's about time to put some new music out. More updates, interviews, music, lessons and great news are on the way but for now you can enjoy this instrumental version of Destiny Potato's song 'Blue Sun'. Stay Awesome! Potate!"
Destiny Potato was formed in the spring of 2011 by Maxim and singer Aleksandra Djelmas, who had been writing and recording songs together since they were 16. Maxim and Djelmas attended the same high school and both of their fathers played in one of Serbia's most popular progressive rock bands, Yu Grupa. When deciding on band name, Maxim and Djelma wanted to come up with something light-hearted to fit their personalities, yet something that everyone would remember-- Destiny Potato seemed a fitting choice, and it has stuck with them ever since. The band consists of:
Aleksandra Djelmas - vocals, piano
Ana Little Fog Maglica - vocals, violin
David Maxim Micic - guitar, keyboards and production
Milan Jejina Yeqy - drums
Bojan Kvocka - bass
Dusan Vanja Andrijasevic - guitar More...
Denver, Colorado based act Anchorage has posted the song "Borne of Fire" online, which can be heard below. The band also comments:
"Today we're posting the tenth and final track off of Patience, titled 'Borne of Fire.' One of our favorite tracks off of the album, but let's face it they are all our favorites. This track is dark, eerie, and inspirational. This song's message was taken from the story of how the phoenix came to be. The song inspires to follow your passions no matter how hard it gets."
Psychothermia's debut album "Fall To The Rising Sun" will be dropping on February 8th, 2013. "We kept seeing other bands using fake fire in their photos and videos, we just thought it would be bad-ass to do it for real," says guitarist Jon Russo.
Real is right. A stunt legend, an exhausting weekend, and a lot of burnt clothing later they walked away changed... the fumes may have proved inspiring. With the easy part over, the band headed into the studio to really let loose. An indescribable energy lurks within the four members and is released in songs like the title track "Fall To The Rising Sun."
"Stay one step ahead of yourself; stay one step ahead of the competition; always strive to better yourself... and if you don't, you fall to the rising sun. Fate will catch up with you," timely words from singer Johan Maldonado as he explains the meaning behind the title.
Personal experiences play a large part in the writing found on the album, and nowhere is this more apparent than "Warbly." Bassist Chenzo Vidalez explains "I'm all about family and being loyal to friends. This song is about a deep betrayal. I was on a motorcycle trip where I caught a friend in a lie... tension escalated and it got to the point where I feared for my life. My instincts kept telling me if I stayed there someone was going to die." More...

For many years, the members of Blind Guardian have talked about it, and finally lead singer Hansi Kürsch provides a proper update about it: the orchestral CD! Hansi posted the following statement online:
"first a late, but still fresh, Happy New Year to everyone. After getting rid of some bonus pounds gained over the last few months due to live abstinence we are now getting ready for a very busy and exciting year of creativity and efficiency. Wishful thinking, you think? Blasphemy, I would reply! As most of you may have recognized, we have been busy all during 2012 with some additional touring activity and some extra missions, such as the completion of 'A Traveler´s Guide To Space And Time,' which is a great legacy. It features all of our material from the Virgin era in a new and accurate framework, beautifully designed by Felipe Machado. The whole box offers a great insight about that particular part of our career. Even though it took us more time than expected, we are really pleased with the final result. It’s something we are really proud of and something which you hopefully are going to enjoy as much as we do. I just got my sample yesterday, and am really blown away.
"This, of course, has not been the only thing we were doing during the last year. For the sake of fun and leisure we were working on new stuff and progressed far quicker than we would have expected. Not that this means a lot in the generous production time frame of Blind Guardian. But it might secure a late 2014 release for at least one BG album. As you may have read in interviews we are intending to bring a long story to a well deserved and hopefully happy end. As already announced with A Twist in the Myth and also with At the Edge of Time, apart from a regular album there finally will also be the release of the orchestral album. Why am I so sure about not being wrong again this time? I have no idea. Nothing new here, one could say. More...

Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom entered Danger Johnny Studios (located at a top secret, undisclosed location in Helsinki) to begin work on an as-yet-untitled eighth studio album.
For the recording of the LP, Children of Bodom has teamed up with recording engineer Mikko Karmila, who worked with the band on "Hatebreeder," "Follow the Reaper," and "Hate Crew Deathroll" as well as producer Peter Tägtgren (Marduk, Amon Amarth), who is overseeing production of both vocals and keyboards on the record. The album will be mixed at Finnvox Studios and a summer release date via Nuclear Blast Records is expected.
"It's a nice change to the regular method where we lock ourselves up at a studio in the middle of the woods, usually also during the darkest time of the year," commented guitarist / vocalist Alexi Laiho who is currently finishing up lyrics for the songs. In early February, Tägtgren will travel to Finland to oversee the keyboard and vocal recordings for his longtime allies. More...

Jowita and Simone do a fantastic first class job with their releases (no cheap packaging!) and are truly passionate about what they do. We have had a great working relationship with Jowita for several years now with her doing the cover art for our last 2 releases, 'The Unknown' and 'Standing the Test of Time', both awesome artworks. We look forward to nothing but great things to come with our new partners... See you on the road!!!' More...

Finnish metal veterans Amorphis have revealed the front cover artwork for their forthcoming new album, "Circle." You can check it out below. Vocalist Tomi Joutsen explained the cover thusly: "The mystic, androgynous person on the cover represents a spiritual guide. This character was sent from another time and place to help the album’s protagonist find a new path for his life."
This guide was previously mentioned by Amorphis lyricist Pekka Kainulainen in his summary of the album concept: "The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from another time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."
The band also revealed the tracklisting for "Circle," which as follows:
"Shades Of Gray"
"Into The Abyss"
"Enchanted By The Moon"
"A New Day" More...
