Metal legends Black Sabbath announced that the writing sessions for the forthcoming album with the band's original lineup has been moved from Los Angeles to Birmingham, England.
In a post on the band's Facebook page, the band added "Sabbath has gone back to where it all started and it’s been just amazing. This is where the writing of the album will be completed. Funny how it all goes full circle sometimes."
Earlier this month, the metal world was rocked by the revelation that founder/guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is currently awaiting and/or receiving treatment. Iommi responded to the outpouring of well wishes that the band will proceed with the creation of the album despite his illness and later Geezer Butler revealed that Iommi had two songs written already.
Chicago rockers Bible of the Devil announced the completion of the band's sixth full-length album "For the Love of Thugs and Fools." The album is scheduled for release on May 8, 2012 through Italian based label Cruz Del Sur Music. The album marks the follow up to the 2008 release "Freedom Metal" and was recorded at Phantom Manor studios in Chicago with engineer Mike Lust, who has engineered numerous Bible of the Debil recordings in the past.
According to the band's press release:
"'For the Love of Thugs and Fools' is viewed by the band as a document of the many characters they have encountered through the life of the band, whether it be in love, loss, friendship, or hatred. Having toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe since the band's inception in late 1999 and living in the volatile urban environment Chicago, where encounters with crime, violence, and 'street justice' are unavoidable, there has been much subject matter for the band to draw from. Embracing the philosophy that a bottle of whiskey and some loud guitar is often the best cure available for these challenges and ordeals, Bible of the Devil have chosen to document their grievances in the form of one devastating Rock n' Roll platter."
Singer/guitarist Mark Hoffmann had the following comments on the album: "The few years since the last full-length have been like a dare. A dare to create a soaring, punishing Rock n' Roll record of this magnitude. It is a dare that we have been forced to answer ourselves." More...

After a brief arctic slumber your Lords and Masters GWAR will be returning to the road this Spring on the second leg of their "Return of the World Maggot Tour." The tour kicks off with a special tribute show for fallen band mate and friend Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, in Richmond, VA, at The National Theater on Friday March 16th. All proceeds from the Richmond show will benefit the "Smoot Family Fund" which has been established to help support Cory's widow and their unborn child.
Support on this run will come from fellow Richmond metallers Municipal Waste and California's Ghoul. Legacy of Disorder will join the tour on March 20th in Boston and the tour will run through April 11th in Fort Collins, CO. Personal slave to Oderus and Slave Pit spokesman Dave Brockie had this to say:
"All the years of doing GWAR could never have prepared us for what we have been through, and I want to thank the metal community and the extended GWAR family for all of your support. Finishing that last tour was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, and we still have about half of the country left to hit. We will continue as a four-piece, with the special tribute to Flattus at the end of the show, in order to give our fans a chance to say goodbye to our fallen Scumdog brother in true GWAR fashion-covered in blood and rocking the fuck out! After this tour is over we can start looking to the future and begin to put this tragedy behind us. But for now we are still in 'Hail Flattus' mode! There are still a couple of weeks worth of shows TBA, so if you don't see your city, don't freak out!"

Guitarist Jeff Loomis has been in the studio the last few months working on his sophomore solo album, to be released later this year. Since entering the studio, Loomis has revealed a number of notable guests that will be appearing on the release and now, Loomis announces the newest special guest: Ihsahn, formerly of Norwegian black metal band Emperor and current solo artist. Jeff commented:
"I know most of you are aware that Christine Rhoades is doing some vocals on my album. At first I thought she'd be the only guest singer on the record but then this one song started coming together, it's pretty brutal. I've always wanted to do really, really heavy music and after hearing this, both Aaron and myself thought we needed some crazy, sick singer on it.
"We just sat around tossing names out for a bit, nothing really was sticking and then Aaron says, 'I got it...Ihsahn' and it was one of those moments where you knew that was the answer all along, it just hadn't been unlocked in your mind yet. Anyway, a few short emails back and forth and we had his vocal track in. It came out amazing. I can't wait for you to hear it. Ihsahn, thanks again, it's an honor to have you on my record."
The new album will be produced by Aaron Smith (7 Horns 7 Eyes), and fans should keep their eyes peeled for previews of developing songs, studio updates and additional details.

"'Memento Mori' is a concept album about a downward spiral in depression and death, set out to stretch the boundaries of traditional melodic/gothic metal with its dark and brooding atmosphere. This nightmarish journey through hell and back was inspired by arson, mishaps, bad luck as well as the lineup changes the band endured during these past years.
"These events shaped the band and transformed the album into a dynamic ensemble with warm and cold flashes of traditional metal and darkly progressive stunts, promising to raise eyebrows and make hearts race."

Finnish progressive death metal act Barren Earth has issued the following statement about the track listing for the band's new album and plans for a special edition release:
"Hi y'all. There has been conflicting information about the new albums tracklist and the number and destination of bonus tracks.
"The fact of the matter is that the album will include 8 songs, not 9. The list of 9 tracks, as exemplified in the Record Shop X ad here, is based on the original version of the album the way it was planned last Autumn. It was later agreed, however, that the song order would be altered, and that one song, The Passage Unfolds, would be omitted. This has now happened, and the new 8-track list is out in the world. Unfortunately, also the 9-track list seems to persist. Do not take heed of this!
"Also in the pipeline is a special edition of the album with 2 bonus tracks: Martyrs Of Devotion and World In Haze. The fate of The Passage Unfolds is as of yet unclear, but it will probably also surface in one form or another at some point."
Barren Earth's new album "The Devil's Resolve" will see its North American release on March 13th, 2012 via Peaceville Records. More...

"The past year brought a big challenge and many changes for nearly all in the band, personally and professionally, so Edenbridge had to step back into the second row temporarily. Furthermore, I was struck by a family tragedy through the suicide of my father, which I had to come to terms with and still have to. Moments, where nothing is as it was before.
"These events of course will have a strong impact on our forthcoming album which is scheduled for 2012. I believe that this is going to be the most intensive album of our history. 55 minutes of music and 6 lyrics are already written and I often have goosebumps listening to the songs. Corrupted by the glorious, bountiful presence of all-knowing evil — vice and deviance their predominant muse(s) – the hateful hellmongers channel pestilence, corruption and occult rituals into their most scathing and relentless concoction yet. 'In Nomine Odium' is a caustic, toxic and breathtaking excursion into the darkest corridors of the human psyche, where even the more ambient passages are dark, menacing and deeply disturbing." This Beastly recording immortalises all that Exordium Mors stand for: barbaric, vicious vocals with pulverizing, thrashing riffs that will decimate and destroy the souls of all that listen it. This music/recording is dedicated to the True Maniacs we've encountered and are likely to encounter in future.
"Sacrifice Perish and Demise promo copies are now being sent out to labels/zines. If your label may be interested in releasing this contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If your zine would like an interview contact us as well. A sampler will be posted soon so keep a look out!
"We have also been busy playing multiple shows with our brothers of metal in NZ along with a ritual last week where we shared the stage with Occult blackmetal Legends ABSU that proved to be quite a show.
"We also have planned multiple international shows that will be announced in the next few months.
"The stage is now set. Sacrifice Perish and Demise marks the start of a line of releases with our first full length 'The Apotheosis of Death' that is planned to be released later this year. EXPECT TOTAL ANNIHILATION."
French act Gojira will be releasing a new full-length album later this year through Roadrunner Records, and the band has now posted a fourth studio video update online.
