Boston thrash metal band Ravage has issued the following update:
"It's been a while, so first I'd like to say thanks to everyone who came out to see Ravage live last year on our first full US tour - it ended disastrously, but it was good to meet many new friends and fans out there along the way and we appreciate everyone's support and we hope to get to all the places we've missed as soon as possible. We are hopefully returning to the Southwest in May and we hope to make up the Las Vegas show and get to Arizona again as well as playing New Mexico for the first time. We also hope we can get into Canada some time this year. Additional thanks to everyone who picked up our Metal Blade Records debut CD 'The End Of Tomorrow.' The album was the culmination of a lot of hard work and headaches and it was nice to finally get it out there. Finally, thanks to everyone who put the record on their top albums lists for 2010, that was very cool of you. Now on to the current and future happenings..." More...
Dutch thrash metal band Textures has issued the following update:

"Dear fans & friends,"
"I decided to quit Textures. My life changed, priorities shifted. I can’t cope with the heavy touring and the time investment anymore. I need to focus on my job and family. I need to take a few steps back. I’ve had six beautiful years with the band, did loads of amazing shows, made tons of new friends and created some mind-blowing music. I’m going to miss the guys, and of course you, the fans. I know Textures will continue to conquer the world and give you all great, heavy and awesome music. I wish my successor all the best." More...
Heavy metal outfit Fozzy, which features Stuck Mojo founder/guitarist Rich Ward and World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Chris Jericho, has announced that they have been forced to delay the release of their latest studio album, "Chasing The Grail" in Europe. A message from the band reads as follows:
"The release of Chasing The Grail has been delayed in Europe until March 15th. The distributor we had in place was unable to meet their obligations to the band and its fans, and dropped out at the last minute forcing us to delay the release.
"The good news is, Plastic Head stepped up big and in record time, and will release the record in the UK/Europe on March 15th and the even better news is that shortly, there will be big news exclusively for our fans in the UK."
Quebec grindcore band Mesrine has issued the following update:
"Our new album is now completed. It is called 'Obsessive Compulsive' and contains 41 songs. We are totally satisfied with the way it turned out and we believe it is our strongest material to date. It's a 100% non-compromising, brutal grindcore assault! Expect an early spring CD release by Profusion Productions and an LP release later this year by Jennifer Grind Records."
Swedish metal band EVOCATION has issued the following update:
"Dear brothers and sisters it's January 2010 and it's cold, dark and kinda depressive. This is the perfect conditions for us to start recording our full length #3 which is also once again going to be released by the mighty Cyclone Empire in the fall this year, we're aiming at October. We have 11 new tracks and right now we are finishing up our pre-recordings and we have to say that it feels really good. The sound will be more raw but it will still be as Evocation as one can expect - plain, raw and brutal. Some of the new songs will hit your faces with such a force that you will have trouble recovering afterwards. We leave 2009 with proud faces, having such a good festival summer and last but not least the mighty European tour together with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS and OBSCURA. All of the bands were amazing both in private as on stage. This leaves us nothing but strength and confidence for the next album and hunger for more, more and more. So our dear friends we see you soon, and prepare yourselves for a reunion in war."

Salem Rose Music Publishing has announced its publishing cooperation with SEVENTH CALLING.
"We are very excited to have the chance to work with Marco Barbieri. He is a person of great experience in the industry,” notes Steve Handel (lead singer/guitarist). “It is our pleasure to begin our partnership at this time, and we hope that together, we can achieve and accomplish the many goals that are set before us."
Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, the band built a name for themselves through Midwest tour dates and their 2007 album "Monuments" on Melissa Records. Last year the core of the band, Steve Handel and guitarist Alex Ritchey relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada to team up with Avenger of Blood drummer Shannon Frye to complete the "Prelude to Madness" EP, issued late 2009 by Heaven and Hell Records. With the addition of Marc Flores, also of Avenger of Blood, on bass, Salem Rose Music Publishing worked out a deal with the very promising band.
Shannon Frye had this to add, “With Avenger of Blood on hold for the time being, Marc and I joined Seventh Calling, which is some killer metal that's fun and challenging. Avenger of Blood will return in the future, but for now Seventh Calling is our priority and working on this again with Marco is awesome.”
Seventh Calling is playing shows in Vegas and readying themselves to enter the studio next month to record their new full-length, "Epidemic," which will be followed by tour dates around the country.
Salem Rose Music began in 2007 as a management company handling the affairs of WARBRINGER, as well as establishing a Music Publishing division handling the administration of works for emerging artists including AVENGER OF BLOOD, HEXEN, DEVASTATOR and REVENANCE. Since the company, a creative venture from industry vet Marco Barbieri to assist young bands in their ambitions, has begun managing additional artists, including ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and DECREPIT BIRTH, as well as entertaining new avenues like promoting local shows, consulting and producing.

Ventura, CA-based Stockholm-styled death metallers, FATALIST, have released a video for the song "Frozen Epitaph" from their Ibex Moon Records debut, "The Depths Of Inhumanity." Guitarist / vocalist Neil Burkdoll had the following to say about the video, which can be veiwed below.
"So here is our video for 'Frozen Epitaph.' The song is from our recently released album 'The Depths Of Inhumanity' on Ibex Moon Records. This video was made to promote the European release of our album on January 19th, 2010. It was a lot of hard work and it was totally low budget, but we think it does the job. Shooting this video was the first time the 4 of us were even in the same room for at least 6 months and it was probably the last time as well. We want to thank Frank Boross and Rachel Burkdoll for all of the work they put into making this video a reality. Also a special thanks to John from Ibex Moon for funding the project. Now go and watch this fucking video!!!"
In other news, FATALIST recently parted ways with Wes Caley and Tyler Castro. FATALIST is now looking for a full time singer. Please contact the band at www.myspace.com/fatalist666 for more info. "The Depths of Inhumanity" is out now in America and in Europe on January 19th, 2010.
Given the sad news earlier today that the Scorpions would be breaking up, it seemed the most fitting time to take a look at one of the greatest bands that Germany ever produced. The Scorpions formed way back in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker as a band which had more of a beat influence until 1969 when Rudolf's brother Michael joined the band on lead guitar and they recruited lead singer Klause Meine. The band released their first album, "Lonesome Crow" in 1972 and promoted the release by touring as support to British hard rockers UFO. The band would split up briefly after this tour, due to Michael Schenker leaving to join UFO. Rudolf Schenker would join the band Dawn's Road with Uli Jon Roth afterwards and convinced Meine to join him. After a while, the band decided to resurrect the Scorpions name as it was well known in the German rock scene.
The new lineup recorded several successful albums such as "Fly To The Rainbow," "In Trance" and "Virgin Killer," the latter of which caused considerable controversy due to it's album cover. The band began to hit their critical peak when they released "Lovedrive" in 1979 which contained the excellent title track as well as "Is There Anybody There?" and "Holiday," which are considered classics of the band's catalogue. The band released two more albums, "Animal Magnetism" and "Blackout" before cementing their place as hard rock superstars with the "Love At First Sting" album, which featured "Rock You Like A Hurricane," perhaps the band's most well known song.
Since then, the Scorpions has released several more acclaimed albums and gone on to sell over 75 million records worldwide. Their song "Winds Of Change" was hailed as an anthem during the end of the Cold War and were the second hard rock band to perform in Russia under Soviet rule (the first being Uriah Heep.) They are regarded as one of the best live groups from the so-called "classic" heavy metal bands and are also considered pioneers of the heavy metal ballad style. They will be releasing their final studio album, "Sting In The Tail" later this year with a worldwide farewell tour to follow.

In a recent message from Gorgoroth guitarist Infernus, a warning was issued to the band's fans that a bootleg album entitled, "Forces Of Satan Storms" could be released. The post reads as follows:
"According to several major online retailers, a new Gorgoroth CD called Forces Of Satan Storms is supposed to be released on January 26th, by a company called IMV Blueline. This has understandably led to some confusion, as no such release has been announced on the official Gorgoroth website. I would therefore like to make it clear to all that this CD is to be considered a bootleg, as it has not been sanctioned by the band. Also, to the best of my knowledge, this CD has been successfully stopped and will not be released at all."
German hard rock legends Scorpions have announced that their forthcoming new album, "Sting In The Tail" and it's subsequent world tour, will be the band's last. A statement from the band discussing their forthcoming split reads as follows:
"Important message to our fans:
"It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
"While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpions' extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
