Drummer Alan Madhavan corresponded with me to share the tale of the band moving from the United Arab Emirates to North America, striking a balance between outright brutality and complex song structures, and to tell all upcoming metal bands to never surrender. Detroit metal act Imminent Sonic Destruction has teamed up with producer Roy Z (Halford, Bruce Dickinson) to record the debut album "Recurring Themes." The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Imminent Sonic Destruction is the brainchild of Detroit-based guitarist, vocalist and metal innovator Tony Piccoli. Influenced by the raw power of bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah, and Pantera, as well as the disciplined complexities of progressive groups like Dream Theater and Genesis, Piccoli set out to change the face of metal. His blend of crushing guitars, ethereal overtones, a combination of vocal styles and wonderful melody are wrapped in subtly complex time signatures, skull-crushing guitar riffs, and melodic hooks so memorable that you will need surgery to get these songs out of your head.
"The album, which will be released in February 2012, features nine original tracks that feature the band's trademark vocal harmonies soaring over original progressive-metal riffing, melodic compositions and the rhythms of ex-Tiles drummer, Pat DeLeon."
Producer Roy Z added, "I had the great pleasure of working with Imminent Sonic Destruction last year. Tony and the lads have a special blend of great songs and musicianship which I feel is sometimes often lost in the genre. Only time will tell but I think Imminent Sonic Destruction have a great future ahead of them."

Finnish symphonic gothic metal band Lullacry announced details of the band's fifth release and first in seven years. The album is entitled "Where Angels Fear," and it will be released worldwide in March 2012 through the band's own label OUTO Recordings. The album, which marks the first since the 2005 release "Vol. 4," was produced by Mikko Herranen (ex-vocalist for Misery, Inc.), who also sings a duet with vocalist Tanja Lainio on the track "Feel My Revenge."
The first single from the album is called "Bad Blood," which will be released digitally on February 6, 2012. The song is also streaming in the player below.
Guitarist Sami Leppikangas had the following comments on the release: "Yes it sure has taken a lot of time and many things have happened. Last year has probably been the best we've had in Lullacry, at least when it comes to vibes. And you can hear that in the album. For the first time we made songs without thinking that now we have to do a gothballad or a rocksong. We just did things more spontaneusly and it led to an album that is a lot more dark, ambitious and multi-dimensional than it's predecessors. We also paid a lot more attention on lyrics and the production was organic which made the sounds more dynamic on Where Angels Fear. It will be awesome to go and play these new tunes to people, we've really waited this for long." More...

Danish traditional metal band Pretty Maids announced that the band will celebrate its Thirtieth Anniversary with the release of a double live CD and DVD package entitled “It Comes Alive (Maid in Switzerland)” on March 23, 2012 (EU) and March 27, 2012 (North America).
The press release reads: "Following the highly acclaimed 2010 album “Pandemonium”, Danish melodic hard rockers, Pretty Maids have been touring more or less constantly throughout 2010/2011. They undertook a full scale European tour in 2010 and have since played several festivals and occasional gigs. The overwhelming response to the new songs and the ongoing requests coming from the fans prompted the band to take their chance and record a live 2CD/DVD last October 1st 2011. Pretty Maids gathered in Pratteln, Switzerland with an enthusiastic and highly explosive crowd of die hard fans and followers to fulfill the demand, for an energetic and memorable performance which was recorded with a fully equipped mobile studio and cameras.
" 'Riding on the success of our previous studio album Pandemonium and with maybe the strongest line up ever, we thought that we’d make some kind of a live document of what this band is all about in the present time' tells singer Ronnie Atkins. 'It Comes Alive is purely and simply a tribute to all our fans and supporters throughout the world, who gave us so many memorable moments, so much pleasure and making our childhood dreams come through'.
" 'The band’s spirit during the last couple of years has been better than in a long long time' says Atkins. And 'It Comes Alive (Maid in Switzerland)' shows the band at the top of their game, performing songs from a 30 year long career.
" 'It’s always difficult to make a set list that satisfies everyone' continues the singer, 'It’s a combination of what the crowd expect us to play and what we like to play ourselves ! But of course there are songs like 'Future World' and "Red Hot and Heavy' that we have been playing for the last 25 years so, they still get a new life every time we play ‘em and still seem to please our audience. But basically what you will find on this Live album are the songs that we toured with on the Pandemonium tour, with a few exceptions'." More...
