Autumns Eyes has issued an update on their current recording sessions:
"Work began on tracking acoustic guitars. The addition of acoustic tracks creates yet another element of nostalgia to the overall sound of the album. There are certain songs that will remind you of specific decades. With 70s and 80s horror movies being the most prominant inspiration towards the song writing and sound design.
"Micing the guitars was pretty straight foward. I used a KSM27 and a SM57 by Shure with the 27 diagonally aimed at the sound hole, and the 57 diagonally aimed at the center of where the neck meets the body. The two microphones combine for a very full yet distinguishable sound."

Like you can see, I present you our new single, 'Alone (Insomnus)' from upcoming album 'Human B. (ing).' More doom than black, but I hope, still good.
"Of course, it's not everything - I just finished up a song for novel 'Decathexis' by horror writer Lukasz Smigiel. It's a return to death metal times, more melodic, but also more shredding. And there's more. If you want true death listen to a track from PC game 'Killing Time.' This is not only one soundtrack on which Acrybia are working now. But time will tell the rest. The band is ready to gigs and to be a part of your life. Are you ready?"
Brooklyn metallers A Storm Of Light have issued the following update about seeking a new drummer:
"What: In just over two years since the band's inception, A Storm of Light has had the honor and privilege of playing with many great drummers: Vinny Signorelli, Jason Roeder, Pete Angevine, Andy Rice, and our current man, Geoff Summers. While this band is built around revolving members both in touring and recording, we have decided that a central three-piece will make us sonically/rhythmically stronger. That said, we have decided to look for a permanent drummer, one that will make Storm their primary focus, and be part of the band for the long haul.
"When: Geoff will be playing with us through the Feb/March US tour dates, before returning to his full time duties with his band, Batillus. We'd like to fill the spot, if possible, by mid February, and then begin working together in late March. We leave for a European tour May 5, and will most likely record the third full-length in late summer/early fall. More...

Weedeater has issued the following update about canceling their tour dates and recording plans due to vocalist Dave "Dixie" Collins shooting his toe:
"As most of you know, here in the Weedeater camp we pride ourselves on a long tradition of shooting our band in the proverbial foot right before we're supposed to do something important. Whether it's a big tour, a recording session, or whatever else we're supposed to do, invariably we will find some way to try and thwart our grandiose plans. Well, it's no different for this recording session, except that this time we really did shoot ourselves in the foot. In fact we regret to inform all of you that this weekend, Dixie Dave shot his big toe off whilst cleaning his favorite shotgun. Yup, that's right. When reached for comment, Mr. Collins gave a quote that speaks for itself...'It wasn't my intention to shoot off my big toe. This really fucking sucks and the pain is unbearable.'
"Mr. Collin's doctors have advised that he is to be bedridden for the next few weeks during his recovery. This will obviously affect the recording session (and the few surrounding shows in Jan/Feb), which will now have to be postponed until after the March / April "nine-toe" tour. Said tour is still 100% on, however, so check back soon for updates on venues and exact dates. It looks like the support bands will be awesome and the band is really stoked to play this new material after touring for so many years on the same basic set. Yeah...we knew that too, sorry but we're about to make good on it. And of course after all, we gotta keep workin', like workin' men do. Shooting your big toe off isn't free, for fuck's sake! So to re-cap...Keko sacrificed his pinkie for Down/Melvins, Shep broke his hand for Today is the Day, and now Dixie has generously offered up his big toe for Steve Albini to nibble on. Unless overtly fond of Limburger cheese and rotten flesh, Master Steve is advised to decline."

God Forbid has issued the following statement about their upcoming tour dates:
"This is quite a surprise to announce God Forbid's participation in the Five Finger Death Punch, Shadows Fall, 2 Cents tour. This was a tour we were looking at when it was first being put together, so the fact that we eventually landed it, even though it was a last minute thing, is a stroke of good fortune. We do wish our friends in Throwdown well, and hope whatever happened turns out ok in the end. Big thanks to FFDP for bringing us out! We have become good friends with them over the last couple years, and the fact that they are making this huge gesture is awesome. We go all the way back with our brothers in Shadows Fall to our first tour in 2000, so this will be another trip around the rodeo with some old friends. We've never toured with 2 Cents, but know Adair from Manttis and the other guys seem super cool. Unfortunately, we will have cancel our Jan 29th performance with Life of Agony in Long Island. Combined with the spring tour with Lamb of God and the summer Mayhem Festival, this will be the most successful US touring cycle GF has ever had, so it's a big reason to be positive in 2010!
"In other news, God Forbid will be heading out with our friends in Kittie for a few weeks in March mainly focusing on the northeast. One of the sickest new bands around, Periphery, will open the first part of the tour, and Gwen Stacy will open the 2nd part. This will more than likely be the last tour before getting back to working on a new album. appy new year to everyone, and we'll see you on tour! Tour dates are below."

New Jersey based metalcore outfit God Forbid has revealed that they have recruited a new guitar player in the shape of former Himsa guitarist Matt Wicklund. An excerpt from guitarist/vocalist Doc Coyle's blog reads as follows:
"This past fall and winter has been a refocusing period on a personal and business level for God Forbid figuring what the next phase of this band will be. Another announcement is that Matt Wicklund (WARREL DANE, ex-HIMSA,) is our new guitar player. He relocated to New Jersey and immediately started contributing new material. Along with being a great guy, he fit in with all of us really well, and it seemed like a no brainer. It's hard to say what the new material will be like, but so far I can say it's going to be very hook oriented, and obviously without Dallas, it will have a different vibe. Matt and I have very similar musical tastes, but he comes from a more trained background in theory which should create an interesting dynamic. He is also a very good lead guitar player, so there will probably be more solos. As soon as we do a new photo shoot, we will update all of our websites with Matt. We'll see you on tour!"
