Norwegian prog metal act Leprous has checked in with the following new road report:
"Day 16 & 17 - Vienna. Part 1: Hotel? No thanks:
"Today the bus parked outside a well known venue for us, Szene in Vienna. We played there in 2010 with Therion, and two weeks later we went there to pick up the camera TorO forgot there at the gig. We had actually booked a hotel for this night, even though we would prefer just staying at the bus. At the bus we have really comfortable beds and tons of entertainment, while the hotel only can offer beds. Going to the hotel also means that we have to bring all our stuff, take the metro 45 minutes, check out next morning and go back to the bus. After getting the approval from the bus driver, we decided to stay in the bus, even though we had already paid for the hotel.
"Part 2: Exploring Vienna for the third time: During the 2010 tour we had one show day in Vienna, and one off day a couple of weeks later. That means that we have already seen a lot of this beautiful city. Today I had a visit from my fiancee Marita, so that gave me a perfect opportunity to guide her all around the city. Even though I usually consider off days to be very boring, it was very nice to just walk around the two of us.
"Part 3: Showtime: Being back at a venue you’ve played before always feels cool. The sound was good on stage, the audience was quite good and in general we were quite satisfied." More...

Grave recently signed a new worldwide deal with the band's initial home, Century Media Records, and will be releasing a 10th studio album in 2012 through the label.
The band is currently in the legendary Studio Soulless working on the album, and Ola Lindgren has the following update for anxious Grave fans:
"Greetings, y'all! Just a quick update on what's going on in the Grave camp. This past week, we started the process of recording the new album in our own Studio Soulless. It's been going very well and sounds killer already at this early stage with only drums and bass tracks done. Nine new songs plus three special tracks for various releases of the album have been recorded, and I would describe it as a mix of our latest two releases with some more old-school, groovy 'Soulless' parts.
"I'm looking forward to my first ever NAMM show -- hope to meet some of you there! Also worth mentioning is that we are moving the studio to a new location, and from late February onwards, I will be taking on mixing and mastering missions full-time. Any inquiries, please contact email@example.com."
More news about this upcoming release will be announced soon, so stay tuned.

Brooklyn sludge rock ensemble Hull will ring in the New Year with an appearance on The Learning Channel's Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker this Monday, January 16th, 2012 at 9:00PM EST.
The Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker is a TLC series hosted by Buddy Valastro, the star of his own reality series, Cake Boss. The show features contestants participating in challenges that test their baking and decorating skills.
Commented guitarist/vocalist N. Palmirotto: "We received this email from a production manager from the TV show, The Next Great Baker, a Cake Boss spin off, asking us if we would like to perform on the show. It was during the time that the Big Four were in town, and Megadeth were originally asked to perform for Mauro's birthday -- Mauro Castano is the Cake Boss' right-hand man and brother-in-law -- as he was always a big metalhead back in the day, but Megadeth couldn't do it for whatever reason. HULL was mentioned at a board meeting, and low and behold, they contacted us. We showed up in Hoboken on a rainy afternoon to a huge production. They had us set up and perform on top of two box trucks while the contestants displayed their best attempts at metal-themed birthday cakes. It was truly a one of a kind experience, and we are very much looking forward to Episode 8, Headbanging Bakers, on January 16th."
For more info on the show, point your browser to the official website here. Hull recently unleashed "Beyond The Lightless Sky" (reviewed here), which continues to earn critical praise from fans and media alike. Released via The End Records, "Beyond The Lightless Sky" was co-produced by Brett Romnes, mixed by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Melvins), and features guest appearances by vocalist Jarboe, keys/ambiance by Fade Kainer (Batillus/Jarboe/Inswarm) and cello by Joe Merolla with artwork by Tamara Waite-Santibanez.

We have been eager to play overseas and we can't wait to perform for our European fans and make some new ones along the way. I hope Germany is ready for The Browning!"

Massacre Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Gun Barrel:
"Street credibility? Check. Uncompromising sound? Check. Pure enthusiasm? Check. Gun Barrel don’t breathe new life into the great tradition of heavy metal, they inject it with high pressure. These guys combine old school, misfit rock 'n' roll and metal attitude in an ingenious way. Being the representatives of this dirty metal rock 'n' roll, they really let it rip during their legendary live performances.
"You can feel the animal instinct and the heart and soul that make the band skyrocket on stage. If nothing else, this might be due to the fact that Gun Barrel are among the most frequent performers in Germany. Those, who survived the Gun Barrel live drumfire are totally thrilled and become serial offenders. This is unavoidable. More...

Mastodon is one of those bands that can’t disappoint even if the band tried. Having seen Mastodon live twice I'll definitely say that anyone looking to see the group in concert is probably going to have a total blast.
What's more important is that the Mastodon guys are actually awesome in person. Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor sat down to talk about their new album “The Hunter,” their recent tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Elmyr and what original vocalist Eric Saner is up to. More...
Headbanger's Kitchen has issued the following announcement about parting ways with Enter Guerilla films:
"It's been almost a year since we launched Headbanger's Kitchen on youtube and the journey has been fantastic and one that would not have been possible without the vision and resources of Srinivas Sunderrajan and Enter Guerilla films. I am indebted to them for not only bringing this idea of mine to life but taking it way beyond my imagination and expectations. Their work has been nothing short of world class but unfortunately episode 8 is going to be the last of our journey together.
"At this point I'm not sure what the future holds for Headbanger's Kitchen, moments like this leave very little room for positivity but I've rarely given up on things I do and I feel that I'm unlikely to stop here as well. I'm obviously going to hope to find the right production house or team to work with because the standard of work is high and I aim to keep it at that, but I'm beyond the point where I can do it myself so if anyone has the skills and the interest, I'm listening. So till I can get this project back on it's feet, keep watching, keep sharing and keep cooking."
Episode 7 of Headbanger's Kitchen, titled "Modern Ma-Quiche," is currently online at this location.
EG Films also issued the following statement: "After an eventful year of producing 'Headbangers Kitchen', which saw 8 episodes featuring various 'demonic dishes' and bands (both national and international), we at Enter Guerrilla Films regret to say that we won't be able to continue the partnership. This decision has been made keeping in mind the ever changing media industry and the workload/pressure that an independent house like ours has to fulfill.
"We have already 'parceled' the good memories of the awesome fun and the crazy tasting sessions and interactions with various guests during the whole process. We are thankful to Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer for giving us a chance to 'collaborate' on this unique idea and we wish him all the success and positivity for the years to come! Also to all the fans of HK and EG - keep those taste buds alive! Cheers and stay indie! :)"

New Eden, the Los Angeles based heavy metal group, is releasing its latest CD entitled "Solving For X" through the German based label Pure Steel Records. The planned release date is in spring of 2012. New Eden commented:
"The band is happy to have found an appropriate home for 'Solving For X.' New Eden feels that Pure Steel Records focus on the Heavy Metal market is exactly what the new CD needs. The band looks forward to the labels ability to deliver its music to both existing and new generations of Metal-Heads."
Pure Steel Records also added:
"New Eden is one of the few bands combining complex and for parts progressive US power metal in that way that the songs will be catchy and long living in everybody's ears. With Rod Arias the band has an absolutely professional vocalist you maybe remember from the US-veterans Recon. No need to lose words about band boss Horacio Colmenares if you are a bit into US metal. The rest of the band is for sure not worse, so we are happy to have these fine musicians at PURE STEEL RECORDS."
The current New Eden lineup is as follows:
Vocals - Rod Arias (ex-RECON)
Guitar - Horacio Colmenares (STEEL PROPHET, ex-AXEHAMMER)
Guitar - Andrew Betties
Bass - Luis Sandoval
Drums - Jimmy Schultz (PSYCHOSIS)
U.K. based deathcrust metallers Winds of Genocide have announced the title of their upcoming full-length album as "Usurping The Throne Of Disease."
Winds of Genocide has tapped world-renowned gruesome graphic illustrator Mark Riddick (Arsis, Slayer, Morbid Angel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Cephalic Carnage, etc) to oversee the entire artwork and layout duties. The initial rough sketches for "Usurping The Throne Of Disease" can be found at the Mark Riddick Official Facebook page here.
In other Winds of Genocide news, the band recently underwent a line-up adjustment. The new Winds of Genocide skinsbeater is Matthew Henderson, and Linus Girdland Flink will now be reinstated as the second axe-man. The band issued the following statement:
"This is the new line-up that will be writing material for and recording the debut full-length album 'Usurping The Throne Of Disease.' Matthew is a great young versatile drummer (still only in his teens, he is currently 17 years old, nearly 18) and he also drums in a local Death Metal band called Plague Rider. He can switch from D-Beats, Swebeats and blast beats, which is all we need in a drummer!
"He has picked up most of the songs we have written so far VERY quickly and learned the current setlist with impressive ease. We are very happy to have him in the band and onboard for the full-length album. Linus, who played drums on our first two recordings and tracks for the upcoming split with Abigail (Japan), has now moved on to second guitar dues to him moving to London so we needed to find a drummer who could rehearse and work on new material regularly."
New Bedford, MA based act Necris has posted a song online titled "Fluorination," which is off the upcoming album "You Bought The Hope, Now Here's Your Change." Check out the song in the player below. The band also commented:

We are sure you will be banging your heads until your necks are sore! Please post to your profiles, spread the word about us, come out to our shows & purchase when released! Thank you all & stay tuned!" More...
After a solid week of intensive recording at Pyramid Sound with producer Alex Perialas, Birth A.D. is close to the finish line with their debut album, "I Blame You." Bassist/vocalist Jeff Tandy was quoted as saying, "Everything sounds great so far. Alex has pushed us to get the best performances of our careers, and even the raw tracks sound unbelievable. This record is going to blast a hole in all the laptop studio junk that gluts the market. We're doing it the old way and the right way - the sound everyone has been missing is alive again!" Production for "I Blame You" will wrap on January 16th.
Sweden's Limbo has posted a new sample demo track online, simply titled "Limbo12," which can be heard through the player below. The band also commented: "It is Friday the 13th (omg), which means new riffage from us! Help us spread this one! Happy weekend!"

Enochian Theory has issued the following announcement about the "Life...And All It Entails" album being pushed back:
"'Life...And All It Entails' will be released on Monday 12th March 2012... Things have been put back a month due to things beyond our control, but this release date will not change anymore.
"For those of you who have already pre-ordered the new album, thank you very much for doing so. For those of you who have not pre-ordered yet, please do. The more albums we can sell 'Officially' to you lovely people the more touring we can do. The more places we can come to play for you all...
"In this hard industry, it all comes down to record sales. So we need your help... Please pre-order the new album from your local store, online, or wherever you can find it within your price range.
"Send emails and letters to your local venues asking them to book Enochian Theory and tell everyone you know about us. It really is down to you guys, as you're the ones who matter and can make the difference.
"Keep your eyes on our pages as there will be audio from the new album released online for you all to listen to very soon. More to come....." More...
Vocalist Beer Reebs of Texas death metal maniacs HOD has issued the following update on the band's highly anticipated second full-length entitled "Book Of Worms," the imminent release of an unholy trio of tunes and forthcoming live action:
"Due to numerous lineup changes (4 total) in the past 1 1/2 - 2yrs and lack of finances, our sophmore album 'Book of the Worm' was inevitably pushed back and pushed back. During this time I spoke with Big Bald Brian from Ossuary Industries, who has been a long time friend and supporter to HOD. I told him we couldn't commit to a full length album due to our obligations/loyalty to Ibex Moon Records but we could commit to a split of some sorts. He mentioned the upcoming 'Limbsplitter 2' compilation he was putting together. Needing to release SOMETHING to appease the masses we agreed to jump on that. He even let us pick another group of our choosing to join in on the chaos. We chose our comrades in the black/death group Locusta to accompany us alongside Demoniacal Genuflection, Ingurgitate, & Iniquitous respectively. I forget who's doing the mastering but the artwork was done by the very twistedly sick Jon Zig. We recorded our three tracks with Dennis Munoz of Solstice fame. Our three slabs of hate are titled:
1. Awakening Blasphemous Abominations
2. And the Smoke Will Rise
3. To Call Forth the Deep Ones.
These tracks were recorded as a 4 piece and are the last recorded tracks w/founding member Dennis Sanders on drums. The disc will hopefully be available at the Gathering of the Bestial Legion V fest being held in L.A. Sat Jan 14th where we (HOD) share the stage w/Death Metal titans Autopsy, Incantation, Acheron, Divine Eve and more. When we get back home we'll play a 'local' show the 21st with some fellow TX Black and Death Metal bands while awaiting our March 26th show opening for the mighty Onslaught and M-pire of Evil. Recording of our 2nd album will be getting finished during this time as well. Till then, get your limbs split by Ossuary Industries w/the Limbsplitter 2 disc. Fuckin' Metal!"
The band has posted a stream of the track "To Call Forth The Deep Ones" on HOD's Reverbnation page, where you can stream other tracks from the "Serpent" release as well. "Book of Worms" should be out later this year on Ibex Moon Records. More...

Los Angeles power metal band Heretic has reformed with original guitarist Brian Korban and original vocalist Julian Mendez. The band is best known for its one and only full length release "Breaking Point" (1988), featuring Ex-Metal Church vocalist Mike Howe. Heretic expects to have a new release in 2012.
In what appeared to be a "band swap," Heretic split in 1988 following Howe's departure to front Metal Church, which lead Heretic's Brian Korban and then bassist Dennis Ohara to form Reverend with original and then departed (and now deceased) Metal Church vocalist David Wayne.
Now in 2012, Heretic has reformed with Korban and vocalist Julian Mendez, who sung on the band's debut EP "Torture Knows No Boundary." The 2012 lineup of Heretic is as follows:
Julian Mendez (vocals)
Brian Korban (Ex-Reverend) (guitars)
Angelo Espino (Ex-Reverend/Ex-Bitch) (bass)
Glenn Rogers (Ex-Viking/Ex-Hirax) (guitar)
Ignazio Iggy Coppola (Ex-Reverend) (drums)

Riot founder/guitarist Mark Reale has been admitted to the hospital due to complications of Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It usually affects the intestines.
The band posted the following on its official website: "Riot founder and guitarist Mark Reale has been admitted to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition due to complications of Crohn's disease. Subsequently, there is a possibility that he may not appear in the band's upcoming performances in the Northeast and aboard the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise to Grand Cayman.
"Mark has been battling Crohn's for most of his life, working and performing while enduring almost constant pain and the side effects of treatment for his illness. He was in Texas bravely attempting to practice for the shows, but was felled by a severe onset of Crohn's symptoms leaving him in the Intensive Care Unit at an undisclosed facility.
"The band has agreed that the performances will take place as scheduled with the possibility that Mark may not be well enough in time to appear. Riot would also like to acknowledge that Mark has been struggling with these symptoms throughout the production of their new album, Immortal Soul, and that guitarist Mike Flyntz recorded a major portion of the guitars on the album with Mark's creative direction while he was unable to perform.
"For this reason, fans can be assured that the show will be as exciting as anything Riot has ever staged, even if Mike needs to hold down double guitar duty. Mark will be sorely missed in this event, but the shows will go on.
"We ask fans and friends of the band to pray for Mark's speedy recovery, and to support the band in our efforts to bring you the Riot reunion shows that have been so long in the making. While Mark's family insists on privacy during this difficult time, your prayers and good wishes will make it to his bedside until he is able to return to the stage.
"Many thanks and Shine On!
