Devin Townsend is a true artist when it comes to creating music. He is currently half-way through releasing a four-album series, each record with it's own identity, and planning the resurrection of our favorite coffee-drinking alien Ziltoid. Devin Townsend is on tour for the first time in years, and everybody is clammering for a chance to see him after his hiatus. I had the opportunity to sit down with him before his performance in New Orleans to discuss his numerous albums, getting back on the road and some strange plans for the future. A transcription follows. More...

Expect a new, more mature AHFW. I think every member in the band was given the chance to shine on this album. We all poured our blood, sweat and tears into this to take the bar and raise it higher. Needless to say, we're all stoked beyond belief for the release of this record. The album artwork is being done by the renowned God Machine. There's another thing we're way excited about. We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week’s story is from Alan Averill Nemtheanga, frontman of Primordial:
"During the last show of the Paganfest Tour in LA in the pit some fucker was giving me the finger for the whole first half of the show, why you would go pay into a band to do that is beyond me. He was wearing a Dimmu shirt if I remember correctly so no doubt that says something about his taste in music. Maybe I fucked his girlfriend, sister or mother or something when she was on holidays in Ireland who knows? So I called him out on it and told him it was no problem to meet after the show and I would kick his fucking head in. 18 hole gettagrips got to be used for something right? Well I didn't need to as, as soon as the next track started he got hauled into the pit by some Irish boys and they kicked his ass big time. That made me smile, and here's me thinking Metal had lost it's edge o)..."
Primordial recently posted a new trailer online for their forthcoming new DVD release, "All Empires Fall." Meanwhile, the extreme metal side project Blood Revolt that Nemtheanga handles vocals for will enter the studio to record their debut album this winter.
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the pit.
Finland's Amoral has posted the following message regarding the departure of guitarist Silver Ots:
"For the past months it has been unclear whether or not Silver would continue in the band, and now he has made up his mind to leave. Apparently he didn't feel motivated enough to be part of Amoral anymore, as well as wanting to concentrate on other things in life.
"As bothersome as it is to lose a band member we've been working with since the very beginning, we're not going to let this affect our own enthusiasm and the future of Amoral. Valtteri Hirvonen will be our 'permanent stand-in guitarist' for the time being, so he'll be joining us on gigs and helping out with the songwriting process (he did a GREAT job on the European tour by the way, so we're more than happy to have the guy with us).
"So, all the best for Silver in the future, and towards new adventures with Amoral!"
Silver comments: "I would like to thank the guys for dedication and determination throughout the years and making things happen. I treasure the experiences and miles travelled. I hope nothing but the best for Amoral and raise my thumbs up to Valtteri Hirvonen for stepping up to the challenge!"
