Within Temptation Posts New Lyric Video Online

Dutch symphonic metal outfit Within Temptation has posted a new lyric video online for the song, "In Vain." You can check it out below. "In Vain" appears on the band's new album, "Resist," which will be released on February 1st through Spinefarm/Universal Music.

"Resist is a true milestone for us. If it wasn't for Resist, Within Temptation wouldn't be here anymore," the band stated.

"With this record, we've taken inspiration from modern music and gave it a face - a very dark one," said singer Sharon den Adel. "Sometimes, it feels that today's pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like and roughen it up as much as we could, resulting in a surprisingly new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we’ve ever created before. Resist is our take on metal in a new way: to give modern music its rebellious edge." More...

Delain Posts New Music Video Online

The dramatic and cinematic track, “Masters Of Destiny”, is the first single from Delain's upcoming release, Hunter’s Moon. It is one of the four brand new studio tracks that are part of the stunning live album + BluRay, which will be released on February 22nd via Napalm Records.

Delain travelled to Iceland to underline the mystic that lies within the brand new single accompanied by a breathtaking video, “Masters Of Destiny”. Watch below.

Says the band: "This is an exciting release for us, and a special one too on account of the fact that we chose one of our more elaborate and unconventional compositions for our first single, showcasing another side of ourselves as a band. We wanted to make the video like an extension to the music; to match the orchestral, instrumental and vocal bombast of the song with visuals of nature in all its grandeur, and we found the perfect backdrop for this in beautiful Iceland. We are very proud to present to you the music video for our brand new track Masters of Destiny. We hope you enjoy the journey." More...

Ghost Posts New Webisode Online

Today, multi-Grammy-nominated Swedish rock band Ghost releases "Chapter 6: The Visit," the latest video in the band's narrative webisode series. In "Chapter 5: The Call," Sister Imperator, who was recuperating from a horrible car crash, discussed the merits and failings of "The Omen" feature film franchise while on the phone with Papa Nihil. In "Chapter 6: The Visit," the story continues. Check it out below.

Twenty-nineteen is already looking to be a stellar year for Ghost. Following the band's critically-acclaimed Fall 2018 North American tour where the itinerary included the band's first headline - and sold out - arena shows - the Los Angeles Forum and Montreal's Place Bell - Ghost will take its "A Pale Tour Named Death" to Europe, launching on February 3 in Lyon, France. Frontman Cardinal Copia will take a short break for a quick trip to Los Angeles where he will attend The Grammys on February 10 as the band is nominated in two categories: Best Rock Album for Prequelle and Best Rock Song for "Rats," the song that held the 2018 record for most weeks at #1 at Rock Radio, a total of eight. In 2016, Ghost took home its first Grammy for its song "Circe" as "Best Metal Performance." This summer, Ghost will be Special Guest on all four legs of Metallica's "Worldwired" European Stadium tour that starts May 1 in Lisbon, Portugal. More...

At The Gates Posts New Music Video Online

Swedish death metal legends At The Gates has released a new music video for the song, "The Mirror Black," which was released today as a seven inch single and features guest vocals from Rob Miller of Amebix fame. The clip was created by Costin Chioreanu / Twilight13Media, who also is also responsible for the artwork duties of the entire “To Drink From The Night Itself” release. The video can be seen below.

At The Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg checked in with the following comment :"When we decided that we wanted to release the two Rob Miller tracks on a separate 7", we felt that ‘The Mirror Black‘ was worthy of its own video. Costin was already excited about the idea, and I explained the basic outlines of the idea of the song. Working with Costin always brings in another dimension to our music and my lyrics; so he did his own interpretation of the main theme of the song. I am super happy with the result, I really think that this is one of the best videos At The Gates have ever done. There are a lot of hidden meanings and other symbolism in this clip, so you can watch it many times and still find new stuff. We as a band are super excited about this release!" More...

Kreator Heralds The European Apocalypse

I've mentioned before that 2018 had some of the most exciting tour packages in recent years. It can be argued that the most exciting of these was the Headbanger's Ball tour (see report on the London show here,) but for those who want more variety in a lineup, the European Apocalypse had you covered. What more could a metal fan ask for than to spend the evening with thrash metal gods Kreator, black metal outfit Dimmu Borgir, American hardcore stars Hatebreed and Swedish death metal supergroup Bloodbath? It was one Hell of a way to cap off the year and when the tour rolled into London, I was there to catch it in all of its glory.

Kicking things off in suitably dark fashion was Bloodbath. It was interesting comparing their opening slot inside the Roundhouse to the well received performance on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air four months earlier. Frontman Nick Holmes proves once again that he's a natural fit for the band, delivering powerful screams interspersed with dry humour throughout and casting a tortured shadow over the stage. Material from their new album, "The Arrow Of Satan" is drawn sounds fantastic live and fits in perfectly with older songs such as "So You Die" and "Outnumbering The Day," before the quintet closed their set with a rendition of "Eaten." Great performance and an adrenaline raising way to get the night going. More...

Beast In Black Posts New Lyric Video Online

Up and coming metallers Beast In Black lie in wait for the release of their sophomore album 'From Hell With Love', on February 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. After posting a few album trailers giving the fans an insight into their creative process, the band has released the second single from their upcoming opus today. Watch the lyric video for "Die By The Blade" below.

States Anton, "'Die By The Blade' is one of the 'Berserk' manga related songs on the album and apart from its very straightforward song title, the lyrics deal with a deeper issue than it might seem at first glance. Music-wise it's a definite Beast In Black style heavy metal earworm and Yannis' powerful and emotional all-or-nothing type of performance deserves a special mention!" More...
