Every week we track down musicians and metalheads from all over the world to get their favorite mosh pit stories and crazy tales from live shows. This week comes a story of Viking mayhem at Sweden Rock 2010 courtesy of Metalunderground.com reader Cbella:
At Sweden Rock 2010, I wanted to see Danzig but none of my group wanted to so I made my way alone over to the stage. On my way, I encountered a group of the biggest Vikings I ever saw! They charged at me and one of them threw me into a fireman’s lift. Anyway, he was trashed and it had been pissing with rain so the ground was really wet.
So this fucking Viking slipped, dropped me on my face, knocked me out and knocked my front tooth out! If that wasn’t bad enough, when I came round, this vomit-smelling, Sloth-from-the-Goonies-looking fucker, was trying to give me the kiss-of-life while I was bleeding from the mouth! Nice!
Many thanks to Cbella, and we hope your next festival is experienced fully conscious and with significantly less Viking face-destruction action. Check back in again next Tuesday as we share more Pit Stories from readers and metal bands.

"After jamming the set a few times we all decided that Mark was the perfect fit for us and undoubtedly should be our new drummer. He is the upmost professional and his work on the new effort in going to really help us bring everything to another level. Everyone better watch out."

Ireland's Primordial will be co-headlining the Paganfest tour 2012, which is kicking off in Oberhausen, Germany the 16th of March 2012!
Primordial singer A.A. Nemtheanga comments: "Never say never right? So we announce our participation in next March's Paganfest festival tour across Central Europe. Anyone who has read any of my various ramblings and musings over the last year or two will know my feelings about the current state of club touring and the industry in general. It's an ugly business but we are definitely ugly enough and getting uglier every year so strangely enough the stars aligned and the dates fell into place for us. Anyone who knows anything about Primordial knows how hard it has become for us to commit to lengthy touring as the years go by. The window of opportunity represents possibly the only opportunity we will have to do a longer tour for 'Redemption' across Europe so as they say…needs must and better the devil you know. Never as I say say never.
"Regardless of the fact that the general tone of this tour is a little different. It has a more pronounced mix of light and shade. We have our Icelandic brethren Solstafir taking part which I would have thought alongside ourselves should sweeten the deal for those who may feel the pagan/heathen festival tour holds nothing for them, Romanian shamans NeguraBunget also filling out the darker quotient of the tour. Heidevolk stand firm for proud old values and having taken part in Eluveitie's acoustic album personally my feeling on those guys and girls should be apparent! I support them and the cultural significance they represent. I'm not here to sound the rallying cry for a dying venture (i.e touring) or sound the death knell for Primordial club touring we are simply taking part, we have some interesting and new things planned and the tour has some light and shade, which may be difficult for some people to take but this is how it is. Of course some territories are missed and we apologize for this but this is a mixture of market forces and pragmatism and unfortunately nothing to do with us, we hope to fill in the blanks over time. Bottom line, Primordial is touring….this is the most important fact and you know what you are gonna get…blood sweat and fire so see you on the field…"
The Paganfest 2012 dates are as follows (featuring Eluveitie, Primordial, Negura Bunget, Heidevolk, and Solstafir): More...

Chapters of Eden has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:
"We never really thought we would ever write these words on this page but as unfortunate as it is we are writing to deliver the news that we have let our drummer Matt Edwards go. Being our best friend it was the most difficult decision as a band, and as friends, we have ever had to make.
"We really thought it would never come to it but for reasons which Matt knows, we had to do what we had to do. He will never be forgotten in the History of Chapters and it is always a pleasure to work with a best friend musically.
"This may be sad news for us at Chapters and anyone who knows how close we are to Matt but Chapters will go on. Also Dont Worry people we will still be releasing our new I AM ALIVE 3 Track EP on the 20th of January!! And we will still be releasing the music video for the song 'Primitive!' MARK IT IN YOUR CALENDARS!!! Thank you for reading."

Just one week before being released into the general population via Southern Lord, today Pitchfork is streaming Loincloth's debut LP, "Iron Balls Of Steel," in its entirety. Check out all sixteen blistering tracks of the outfit's quirky, instrumental, tech-metal molestation right here. The band also issued the following press release:
"Compressing nearly forty minutes of mathematical mayhem onto the album, Iron Balls Of Steel -- Loincloth's first output since 2003 -- will hit the streets on January 17th via Southern Lord, on CD, LP and digital download formats.
"A power trio comprised of guitarists Cary Rowells (Confessor) and Tannon Penland (Koszonom), and drummer Steve Shelton (Confessor), LOINCLOTH steer clear of cliché formulas, and choosing instead to carve its name out sheer force of will.
"Coalescing endless, technical riffing and a thoroughly devastating rhythm section with seamless precision, never once incorporating acoustic parts, pointless leads, repetition or vocals, the album fully energetic and driving, mashing out riffs at their fullest and remaining innovative the whole time, without attempting to be a 'progressive' act."
Swedish hardcore band Refused has announced a series of shows scheduled for summer 2012. This is the band’s first appearance since breaking up in the late ‘90s and will include performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 13th and 20th and the Way Out West Festival in Sweden Aug 9-11. Refused has released the following statement:
"It's been a motley 14 years since our band came apart. We've all kept busy in our respective endeavors but we've all remained friends and kept in touch. There have been offers, and lots of jokes about these offers. We've sort of looked down from our high horses and made fun of people who've just wanted to share the psychopathic intensity that we would deliver on a nightly basis in our post-pubescent prime. A reunion has just seemed irrelevant to us. Too much other shit to do…
"We never did 'The Shape of Punk To Come' justice back when it came out, too tangled up in petty internal bickering to really focus on the job. And suddenly there's this possibility to do it like it was intended. We wanna do it over, do it right. For the people who've kept the music alive through the years, but also for our own sakes…"

Great vibe to the session with these guys, and a real pleasure to work with. I really enjoyed the session, was cool to work with a band that can just get in and do their thing with a completely no nonsense approach!"
Bong is in the process of confirming tour dates in support of the record, with the following confirmed so far:
14 January – The Cluny, Newcastle
15 April – Roadburn Afterburner, Tilburg, Holland
17 May – Colchester Arts Centre, Colchester

5 Star Grave has posted a snippet of the song "Death Put A Smile On My Face" online, which can be heard in the player below and is taken off the band's new album "Drugstore Hell." The band also commented:
"Hello there people! Few months still to go before the new record is released, so it's about time to give you all some new hints of what you're gonna hear on Drugstore Hell.
"After the rock'n'roll on steroids (tnx to some guys on the net for this wonderful definition!) of 'Love Affair With The Beast' and the sombre and gloomy danse macabre mood of 'Terminal Bedroom' (of which lyrics are an homage to the memory of Mr. Peter Steele) here we go with a brand new song entitled 'Death Put A Smile On My Face!'To check it out just click on this link.
"This song, like many others on the new album, will definitely make clear that despite using scream vocals on our songs we're NOT a melodic death metal band, 'coz the core of our sound is and always will be deeply rooted into classic high-octane heavy metal!
"Right people, enjoy the snippet and don't forget to check us out in a couple of weeks for some new stuff from Drugstore Hell." More...
