Solstafir Begins Recording New Album

Icelandic heathens Solstafir are currently working on a new album and follow-up to 2011's "Svartir Sandar" (reviewed here).

The band has no posted the following brief message online: "Newsflash! The new album is bloody good. Vocal recordings start tomorrow. Stay tuned."

Solstafir's Guðmundur Óli Pálmason also recently issued this message to the fans:

"Brothers and sisters we wish you all a happy (winter/summer) solstice (depending on which hemisphere you are on)! Up here in the far north it's 10:20 and it's still dark as night outside and when the sun rises in about an hour it will shine on us for only about 4 hours.

"I must admit it's my least favorite time of year, actually I prefer the total opposite, but this time of year is and has been a time of celebration for thousands of years. We celebrate the re-birth of the sun. We celebrate that the day becomes longer again. We celebrate life. No matter how black metal you pretend to be.

"Brothers and sisters, have a happy (winter/summer) solstice celebration!"
