Cynic Posts New Lyric Video For "The Lion's Roar"

Cynic's forthcoming album is entitled "Kindly Bent to Free Us" and has been scheduled for release next February 14th (February 18th in North America).

Today the new track "The Lion's Roar" has been made available as a lyric video, courtesy of Guitar World. Check it out below. The full album's track listing is:

The deluxe edition of "Kindly Bent to Free Us" will come as a collector’s faux book with leather finish and gold foil print including the album in a digisleeve CD with the exclusive bonus track “Earth Is My Witness" and numerous exclusive items including a poster, lyrics booklet, full score booklet, and 5 transparent slides of additional artwork.

This is the most disappointing song I've heard in recent memory. I always have such high hopes for Cynic releases, and I sincerely hope this doesn't represent the quality of the other releases. It's just a boring pop song with Sean Malone over the top.

Well, I'm not really surprised in any way. It's hard to be disappointed at something that isn't surprising.

It still has echoes of the new Cynic I enjoyed like Evolutionary Sleeper. It will probably be an enjoying prog-pop album? Makes you kind of realize what kind of void exists there.

Having said that. . .

I do enjoy Cynic but haven't listened to any of their post-Focus material and, judging by these comments, maybe I should continue not doing that.
