you obviously cannot distinguish the difference between "new" Slipknot and good music. They've been done since Iowa.

To me......they set the bar way waaaaay to high on iowa...the result an absolute masterpiece that wouldn't be topped. .....it's too good an album and it has an utmost unique evil feel and sound that separates it from other bands.....almost like mayhems ordo ad chao....I AM NOT COMPARING SLIPKNOT TO MAYHEM CALM DOWN

If slipknot had any talent they wouldn't need 9 sh**ty musicians to make a mediocre band. Jordinson can't even play his own beats half the time and corey is over played and over rated

The thing I enjoy the least about Slipknot is their fans. I wouldn't say they're the best band ever nor would I say they're extremely talented but together they make a good band. I enjoy all of their albums past to present...still give each a spin regularly. I will go ahead and agree that Iowa was their best but I wouldn't say the two following Iowa were total garbage. I'm always confused when people turn on a band simply because they didn't remake their best album over and over and over again. I'll check out the new album to see what they come up with.

I'll admit to enjoying the first two albums as much for nostalgia as their signature energy and intensity.

My theory is that if you got into their sound at a certain point in your own musical taste development then they filled a void that went largely untapped at the turn of the century.

They manage to be catchy, dense, distinct, direct, and (when they make an effort) heavy. They aren't the best at anything by any means but I think they play their niche quite well.

I hate Corey Taylor, I think he's an arrogant prick, and I'm certainly not a Slipknot "maggot" fa**ot.

However, I loved Iowa to death, enjoyed Vol 3, and enjoyed parts of All Hope Is Gone. I don't think they're great musicians, but I still like their music.

You're all f***ing stupid and I hate you all because you don't like the music that I do, and I f***ing also f***ing hate you for liking a certain band.

I am honest guy and i have to say self titled and iowa where enjoyable albums, a lot of energy and emotion went in those albums. But the 3rd album was a huge let down when they done ballads and tried to play guitar solos when they cant, and all hope is gone was a very forgettable nu metal product, more senseless ballads thrown in just for the sake to get radio play and sell more albums and the heavier nu metal songs lacked focus and direction.

I guess I just disagree. I like some of their slower material personally. The thing I have noticed is that despite becoming more mainstream friendly a lot of the message still remains. The term maggot refers to something way past being a Slipknot fan and if you don't get that then I'd wager you didn't get the message they were trying to put out. Sure Corey Taylor can rub people the wrong way and has done some pompous sh**. He's not a talented vocalist in my books...but I enjoy the music he makes nonetheless because I relate to a lot of the message. I don't judge music by band members personalities. If I did, I wouldnt like 99% of the bands I do. Thats also why I'm such a huge Tool fan. For years no one even knew what Maynard looked like and to this day performs without a spotlight on him in the back of the stage. It's about the music not loving a person.

the biggest problem is that Slipknot used to be extreme, heavy, and aggressive. Now, half the songs that are on the album sound like Stone Sour rejects. The passion and fire is gone. What's pathetic is the fans that are clinging on to the shred of what used to make them great. Move on, and find a band that hasn't completely pussed out.

Pussed out? lol See I would argue that going beyond what made them famous is anything but pussing out. Just like Opeth making Damnation wasn't pussing out. I will admit I laughed out loud at the Stone Sour reject bit though. I can see where you have a point there. Songs like Before I Forget sound like Stone Sour. Having said that..I still don't think that moving away from the Iowa formula means they've pussed out...lost inspiration...maybe a bit. To me it seems they've progressed onto more political topics (minus the ballads) rather than expressing pure hatred and anger.

And btw, slipknot was never meant to be a really heavy band, they are, however, the heaviest "gateway" Metal band since pantera (the other big ones being Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, and Disturbed) and were the first metal bands that used deathgrowls (though most of their deathgrowls arent really deathgrowls) that i enjoyed, when i wsas in 5th grade they were the f***ing sh**, now my favorite bands are TBDM and DevilDriver, but i know that i would never have gotten into extreme metal genres at all if it hadnt been for slipknot, so stop dissing them cuz they "arent heavy" and enjoy them for what they are, the beginning of many a young kid's metal listening careers

I have found that everyone has an opinion on Slipknot. They are either hugely grateful for Slipknot, after getting into metal through a phase of nu-metal, or they are haters.

I have never liked the term haters. I would like to think that if someone hates on you it is because you did something to justify the hate. But in some cases that is not the case... in some cases, people jump on the hate wagon and just lob sh** at one particular group of people just because f*** them, and hey it's fun to rip on someone. f*** Justin Beiber.

But Slipknot?... they just were a band. That's their crime that earned all this hate. They were a band who had a very thrashy yet groovy sound, which scared some people because of how catchy yet heavy it was. Metal isn't supposed to be that catchy! That sh**'s ghey! Slipknot sucks!

Also, "JESUS CHRIST + 10!" may be the best comment I have ever seen.
